I feel like this song is a perfect example, of the current state of collective consciousness in the world right now. I’ve lost all my friends, my family, nobody talks anymore, nobody cares. We’re all in this life together, but I’ve never felt so alone, I’m longing for how things used to be. If you’re reading this, I love you and hope everything painful, turns into something beautiful and actually worth the pain.

Same. Live alone, no friends, only my elderly mom for family. Most ppl don't seem to be interested in making friends. At least I'm working on several health problems and making gradual progress on a couple. The years go by faster and faster. Let's make the pain turn to beauty. Keep going.

My husband of 26 years took his life. He was the love of my life. He had Bipolar disorder. When things were good, they were wonderful. When things weren’t good, they were so very difficult. But, if I could do it all over again, I’d still choose him, and if I could know what I know now, I’d do so much more to try to help him. This song may not have been written about this subject, but it really speaks to me. My family and I hurt so deeply, and I grieve for him all of the time.

Ouch, Star, I feel your pain. I suffered from bipolar, it's not pretty. I moved from Wisconsin to Vegas one month before 9/11, and was lucky enough to get a job running the Vegas branch of a national company. When this song came came on, it was my rule that everything came to a halt and the volume cranked. I hope you are doing well now, Star. Merry Christmas and happy holidays, and if you'd like to talk to a guy in Vegas, I'm here for you.

I am now carrying for my mom. She and my dad were married for 62 years. I can't imagine the heartache she fills every day. Dad, I am keeping my promise to take care of her. Yes! You get it. Much love back to you! YOUth & YOUthAtHeart - make sure everyday to give those who you consider your dad or mom, let them know that you love them & thanks for what they have given you. They don't have to be biological parents. Don't even have to be foster parents. They can simply be the adults that have and made a positive impact on your life. When you become an adult, in your own special way before it is too late, Say thanks to your mommy or daddy. "I am safe. You can retire. You can relax. I've got your back." It takes a village to raise a child. But it also takes a child to wreck havoc on the city. Dennis the Menance did it -why can't I? No, no, no. That's not how the game works....

This song is super underrated. My dad fought for over 7 years and poured every ounce of money and energy he had into getting custody of me and my sister. We were poor as dirt because of it but i wouldnt trade one second. He was paralyzed on his left side since he was 18 but never took any government assistance. He worked his crippled ass off every day to make sure we made it. This song always reminds me of the sacrifices he made to make sure we had a stable upbringing ❤️

That’s a really parent sweetheart and my daddy was the same way except our moms never wanted us especially my mom she really didn’t want me because I was born with spinal bifida my brother and sister mom just sucked in a different way. I’m happy your like me and seen the good that came out of us being raised by our dads even if we were dirt poor. Dang we lived off potatoes for along time but we loved it because he would makes us fries a lot, because that’s what we wanted dont with them. It was a treat to have hotdogs with it. Honestly I wouldn’t change it for anything. I’m happy to see you were happy just the same 😊

Leaving a comment to represent the kids like myself who didn't have the Dad that fought for them, who didn't protect them, and hurt them the most. This song takes a different perspective when you come from a place of longing for someone to take it all away and be there for you. He is dead now and I won't ever have a chance for it. Treat your kids with love and compassion because they remember forever.

This song came out in 2001. I remember I began listening to it when I moved to Seattle in 2003. There was a radio station called “The Funky Monkey”. 104.9. The guy at the station would call out the name of the band or singer and the name of the song. I began my freshman year of high school in 2003 and it was awesome to listen to this song on my Walkman on my way home from school on the bus. It was amazing to be a teenager during a time like this in the early 2000s with such beautiful music. Now at age 36, I can only reminisce my youth and tell my nieces and nephews about it. They’re all still kids under 13, but I hope they one day can realize how beautiful those times were. To my millennials born in the mid 80s to early 90s, I salute you. Father of mine is a narrative of my childhood, and unfortunately this song reflects a large portion of my years as a father. In the end, I ended up with full custody of both my children, met a wonderful woman who gave me an amazing stepson. Things DO get better, hang in there!!!! Much love ❤

God sent me this lyrical as a prophetic about my spouse to be (we have currently split). And apparently this is how he is feeling. Grown boy needs Jesus. And he's 60 years old come on now. Anyone else with these thoughts and feelings, I encourage you to look within why this person left and to also seek the face of God, humble yourself to your knees. And apologise for what you need to. God bless you.

People are allowed to have feelings at every age what does that even mean. Leaving the relationship doesn't make you the innocent one if that's what you're saying. It's easier to walk away than be held accountable. And that's not even the message here. If you relate to this song, it's because you understand the pain of what he's saying cuz you've been through it. You're belittling a grown man because he has feelings, you sound like a miserable person who hides behind a Bible.

I feel like this song is a perfect example, of the current state of collective consciousness in the world right now. I’ve lost all my friends, my family, nobody talks anymore, nobody cares. We’re all in this life together, but I’ve never felt so alone, I’m longing for how things used to be. If you’re reading this, I love you and hope everything painful, turns into something beautiful and actually worth the pain.
i hear this from so many men nowadays but never from any women

Bipolar's a hard thing to live with. You can't ever really hold onto any sense of who you are or what you can do because it's always changing.
All we can do is make the best of the time we have. It sounds like you chose wisely. God bless

YOUth & YOUthAtHeart - make sure everyday to give those who you consider your dad or mom, let them know that you love them & thanks for what they have given you. When you become an adult, in your own special way before it is too late, Say thanks to your mommy or daddy. "I am safe. You can retire. You can relax. I've got your back." My love is always
I am 50 and never imagined how nostalgic this would be for me. God help me I miss the 90’s more than my heart can say.
This is an 00s song but I understand the sentiment.
Same...I fully understand.
I missed out, born 2008 and wish I was there
I’m closing in on 40 and 😓😭😭😭 I wish we could have the 90s again. Much like Biden attempts at stairs we’re climbing downwards.
@michà bro I feel you. This was the last good times for humanity in this era. I wish we could have all stayed there together.
I’m happy to see you were happy just the same 😊
Struggle makes You stronger. Your Dad is an inspiration for the care he took of you through his struggles. God Bless You that you may overcome Your obstacles.@@beaby1977

Damn, same goes for my dad. Let's all be proud of the dads that are true fighters in life. Fighting for whats important. I know he taught me how to fight for my son. God bless you.
What relationship with you dad is more valuable than all the money in the world. My dad was the same he passed and I miss him every day. Take advantage of every day you have him.
Didn’t think life would get so hard the older you get, and the more you start thinking about anything and everything. I want to go back to when I heard this song for the first time
Leaving a comment to represent the kids like myself who didn't have the Dad that fought for them, who didn't protect them, and hurt them the most. This song takes a different perspective when you come from a place of longing for someone to take it all away and be there for you. He is dead now and I won't ever have a chance for it. Treat your kids with love and compassion because they remember forever.

Very good, sad, uplifting, cheerful song. Everyone played this band during that time. Heard them when I was growing up. It's 2024 now! Very good song.
This song brings back memories of when I was separated from my son. It served as an escape for me, allowing me to release all the frustration, anger, and longing I felt for my child. Music truly has a way of helping us cope with our emotions.
Remember listening to this song as a kid wondering where my dad was, hoping he would show up and save me from all the trauma going on in my childhood. Met him at 14 years old, stopped communicating at 16, and then found him on Facebook and stayed in touch up until his passing 2015. Addiction sucks. Rest in Heaven Dad. I know you were trying to turn your life around. I forgive you.
Your father is always watching you and he forgives u for what u haven't done yet..

Shut up with ya bible loving nonsense.
