Literally! Magneto is an old man hopped up on his own farts, coddled by his magnetic powers. What he experienced was an ontological shock, a trauma. Magneto realized that his own hype was all just hot air, having been defeated by a children's trick, so he's basically reduced to a babbling moron. "A wooden gun... he tricked me with a wooden gun! A wooden gun!" It's difficult to put into words the level of violent decentering that Magneto must have experienced here.

In the golden silver and bronze ages of comics they portray comics in 3rd person narrative voice. Its tedious to read in todays standard. Long winded, a comic that would have finished reading in 10 mins turn to 30 mins. This trend even trickled to the early 90s... but when the comic industry crisis happened in late 90s to millennium, they revamped comics to better suit younger generations and do away with the old style. And now... they revamped it again for inclusion by reintroducing super heroes in family lives, ethnic minorities, average teenagers, average bodies... no more muscular bodies or sexy hot babes. Currently, main characters still roughly maintain their image as in the millennium but who knows few yrs later things could change...

Long winded, a comic that would have finished reading in 10 mins turn to 30 mins. This trend even trickled to the early 90s... but when the comic industry crisis happened in late 90s to millennium, they revamped comics to better suit younger generations and do away with the old style. And now... they revamped it again for inclusion by reintroducing super heroes in family lives, ethnic minorities, average teenagers, average bodies... no more muscular bodies or sexy hot babes. Currently, main characters still roughly maintain their image as in the millennium but who knows few yrs later things could change...
