Neuter yes. But they must be adaptable for outside of doors. Otherwise they can become "astray" again. Or what about travel in a vehicle(to the vet)? The need a mixture of both unless they were born indoors.
Cats often will choose YOU to be their friend. Cats don't really have "masters," they have staff. Also, often the most feisty ones--the ones that drive you crazy--are the ones you fall in love with most.

He chose you! Been feeding a black one outside who looks ruff, actually scared me 1 night staring in my window looking a bit evil , he runs up 2 me chirping so I feed but can't get close yet, great thing you've done!

That soft fur is from the Maine Coon in him. I'm so happy that you took him in. He seems like such a sweetheart! A gorgeous cat at that!❤
Both of mine (mr Cuddles and MochiMarie) were both rescues and they bring such joy to my life! Thank you for taking in Cowboy.. Tuxedos are known to be very sweet, social and almost dog-like. My MochiMarie is a tuxedo too. I just subscribed. Enjoy your fur babies!

The little part where he spaced out watching the birds on your Macbook laptop is just so precious, oh goodness. From experience, stray kitties always end up being so loving when adopted. 💕 *Some things I'd suggest from one cat momma to another:* 〰 *1. I'd highly highly HIGHLY suggest transitioning him to wet food.* Seriously, I cannot stress this enough. Cats evolved to gather their moisture from their prey (food), so cats who are on a dry food mainly/only diet end up developing chronic kidney disease, renal issues, etc. Additionally, due to the fact that dry "cat" food is so rich in carbohydrates but so low in protein, this makes cats extremely hungry and borderline addicted to the food because they want to keep eating to make up for the protein they can't get from their dry food (remember, they're carnivores but dry cat food is mainly plant-derived ingredients). Any complete & balanced wet food is much better than any dry food (excluding freeze-dried raw, which you can add moisture to) -- even Friskies or Fancy Feast Classic is a big upgrade! *But he might reject any new food or experience gastrointestinal issues if not properly transitioned* and just switched to new food abruptly, so here is a website that tells you how to properly and slowly transition a cat to new food: www.petbarn.com.au/petspot/cat/food-and-nutrition-cat/transition-cat-new-food/ *And here is a calculator to know exactly how much he needs to eat.* Just put the calories of the portion you give him, his weight, his name, and it'll tell you: cats.com/weight-calculator ---- 〰 *2. Playtime! Using a cat wand toy everyday before each meal for 15 minutes* will help a lot with eliminating any excess energy they have, which could be one of the main culprits of 3 AM meows. It also just helps prevent a LOT of behavioural issues. "Jackson Galaxy" has some great videos on how to play with your cat. ---- 〰 *3. Teethbrushing.* Yes, cats need their teeth brushed at least 3 times per week with cat-safe toothpaste (you can find it at Petsmart, Petco, etc). This one can take a looong time to do, but there is a channel called "Cat School Clicker Training" that helps you understand how to get your cat fully comfortable with teethbrushing so that you don't have to worry about wrestling them. Most cats have Periodontal Disease at around 3-5 years of age when they do not have their teeth brushed.
That’s funny you mentioned the cat food. I just watched this video and when I saw the portion size I immediately thought that that might be too much and that he’ll get overweight. I think you’re right about the dry cat food too. I saw another video where the cats were addicted to the dry cat food and would wake heir owner up just like these cats did. The cats were begging for food day and night. It was excessive. That makes sense because it’s the same way with humans. Carb heavy meals make you eat more that day and you’re more hungry.

