I really liked this interview, that Lay was allowed to talk without being interrupted even when he was having trouble with English. I feel like too many interviewers jump in when people need a moment and you often don't get to hear all the artist wants to say. I really appreciate how this was handled, he is such a hardworking and intelligent artist.
Yeah, when you're searching for the word for something it's so appreciated when the person you're speaking to just quietly waits. It can feel awkward being the person on the other side of that and feel like "but I should help them..!" so I hope it's reassuring to anyone who reads this that that silence is actually quite welcome. It's not awkward when you're clearly content to wait for me to find the word =D
Zhang Yixing is the kindest and most humble artist. I had the opportunity to attend his grand line concert and he gave out his light sticks for free. No other concerts I’ve attended has done that before. It’s not about financial gain because his fans mean the world to him and he never fails to mention them. I love you Lay ♥️♥️ Keep sLAYing
He really is amazing and is very kind! he has given many times to his fans especially things like food support; however the lightsticks were prepared by his fanbase. They did an amazing job here in the US providing lightsticks and other goodies in San Francisco and New York!

Idol only popular among fandom but not getting much recognition among matured, older and mainstream audiences which prefer ballad. Idols are not even considered as singer in China, but yeah, they are trying hard to transition into singer to get more recognition.

And to this date, Jay is still very huge, on the top there, although he is lack active and quality is in decline. This kind of genre known as 国风(Guo Feng), it is there and popular for quite long already, it literally means national music. Even before Jay Chou, there are songs like 沧海一声笑, 倩女幽魂(by Leslie Cheung), 醉拳(OST for movie Jui Kuen by Jackie Chan) and severals more, especially as OST for dramas or movies. The fact is Lay music not even really consider as Guo Feng, he is more categories into idol music. He add some Guo Feng elements into it because he like that style, also can helping him transition and slowly getting more recognition instead of just being idol music.

Like what Lay said, many hard working people still didn't get the spotlight, it's because our destiny is a combination of luck and hardwork. If it's not for you, no matter how hard working you are, then it is not for you.

Lay said "Thank You" so many times in this video. It just shows how humble, grounded, and grateful he is. I mean, no one will fully comprehend the difficulty he is facing everyday aside from himself. And him bearing all the tough situations that life gives him just to make the fans happy is very heartwarming. The man has a million and one things on his mind and add the fact that English is not his native language he responded the questions nicely. I can see, they were amazed by his amount of work and achievements and wanted to understand how Lay alone can do these things, however, there is a language barrier which makes it a little smoky(my boy learns English so quickly which is also impressive) I want to say what Lay's actual motto is, He wants to excel his best, in his mind he never underestimate fans love and support so he wants to return the same amount of love through his music /work, He believes in hard work, learning new thing and sharping his existing talent to the top level. (I see kinda same philosophy from his EXO bros too) I just hope Lay finds time for his personal life too. One thing I want to add is that Lay and EXO, they pass the time for "wanting awards n things as goals" for them it's more like doing what they love, delivering the best to their fans, and leaving a legacy to the young generation.
This is why out of all EXO members, I can never relate to Lay the most. I'm not talking bad about him, I'm talking bad about *me!* Lay is so positive and optimistic, he's just amazing! That's not me at all! 😅 Just listening to what he's done and what he does everyday have already made me tired. This guy has done soooo much with his career, literally everything! I really admire him. Lay is the most hardworking and talented artist I’ve ever seen. Haters laugh at his dream of winning the Grammy Award and taking M pop to the world, but I can see his dream becomes closer and closer to him. In his speech at the Harvard Business School last week, he mentioned that a goal is like a ceiling that you may reach on tiptoe and a dream may be like a sky, something may never be reached or come true no matter how hard you try, but it’s ok and that’s probably the beauty of it. His dream drives him moving forward and he can help other talented young people and maybe they can realize the dream that he can’t realize one day. Lay is so inspiring!!!
