His dad is a famous singer in Kazakhstan, which is why Dimash went abroad to prove himself -- to sing somewhere he wouldn't be known because of his family name. You can see his dad in the audience when he sings Opera 2 -- the camera cuts to a good looking older man from time to time. That's his father.

This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and didn't speak any Chinese at that time], and he was the least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode]. "You have been officially Dimashified " He's super talented, I agree someone like his talent should be known worldwide.
