Escaping side control pins aren't an easy task if you're trying to use traditional frames against good opponents. It's important to take away your opponents leverage points that are keeping you flat in order to escape tighter pins. Sometimes the slightest adjustment in you elbow positioning can make all the difference in the amount of effort you need to turn to your side and initiate your escape.
1) Feet on floor to help keep your self on your side.
2) Inside position with the arms, especially far side arm elbow.
3) Block crossface by pummeling hand under.
All these points are talked about in more depth on how to use them effectively in the video.

    • Keep elbows tight and connected to your waist ,use left hand to block right side of neck and right hand to block left side of neck (palms out), bring knees all the way in so opponents can’t get hooks in and work from there. This is the perfect turtle until you get moved

  • Greg Souders, someone is not learning all these details with the newfangeled "Ecological approach" details need to be coached, drilled then implemented in a live roll

    • @@KodiakCombat you could build a "game" where the objective is to do a proper frame and go live. He doesn't give zero instruction btw he pauses the drills to give feedback

    • I don’t have evidence. I think you could learn by reading a book, drilling, games, positional, or free rolling. The time it would take to execute would be different in all learning styles.
