  • Man I heard Madlib once say you don’t need all this fancy hardware Then I hear Al say well when you use a DAW you can line everything up perfectly(Quantize) I love the part when he said you know when you get emotional. I’ve heard him say you can’t overcook a meal. So once I laid down what I laid down and it made me feel happy and I’ve learned from the experience. I walk away. The beat is done. I constant play this is my head to make sure I try to keep it raw, simple and as human as possible. That is my mission statement.

  • The “limitations” just make me appreciate the art that’s given to us from guys like Al. Tribe, Dilla, Madlib, DOOM, etc. All of these artists had to create what they heard in their innermost minds with what they had access to. Don’t get me wrong, the modern technology is good with giving us what they had earlier and faster, but the want and desire to give the world what we think is deserving of hearing doesn’t feel like it’s there AS much as just the need for being noticed for it is.
