Nixian Channel Description:
We’re lifelong video game enthusiasts with a passion for showing the world how our favorite hobby has grown with us, from individual series to industry-wide retrospectives.
We put significant time and creative effort into each one of our videos, including research, digging into archives, recording voiceovers, and editing. Every video takes as many as 10 hours to produce, because we strive to give our fans consistent, high-quality content.
Our popular “Evolution of...” series goes far beyond simply presenting gameplay footage. We take the time to show how a video game property - its gameplay, character designs, graphics, sound direction, etc. - have evolved over time. We include unique voiceover work on each video to enhance the viewing experience.
People have been playing video games for decades. In that time, we’ve gone from moving a white line up and down to block a moving pixel, to participating in full-fledged, painstakingly rendered real-time battles with people all over the world. We help older gamers look back on how these experiences have changed throughout their lives, and new gamers to understand the broader context of the series they’re playing for the first time today.
The video game medium never stops growing, and we’ll never stop chronicling its evolution.
Recording, Editing, and voice over were made by me.

Skate 3 was so ahead of it's time
Dude tell me about it. Just bout it a week ago and it is fucking to much fun .
Its not nearly as good as 2. The online focus of 3 even in the career was a bad move for the series probably why it died for so long until now lol. It has only in recent years been seen as a cult classic. When it came out I remember it being much more negatively recieved then 2.
CMC6996 would you happen to know if all the moves are the same through out all 3 games? I know one thing for sure is that you can get of your board in 2 and 3. I just purchased skate 1 and 3 and I really love the first one but I can’t go back to after playing the 3rd one and knowing skate 3 might have a wider moves list . Plus it looks way better since it’s Xbox one enhanced now.
@@markolivares6943 not 100 percent positive but if i had to take a guess I would say 3 probably has the most tricks. However New San Van in skate 2 i think is the best open world of the three games and the best career overall. Skate 3 is definitely worth it though because it's backwards compatible on xbox one and its still a decent game
CMC6996 thanks dude much appreciated. I’ve been playing the 3rd one for a week and I can’t put it down. Been wanting to play the first one again but what’s stopping me is the limited moves and the simple fact you can’t get off your board. However the career mode for skate one is very pleasant and I’ll most likely play it again just for the fuck of it.
I like how the Tony Hawk games basically have no physics

I played the absolute business out of Thrasher Skate or Destroy. It had a great soundtrack and the game play was very good. Unforgiving at first but great once you got to grips with it.

It was the first game I ever owned on ps1 and yeah it ruled, such a sick soundtrack too like you said. I miss those days running home from the bus stop to play haha
Loved the shit out of thrasher. Played it a wile ago........fuckin sucked........

THUG will always hold the most special place in my heart i was a goofy middle schooler who maybe landed a few flips but i could put my face into a game and go pro, and they way they implemented your stats getting better throughout the storyline was just so on point... not to mention that roof to roof gap over the helicopter... goosebumps

Tony Hawk's Underground and Skate 2 are still my favorite ones till this day. Skating around Tampa, while listening to "Armageddon", "She Said" and "Don't Wait" was the best experience I've had in a TH game. And everything in Skate 2 just felt right. Realistic and natural. My only complaint is how stiff your skater is when you get off your board. Really enjoyed THPS 1+2 and I'm excited for the next EA Skate (even though it's EA and I feel like they'll somehow fuck it up), and Session.
Tony Hawks project 8 is underrated. Its easy to overlook it, especially in this video but was/still is very fun with a lot of sick maps and details.
The Simpson’s skateboarding was so hard, there was a challenge where you had to grind this high ledge and I ended up snapping the disk

That's true. But worst goals, worst level design, strange physics if you are playing it directly after THUG... THAW was way better.

Can we just point out how great the sound tracks in all these games were
Tony Hawk's Underground 1 will forever be the best skate boarding game of all time. The story was incredible and all of the challenges that seemingly had nothing to do with skateboarding made it so great (driving the zamboni in Vancouver, punching people, sneaking past Russian soldiers wearing night vision goggles in Moscow).

The Ea skate series is miles ahead of everything else to be honest
Don't agree. Tony Hawk was way ahead of its time back from 1999 to 2008 or 7
@@CoffeeOn i mean Thrasher's skate and destroy was way ahead of its time in terms of a realistic skating game
Honestly I think Tony Hawk's Proving Grounds is better than any of the skate games except for Skate 2
Faxx Skater XL is pretty dope too (i know its not an EA skate installment)
Not skater xl. Everything is too easy on skate franchise games. In skater xl you actually feel like you landed a trick in real life because of the difficulty of doing so many tricks in the game. It's the only skate game ever where you can actually do different pop levels of each trick. For example you can do a quick little Ollie or a medium pop to get up a legde or higher to get over taller objects or onto taller rails and ledges. No other skateboarding game does that which is more realistic than any of the skate games where everything is popped exactly the same. Skate 4 is gonna be like 3.
8:12 Gone back like 15 years!?
I can't believe how much skateboarding games have advanced and the graphics too its almost unimaginable in just one video seeing it all its pretty crazy
when they make a skateboard videogame with a spotify collaboration that can you actually listen to your playlists while playing it's gonna be a badass game
But you can do that already lol in ps 4 just open the spotify app , is no the same
@@edybocman76 wow that's a op move🤔

@Kuma but can you hookup multiple screens to it like we PC Gamers do
i love how in terms of realistic, skater xl and session are better, we still don’t consider them close to the tony hawk series and skate series because of how much fun we had when we were younger
I don't know, the physics look kind of floaty to me... I think skate 3's hardcore mode physics were pretty realistic and the easy mode was a lot of fun. The physics in that game in general are well made i think. sketchy landings are a 10/10 feature.
@@sh00kah the physics are quite alright but are way, way better with the pc mod menu. If they introduced that to console it would hands down be the best skating sim around.
@@sh00kahi know this comment is old af but just wanted to add that Session (and i assume skaterXL) has settings for the physics so you can fully customize them to how you like, whether it's realistic, arcady or a mix of both :) i was a huge fan of the Skate series and still miss it. But i have to admit I'm kind of happy there's more realistic games out there now. I could never get along with the arcade-like aspects of the games that well. I'm just hoping session will add vert skating soon as it was always my favorite
I work at a BAR that has a 720 (an actual physical video game!!!) - among about 26 other games at the bar in Korea Town in Los Angeles: Blipsy BAR - almost nobody plays it - crazy. I was very good at it when it came out - I'm very rusty. Much better than many of the other skate games to follow - great game with 1 of a kind joystick and gameplay.
Played 720 as a kid growing up in the mid to late 80"s when it came out. Brings back a lot of memories loosing many of hours an quarters hanging out with friends.
I played the 720 arcade game for countless hours back in the mid/late 80's when it was out and brand new at the time. A small local grocery market had several arcade games stuffed in the back of their store, including 720. Those were the days!

I feel like out of all these games, the skate series(skate 1, 2 and 3) had the best physics like momentum, you actually have to jump on a rail you don’t just teleport. And you could punch people ;)
I recently picked up the THPS 1/2 Remaster and while it is fun playing them again, I get frustrated at how silly it is compared to the Skate series. I know that the THPS series was always silly, and it was about stringing impossibly ridiculous combos together but after playing Skate 1 and 2 (I never played 3) THPS just feels so ... limiting. I keep wanting to play THPS like I am using the controller for Skate and it of course doesn't work out too well haha.
