Thx for the video. I picked up a Yamaha 8hp 4 stroke ..Simple to change the oil. I wanted to start out with fresh oil in my motor along w changing the lower unit fluid. Good strait forward video. Thx Again..
EXCELLENT video. Thanks so much. Simple yet super useful. Will be cleaning out my carb and tank, plus replace fuel filter come spring.
Hey, I had a problem where my motor same as the video, was back firing do you think it could be my fuel filter?
Brilliant video and explanation. I might try my own basic service based on this advice.
In your video, you showed an impeller but didn't show how to replace it? Any follow up video on replacing that part? love the video very helpful. I have a 6HP
Great video. Clear and easy to follow :)
Massive help thank you
Great video. Thank you.
Good video

Thank you
Do you have an example of a 4 hp four-speed carburetor repair kit? I need a sample photo to order it
great video really helpful, i have just bought a 2005 yamaha 4hp 4 stroke outboard seems in really good condition and starts well i just have a issue with it not idling, unless i rev it kinda shudders and then cuts out, any ideas for a person that is fairly decent at diy but new to outboards, if its not too intricate i could probably do it myself like i will this service thanx in advance
First step is to take the carb off and clean it out fully.
Nice one
Awesome, this also applies to LEHR 5.0
Cheers
Where can I get the fuel filter for a 1998 4hp 4 stroke? Any numbers for the filter? Thanks
do you have any idea if there is a port for a hose to flush the system? It is not mentioned in the owner's manual and I cant find it mentioned online. Thanks.
Hi any idea how to remove fuel from inbuilt fuel tank o n 6hp 4 stroke
Hello ! Was out on the water for an hr no issues with this engine. I stopped it for 25 mins and went to start again and it wouldn't. It's my first outboard and didn't know you have to put the throttle on a certain a position and then pull the rope, I have been pulling the rope without throttle on set position and It has always taken me 7 pulls or more to start it so I think I flooded the motor. How do I de flood? is there such a thing? I tried putting throttle all the way open and choke closed to possibly deflood and cranked it ten to fifteen times and then tried with throttle on the start position to crank but have had no luck starting, tried also with choke on for a few strokes with no luck either. Could I have fouled up the spark plug?
Hi, what size are the gaskets?
Great video. I couldn't help noticing that the in gear protection stopper is missing from your engine. It's a white plastic lever at the at the top of the engine that the cable goes to. Mine is missing too. Have you any idea how to replace these? The part number is 67D-15794-00 and is called a 'stopper'. Thank you.
Lol. Mine just broke off today!
Hi Sam, I've just become the owner of an identical outboard to this (came with boat) and followed your helpful tutorial to replace the gear and engine oil and plug. My issue is that it won't start or even spark (I've never actually seen it running). Any pointers to what I should look at next (given I've replaced the plug) ? Many thanks
No spark at all? Are you grounding the plug as you test? If no spark at all check the kill switch first then the coil/magneto.
@@FixitSam Hi Sam, thanks for the reply. I'm learning as I go here. I don't know what you mean by grounding the plug. I've looked at the kill switch, lubricated it, added a spacer to ensure it was extended enough to no avail. I do notice though that with a full tank, the fuel filter is bone dry. Could that be the issue? (Blocked fuel line?) Thanks again - David (Mayo)
@@FixitSam Found the fuel switch - (that's embarrassing) still no joy starting
@@fargarden Establish you have a good spark first. Remove and hold the plug against a metal part of the engine with the lead still attached and try starting to see if you have a good spark.
Hello , i have a F9.9jmh 2016 with no sparks, New plugs , been under saltwater i was gold from the smeller, cleaned the carburater but wont start, is IT the coli or cdi, how to check out?😄
i have a problem with my motor at full throtle it seems to be running lean and it goes like it should on 1/3 choke and it seems that i have to change to a bigger jet but shouldnt the original jet work for the motor or am i missing something
Nice video! Do you know what is this black tube just under the white cable at time 4.43? Thank you!
The one going to the air filter? Think its a breather pipe...
@@FixitSam Yes! Do you know what it does? I found out that mine was almost broken at the joint on the black box and the pipe. I glued it and connect it and now the outboard works fine. Before that, I had iddle problems and sometimes the engine stopped and had to pull many times to start against using the chock. So, if you know was it does you could help me a lot to undersand! Thank you!
@@FixitSam Do you think that from this pipe oil also travels?
@@lazmelet Here the manual with that diagram: www.manualslib.com/manual/824998/Yamaha-F4.html?page=108#manual
@@FixitSam Thank you!!!
I have a Yamaha just like the one in the video. Works fine but will not start unless carburator is emptied from fuel first. Any suggestions?
Clean the carb.
do you have an example of a new carburetor repairkit ... I ask you for a photo of the example. because in my country it is very difficult to get the device and I have ordered it but they are asking for examples and serial numbers as examples in order to look for them
67D-W0093-00 is the part number for the carb kit for this engine I believe
@@FixitSam oke thx brother

How to remove t engine and clean t water line side water is not coming
Hi how to remove t engine block from body of 4stock 6hp Yamaha motor t water line is block gear box impeller change pls show t video upto u shown t video is good but also show to remove t engine from body n how to clean t water line how put gasket n bracket bush
Can you carry 6hp?
They 60lbs
Yes.
Depends who. 27 kg.
No offense, but changing the engine oil and not changing the filter? You may as well have not bothered. And, sorry, but most people will be doing this at the end of the season, ie just before putting the engine away for the season. So you change the fuel filter but dont drain the fuel out of the tank? Youze dude. Not the way we roll!
I have a 6hp 2022....there is no oil filter to even change on the motor.
