By the light of the moon, a group sneaks into the woods, where they take mind-altering substances, switch it up romantically and brush up against creatures from another dimension. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” sees Shakespeare play with the boundary between illusion and reality - and dramatize the possibility that life is but a dream. Iseult Gillespie shares what makes this play a timeless classic.

  • I remember reading this for English Literature a few years ago. Just today we were discussing about our school play, and we wanted to do Shakespeare. Macbeth was off limits as the Y11s are doing it for school and they would kill us, so I suggested A Midsummer Nights Dream. Feels so apt since it's one of the most hilarious Shakespeare plays. Although Taming of the Shrew is also hilarious.

      @geralferald@geralferald5 жыл бұрын
    • @@geralferald Yes, Shakespeare is very hard to read. And English is not even my native language, so it is even more hard for me to read. But if you watch a summary of the plays with quotes and stuff, then you get to understand his plays more. And if you watch a play instead of just reading it, it also helps you to understand it more. If you get his plays though, they are something wonderful to read.

      @gay_phoebe@gay_phoebe5 жыл бұрын
