Those are 2 different homo species. Negritos are homosapiens. They probably intermixed with homoluzonesis. My 4 ft tall aunt is from Luzon. She look like she’s got some homoluzonesis genes.

DNA is also a great tool in determining what your dominant heritage is and therefore what wave your ancestors came to the Philippines. In my case mostly Austronesian.
I expect most modern Filipinos are Austronesian decent. It's pretty easy to tell from the dominant Filipino features of being brown, dark hair, and short nose.

All these studies gotta be taken with a grain of salt because every few decades, it changes. The truth is no one really knows.
It's the same as today. People migrate to Europe by boats from Africa, the Middle East, central Asia. Europe to America, North America to South America, South America to North America. People migrate due to various reasons. Famine, Wars, Economy, Jobs as for our very first migrants the Aetas they end up in Philippine islands to hunt. I still saw them gather in groups hunting for some wild deer and pigs in the 70's. They don't stay in one place. The more reason that these other migrants took over their land and if you have a corrupted lawyer or ninong in politics they just point the land then make a fake map and name it to yourself. The Philippines has now a law to protect these Indigenous people and gave them their rightful ownership of some of these communities.

That same study also mentions a Papuan migration to Mindanao. It seems that Mindanao was (and still is) the most melting pot part of the Philippines. It was inhabited by Negritos, the ancestors of the Manobo, Austroasiatic-like people (ancestors of the Sama), and Austronesians (or Cordillerans) in the ancient times. Today, it is where Islam really took root and today a major religion and strangely enough, the place where a Spanish creole language thrived the most even though Mindanao wasn't completely conquered by the Spanish.
The boundary between Muslims and Animists run through the future Manila when the Spanish arrived. The Muslims were driven further and further South leaving the more primitive Animists in scrublands not suitable to agriculture. 😃😃😃😃😃
Well, being from a small Lemurian clan, I agree Filipinos are varied.
Igorot are from the tribes of tibetan the one of the ancestors of Chinese. In Mindanao is from the tribes of sumaria. When the ancestors arrived in the land of Philippines they are in different tribes now. Take a look the culture and food Mindanao shares almost the same especially the kinilaw. Mindanao became Moro from the arrival of sultan when the war broke during the ottoman empire. That's the reason when there is war between kastila and Filipinos there's no back from Spain as their land is at war also by the ottoman empire and there are more empires came in their land. My great grandparents said that some Filipinos are the one will follow the steps of the appostles of Jesus when the mark of Cain will be implemented.

Could you update your sources? Although migrations proved to have come from either area, the earliest hominin bone fragments dating over 50k years ago were found in the North in the Callao Caves. Further collagen fingerprinting studies are required, but I suspect the bone fragments are more closely related to the Penghu 1 or other earlier similar bone fragments in Taiwan Straits. I also suspect that more bone fragments will be found in the near future between the neighboring Luzon and Taiwan.

Any theory that relies on "waves" is doomed to failure... Human migration is far more complex than such a simple model. Yes there will periods of population surges and heightened rates of migration, but the flow of populations both into and out of any region is a continuous process with constant mixing... Ironically entropic dispersion models from physics do a much better job modeling actual human migration patterns.
And how would they determine "waves" anyway. They have to prove that something had motivated each particular migration "wave" in order to confirm that it's a "wave." It such a copout theory, maybe just lazy wording.

I’ve only ever met Filipinos who are vaguely aware of the negritos in Asia. Other Asians deny the fact. I think the name negrito was also coined by a white Jewish man. They were called Ati people in the Philippines. Maniq people in Thailand, Semang people in Malaysia, Jomon people in Japan. All with Afro hair. And all this migration, maybe we’re meant to migrate like that. Instead today we all mostly dwell in one place, and the only “migration” that’s happening is more mongrelisation.

Interesting history. I wonder, do all Filipinos consider all Filipinos as indigenous people of the Philippines or just some groups? I live in the United States of America and although I’m not Filipino ancestry, a few of my cousins are mixed with Filipino ancestry. We live in southern Louisiana and the Filipino ancestry my cousins are mixed with is derived from the oldest Filipino settlement in the USA called St. Malo in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana (founded in the 1760’s when Louisiana was a colony of Spain and filipinos aboard spanish galleon ships arrived in Louisiana before the creation of the USA.)
Technically, the vast majority speak Indigenous tongues. And the whole country was under former U.S. borders. Which means they're all or mostly entirely culturally Indigenous, who were formerly under American borders. So even if they have different clans among them which are more or less of an Indigenous heritage than the other, culturally, they almost all speak Indigenous tongues, and the whole region was under American borders. So in regards to their relationship to Americans, they're all Indigenous. Much like how the Diné have many clans of different origins. Some have more Indigenous blood than the other but they were all culturally Indigenous.
The entirety speak mostly Native Austronesian tongues.

That's actually a very good question! We often forget that some of these lands "might" have been occupied by people or human-like species, native to the land. The first wave or so called "negritos" may have encountered and either inter-mingled with them or had conflicts with them and waged violence against them.

The Manila - Acapulco trade route (in the 1500's, before the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock) brought major cultural change to both the Philippines, and to the Acapulco area of Mexico, where Philippine workers migrated. Last names were connected to organization and taxation. Not speaking Spanish was due to distance. Too few of them came hence Malay languages prevailed.
