  • Well, hope to see your mom again soon! When I soak and dehydrate different varieties of grains at the same time I use a dry erase marker on the jars and the sides of my dehydrator trays to keep them straight. I learned the hard way that “I’ll remember” is a lie I like to tell myself. 😂 Maybe you could use a post it note on the front of your dehydrator door.

  • I made up some homemade rice mixes like, rice a roni, did some dry muffin mixes , gravy mixes, brownie mixes, Swiss Mocha Coffee Mix. It just saves a little time having them already made up and in my pantry. It also saves money because I'm not having to buy all of these things at the store. The more we can make ourselves the less we have to buy.

I put up 5 pints of beef for BBQ sandwiches later, a tray of seasoned, roasted tomatoes for the freezer to eat later on sourdough discard flat bread layered with cream cheese. So yummy. Then I made a big pot of tomato, beef, rice for stuffing green peppers. I'm freezing the left overs for my lunches later and the remaining filling will be frozen for taco later. It was a good day! Tomorrow I will can the mushrooms I just finished prepping. They are so easy to can and so useful.

  • Is that the vacuum sealer from Costco? I went through two of them using the cups for removing oxygen and the nosel kept snapping off in the hole of the machine. I ended up ordering another food savor model FM 2100 not had a problem since, it came with it's own cups and hoses too. The old cups and hoses didn't fit this new machine. I have to use a seperate lid with the small cup to seal not sure why but it works. I hope your machine from Costco works for you. Dried fruit is not the same as dehydrated fruit, I would dehydrate or freeze dry the dried fruit for longer storage. I made crockpot candy for my grand children ( 5, 11, 11, 17, 21, 22) and pulled my hair out with my freeze drier is not working😐not productive as I like to be. Was very nice of you to share your time with your mom and the different adventures you both went on. Come back Jessica's mom and visit again like Xmas🤗for sure summer become a snow bird.
