Escaping side control pins aren't an easy task if you're trying to use traditional frames against good opponents. It's important to take away your opponents leverage points that are keeping you flat in order to escape tighter pins. Sometimes the slightest adjustment in you elbow positioning can make all the difference in the amount of effort you need to turn to your side and initiate your escape.
1) Feet on floor to help keep your self on your side.
2) Inside position with the arms, especially far side arm elbow.
3) Block crossface by pummeling hand under.
All these points are talked about in more depth on how to use them effectively in the video.
Dude is falling asleep at the start!
But did you watch the whole clip to see if John stays awake? I would. 😂
@@conceptual_bjj Yes, once he got moving he livened up 😂. Love your stuff!
He's just Asian. He was wide awake. Jeez. Lol.
@@gmuel87 Haha Thank you!
@@KodiakCombat referring to the slow blinking and mouth slowly falling open...
Reminds me of that Priit shit. That is a compliment, I love Priits system. Just subscribed!
He is very creative with his escape and defense systems. Thank you for the kind words and the support!
Thanks i like how you explained the common approach to the positions as well as traditional defenses
Thank you, I appreciate that. I hope it helps you in your training.
This video is amazing! Exactly what I've been looking for, I've been getting squished under big guys for all these reasons! Thanks a bunch!
No problem, glad that it's helping you!

You're welcome! Glad you like it, means a lot.
Great video dudes
Thank you, appreciate the support!
Great instructional. I loved how you showed the normal pace at the end as well. If you're looking for suggestions, how about defenses for when you end up in turtle
Thank you! I'll add that to the list for you.
Keep elbows tight and connected to your waist ,use left hand to block right side of neck and right hand to block left side of neck (palms out), bring knees all the way in so opponents can’t get hooks in and work from there. This is the perfect turtle until you get moved
Thank you
You're welcome
thanks!!
You're welcome!
Very good and easy basic explanation of fundamentals…. Keep it up!! Some montage video editing of cutting from clip to clip and/or head text with follow-ups could be a great addition for the to your work, just for the viewers pleasure 🙏🏽Subscribed
Thank you for the feedback! Hopefully I will only improve in my editing skills... because I don't think they can get worse.
Thats a beautiful Beatle's cut.
Haha
let him sleep. i feel sorry for that.
yeah
not bad bro
Thank you! Appreciate it man.
Greg Souders, someone is not learning all these details with the newfangeled "Ecological approach" details need to be coached, drilled then implemented in a live roll
I think these concepts would be better learned in his approach.
Any evidence to prove that?
@@KodiakCombat you could build a "game" where the objective is to do a proper frame and go live. He doesn't give zero instruction btw he pauses the drills to give feedback
I don’t have evidence. I think you could learn by reading a book, drilling, games, positional, or free rolling. The time it would take to execute would be different in all learning styles.
