Tarot and Marco Hietala are one of the originators and fathers of Finnish Heavy Metal music and they are still after 25 years going strong and their Music is eternal. I wish Marco finds a way to continue to make more music solo or with Tarot, because his singing talent and voice are truly unique and empowering. Take all the time you need first to rest you "Finish Viking", you'll stand with the Gods in Valhalla one day because of your huge accomplishments you have performed, you can be sure of that!

Some things can't be fixed by rest, as unfortunate as that is. But we can hope and wish for the best!
He and his brother (the guy on the guitars ;-) ) founded this band back in the 80ies and kinda pioneered finnish heavy metal. They released several albums since then and are considered cult in Finland, but unfortunatly never made it big outside of their country. Marco was then asked to join Nightwish and debuted on 2002's "Century Child" and became popular to a wide audience, but he never left Tarot and now handles both bands (and a lot more stuff) at the same time. He must be a busy fella :-D
And not forgetting Marco being in the supergroup that was Sinergy with Roope from Stone, Alexi from Bodom, Tonmi from To Die For and Kimberly Goss from Dimmu/Ancient/Therion.
@@hairulaidil4343 Northern Kings was really good but they didn't have that many releases. And Marko has since retired(?) from Nightwish, too.
I think their lyrics being in broken english would have prevented international success back when this game out. "staring the storm into the eye" is such an awesome lyric in such broken english lol

@@vadimastprojects8770 Haven't heard much from him but he did to a live show with Raskasta Joulua during Christmas. Also if you didn't know he made a song with Mika Jaakkola called Soita.
@@vadimastprojects8770 Marko has really started to come back now that he has a chance to get his health sorted. I was so sad to hear he was leaving Nightwish, but luckily he has so much skill and talent that it cannot be contained and he is back! Northern Kings toured this Summer and he has been doing this and that all over. Thank goodness! It would have been a great loss to Metal if he wasn’t able to keep making music. Obviously his health and happiness come first, but I am very selfish lol

Marco is such a great frontman... I remeber seeing Nightwish live a few years back (it was in Tel Aviv, first international show with Anette Olzon) and he totally stole the show...

Absolutely killer guitar solo. Isn't only complicated or flashy..but has several, very different parts..and it fits and serves the song perfectly. Perfection, imo. Far too often, guys try to either be too flashy with too many notes...or they stay too close to the vocal melody of the song. Not this solo. All of the parts and techniques fit together to serve the song perfectly. I salute this player.

Yeah..a few days ago, I posted on a Tarot video how I missed seeing new stuff from them. But then I found out that the drummer passed away. i had absolutely no idea. I wonder if they are going to put anything new out. They have been essentially inactive due to both his illness and Marco's commitments with Nightwish.
@@michaelr.4878 Only time will tell, meanwhile Marko Hietalas first solo album is coming in this month, English version of the album is coming later this year. Pyre of the black heart it is called in english.

I'm exactly like you, I've known about them for quite some time. I knew that their vocalist and bassist is also in Nightwish, but never bothered to give it a listen. They're so amazing.
I found Tarot's music just recently, the first album I heard was the Gravity of Light. More I got to learn them more I felt in love. I have not heard the original Spell of Iron yet, but even this got me on my knees! Still some albums I need to get from somewhere...
I hope you have heard their entire catalogue by now :)

Tarot are back! I don't know the details...other than that they are rehearsing for some shows. Hopefully they tour in NA and record some new material. They have Antero Seppänen of Turmion Kätilöt playing drums. I got this info from Zackary Hietala's youtube channel.

@loganscad The original (their debut album) was called "Spell Of Iron" and contained this song (their debut single, released in 1986 I think). It was rerecorded to celebrate its 25th birthday and will be released as "Spell Of Iron MMXI" on the 6th of May

28leftbehind What, you are really asking me that? ;d Well, in case there really wasn't a joke I didn't get, I've been growing my hair for 6 years now, if I trimmed it every month I would be covered in hair, but I rarely have that opportunity and I did fuck up once, if I straighten my hair it would probably reach my waist, but it is very curly, so it's somewhat around my elbows. Some people grow that much hair in an year, it depends ;d
Meh, I don't believe this trimming myth. Why would it grow faster if you trim it? Makes no sense, also wouldn't you neutralize the hair growing if you trim it every month and lenght will stay same forever? People (who never had a long hair before, even same as the lamer Harry Styles) keep telling me "go trim your hair" and i be like "I want to GROW hair you fuck face, not CUT it." I think they think that my fucked up hair-genes will be fixed if i trim my hair. (so fluffy people think that i got hair breakage, even though i dont, looks unhealthy etc.) It's good anyway I don't think about cutting it unless if i got a serious hair loss problem.
28leftbehind It's not a myth. 1. it develops ends and it splits 2. the hair at the end is exausted (from sun, or growth, or combing, or whatever reason) and therefore slows down the growth. If you trim it every month you cut a very little.
Ivan Bratoev lol acrtually trimming that much you will never get any length at all. I used to go to salons every 3 months and all they do is trim off everything you grow. My hair grows like a weed and much longer then when I let salons decide on my lengths. The trim can be good every so often for split ends but not that much.

What was the cause?
ALS. Tarot has been "On Hold" since Pecu died September 2016. I don't even know when their last gig even was before that. 2011? 2012? 2013? (i googled it. Seems like 2012 Kuopiorock) Unless Marco Hietala becomes less busy with Nightwish and christmas songs (see Raskasta Joulua) Tarot might as well be split-up.

No, that's the lead singer and bassist of tarot who also plays bass in nightwish =D Tarot started in 1982 and Marko and his brother Sakari are founding members. Marko joined nighwish in 2001.

@@MikkoRantalainen He was asked to join nightwish so that certain T. Holopainen would un-ragequit the band after he had a falling out with the original bassist. Then afterwards they found out he can sign so they no longer had to hire session vocalists for the male vocals. It wasn't like "now you are worthy to join this amazing band". More like "Tuomas ragequit and we need to convince him to come back by getting a new bass player, Marko please save us".
The mics they use is really unusual, but kind of cool, at the same time :P Shure B52 is best used on kicks or bass amps, and the keyboardist is singing into some sort of boom mic usually seen on movie sets (though it's perfectly fine for recording human voice)
