In Angry Video Game Nerd episode 209, The Nerd dons his leather hat and whip again to pick up where he left off in 2008, playing more bad games based on the Indiana Jones films series! This time though he's got something brand new for you - a game based on the newly released Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for the... LeapFrog Didj?! The Nerd also digs deep into Young Indiana Jones games on Sega Genesis and NES, some of Indy's PC and DVD adventures, and his first venture into 3D in the Nintendo 64's the Infernal Machine. The game footage was intentionally degraded to try and make it look old.

Just so you know the gameplay was intentionally degraded in editing have the footage look old. Enjoy the episode!
good to know~ thanks james!
James you really blew my mind with this editing, I thought maybe this was a lost episode at first, thank you for always being creative.
That makes it even more epic!
The effect is so convincing, it genuinely feels like older AVGN footage. Cool idea!
Thanks for giving us this amazing sequel episode, @JamesNintendoNerd. I'm just surprised you didn't play the LEGO Indiana Jones game.
I like how he solved 32\8 correctly and jumped on the 4 platform but still died lol
I really started doubting myself. I was about to grab a calculator because I thought I was going insane. XD
I had an aneurysm during that scene
Same here, thought I lost it or I'm dreaming
He jumped again off of it lol
I literally paused the video and checked a calculator to make sure I wasn't losing it.
I actually thought this was an old episode that I somehow missed back in the day and didn't realized it wasn't until the point James starts joking about de-aging Indy😅

Me too
Same here man.
Me too just realized it a week later
Pretty sure maclunky was added to SW years later too lol
The fact AVGN can still do the classic style 100% flawlessly is insane. Wow great work!
I cant believe its been 15 years since avgn did an Indiana jones episode!
And here thinking he just denied the existence of the new all female indiana jones just came out.
You and me both.
I think that was the most recent episode when I started watching him

I love the extra effort that makes this look like James actually filmed it in 2008: at 14:56, you see James' cat Boo (RIP). Unbelievable attention to detail.
I miss Boo
I didn't even notice that! RIP Boo
The aliasing and standard def look. Wouldn't be surprised if he's using the same camera setup as back then!~
Something as simple as the way him opening the drawers to get out the game is shot just the same as an old episode takes me back
Seeing him made me sad… RIP in kitty heaven little guy…
This is crazy. I really appreciate every detail, including the chair consumed by cats and the Boo tribute. We miss you Boo.
So basically, only the little footage of Boo was actually older? It could have been from early 2020, months before Boo's passing, as far as I care!

The Casino Games one was top tier.
I really like the inclusion of his late cat when heading off to the Cinema. Thats attention to detail and a lovely nod to an old friend.
I loved that part too. top notch stuff
Indeed
i legitimately couldn't tell in the beginning that this was actually new footage, i thought it was a reused older episode to tie into the new one. honestly impressive how much it feels like an early AVGN episode
You mean it isn't?
What, it isn't?
I kind of thought he might have recorded this back in the day - then I looked at the original and realized that he was much younger back then... but the costume, background and framing is spot on; the lighting is much better in this new video though.
@@nicolaspeter1679 Mandela effect kicks in
@@flemmingpedersen567 I wonder how he did it. He does look older in most of the segments than he did in the original video, but he also looks younger than in the scenes where he's holding the Dial of Diarrhea. I'm thinking maybe he deep-faked himself, which would make sense since most of the available training footage would have him a tad older than in his earlier videos.

The most unbelievable part of this for me was that the Didj was an actual console
The past 50 years are littered with videogame machines which flopped and faded into obscurity.
Didj know gaming?
I had a Didj with Sonic the Hedgehog
i had one with a star wars game
@p0st426 same! I had one as well. Never expected to see it in a video.
The Nerd accidently whipping the lamp is still one of his best moments
Thanks for the new hilarious episode with allusions to the previous episodes years past. Have a nice summer!
I prefer him whipping the wall, Belmont-style for meat in an old CastleVania review.
He really should play the Lego game
definitely one of the best AVGN episodes The bit with the dial was super funny
the diarrhea dial yess legendary
At the end Kyle should have appeared behind the couch and said: "Finally I can go home"

I feel ashamed that I didn't know this was a new episode and not a reupload... somehow. But now that I watched it, woa, it's nice to see James experimenting with new ideas while making tributes to the older episodes every once in a while. It is a part 2 to an older video.
Is that a reference to his Castlevania 4 review? :D
It's great to see how self-aware James is, and how he can replicate the feel and look of his (now) older reviews. I love you, AVGN since you were the ANN
His reaction to seeing Crystal Skull reminds me just how pathetically whiny people were in 2008 and it’s so sad that people tend to still act that way now in the darkest recesses of the internet.
Not sure I believe its actually a replication. Well done to him if this not simply old, unreleased footage.