Hello, thanks for your comment and recommendations! Like I mentioned in the video, he is a lot better about waking me up when I keep his feeding on a schedule. I was just describing my first experiences with him and I'm sure he needed an adjustment period to getting food regularly again. I appreciate the concern, but both of the kitties are well taken care of and fed what is recommended by their vets.
@@samantha1ouise Yes, every cat's first experience in a home is difficult, and that's very normal! I simply wanted to give insight into how many cat owner's experience ends up being like based on statistics, studies, etc. I commented this precisely because these are things vets don't tell you and you only learn through research and VERY painful experience. Dry food is rich in carbohydrates, low in protein, and low in moisture-- which is why it's linked to renal diseases, kidney diseases, diabetes mellitus, etc, when given as a main diet (remember, cats are carnivores so they mainly need animal-derived protein and they consume their main moisture from prey). Therefore, cats who eat dry food live in a constant state of low level dehydration and overactive renal system that is attempting to break down the carbohydrates. But vets won't tell you this because they learned that any cat food is fine as long as it's AAFCO approved and contains the minimum macronutrients, but sadly "fine" isn't always safe let alone healthy, especially long term. Another reason is that vets know that cat owners prefer to give dry food since it's (usually) cheaper. A vet will also not tell you how long you need to play with your cat for even though it's essential for their enrichment, and they will also not tell you to use pet-safe enzymatic toothpaste for your cat to prevent periodontal disease by the average age of 3-5 years of age, because vets have to go through each patient quickly. Regardless, all of these things are essential; but in the end, you're the owner of the kitty and it's in your hands what you're both more content with. These are mere suggestions but it's best to do your own research and come to your own conclusion. 💗
@@LoveK1 For cats it's not the same it is for humans, though. For cats it's considerably worse since they're carnivores and not omnivores like us, so they don't have salivary enzymes to break down carbohydrates, whilst we at least have those. Not only that, but it's low in moisture, protein, etc -- yet cats very much love it because of the added palatants and it can be sooo hard to get them off it. It's frustrating how it's not even cat owners' fault, though, because how can we think dry cat food is bad when it's everywhere and when vets always tell us to give cats a Royal Canin or Hill's? It's definitely a little frustrating. There's a great article made by a Vet Nutritionist that I'll source really quick in case you or the OP are interested: Caticles, J. GREAT ...he has a buddy...check with vet how many times a day to feed kitties...always have fresh water...wet food is good to give also.

Too 🥰 bless everyone with multi pet homes. I have a cat she’s 1yrs old now. I got her last august 2022 after losing my dog he passed away 😢. I didn’t know anything about cats and I’m still learning. But she’s so sweet and loving. What a big difference from a dog. But I love them both

This is so funny. We have a Black and white stray under our storage shed and his name was also Cowboy.The owner has come by but they gave up on him. I think it was because of the shed, he would never come out from under it. We renamed him Ramblin Boi from a song. The song was Please come to Boston. Maybe, hopefully this summer, he will come out to play. We also have an orange cat. His name is Jack E Pooh. I named him after Jack McFarland and Jack Tripper. I’m a sucker for good comedy. Lol.

I have a ginger cat 🐈 for the first time and wow! He’s got a super big personality! I also have a black and white one...kinda like he’s wearing a 🤵 tux. The ginger is quite the brat most of the time! He’s also super lovable. But, he has his moments when I have to put him in a timeout. This is my second comment... I just had to watch your story about adopting again. It’s very inspirational and I hope it will get others to adopt! 😊
I free fed my cat. He did great with his weight, ate when he wanted to eat. I would refill the bowl when it was empty. Maybe just keep food in their bowls.

Exactly how I adopted my b/w Wiseguy. Had him for 16 years. Passed in 07. Still miss him. Love the end with him in the bathtub.

The black and white one - a Tuxedo kitty, I think - are full of personality. One of my favorite breeds! Congrats on your babies. They are beautiful and their Mom is some kind of special to be taken in a stray who needs love and a home. YOU are a beloved young lady.

It appears he had a home at one time and was probably tossed out when he hit sexual maturity and started spraying..it happens all the time. People think it’s too expensive to fix them…they adopt them as free kittens and then toss them out. When they are raised indoors and then tossed outside they usually don’t do well and look for someone to take them inside. Thanks for adopting him, fixing him and giving him a forever home! I love the name Cowboy!
What a gorgeous cat. Thank you for giving him love, kindness and his forever home with you. I have a stray cat who is so so thankful to be living inside. Ethan is also a delight and so sweet. Glad they're friends finally our older cat never accepted the stray. She died recently at about 20 years old, and our stray Mary is loving living here even more. It will be 6 years in March and her gratitude shows daily.

I had two strays very similar: a fat, tuxedo male who I called Bilbo, & a ginger & white female, called Lil (or, Lily). Both lived long & happy lives, making-up for their bad starts in life (I hope). They brought me a lot of love during the lonely times, made me laugh, gave me someone to come home to. On a cold, Winter's night, having two purring, floof monsters with you is lovely.

He has the same chin spot and ultra-soft medium fur as my first cat did, and his name was "Cowboy" when I adopted him from the shelter. We just lost him to kidney disease last week, but the cycle of perfect cowboys continues.

O M G ! ! ! ! The same thing kinda sorta happen to me ... Believe it or not my cat is the same cat ... Black and white ... Super soft ... Fluffy fluffy tail ... He was a stray outside and he came up to eat the outside cats food ... I have inside cats too ... He was so young and so small that i just had to take him in ... I wanted to adopt him out 😁BUT😁 he just kept growing on me and i couldnt resist ... I named him Teer and hes a holy terror 😲 but i ❤ him and i still have him for now ... I really do wish i could find an awesome home for him but hes mine for now 😸😸🐾🐾♥️♥️
