  • Drew’s point about it being about what you eat and not what you don’t eat because just not eating is bad, is an important concept my dietician explained while helping me recover from an eating disorder. Health wise, it’s literally better to eat junk food than to not eat at all. Proper food groups are important but not as important as not starving. It’s like the most shocking obvious thing ever.

    @elliot-sowdon@elliot-sowdon9 ай бұрын
    • yup, i had this exact same revelation coming out of my ED. it was a huge barrier to get through because i felt like it was encouraging my laziness and 'bad diet' but it really helped me overcome it!! food is fuel and running on empty is not an option

      @amyisaway7800@amyisaway78006 ай бұрын
    • @@amyisaway7800 yeah I deal with ARFID and the main thing there is only wanting to eat familiar/preferred foods. Unfortunately, most of my favorites are high in sugar and/or carbs. So I sorta had this idea that it was better to eat nothing because I wanted “bad” food. That was wrong and also being very hungry usually causes the body to crave sugar and/or carbs because it’s energy and like you’re out of fuel. So like now I try to eat a more well rounded diet, but I also regularly have candy and ice cream and feel way way better than when I was severely underweight.

    @TheShadowcreator@TheShadowcreator Жыл бұрын
    • My go to for a lazy healthy meal is overnight oats. You can use water if you want it low calorie and cheap. Milk if you want some more calories. Plant milk if you don't eat dairy. You can add any nut butter for extra protein and healthy fat. Same for chia seeds (tho they can be a little pricey, but you only need a tablespoon). And you can sweeten it with half a mashed banana if you don't want to add sugar. You can also add frozen fruit for some more vitamins and flavor. Super easy. It literally takes 5 minutes of prep and you have breakfast the next morning and it lasts up to 4 days in the fridge so you only have to make it twice a week. I like making mine in mini mason jars. You can heat them up in the microwave if you prefer hot oatmeal (make sure the metal lids are off) Also, on week's when bagged salad kits are on sale 2 for $5, I'll get those for lunch. Turn the bag sideways, cut it open on the long edge, and then the bag turns into a bowl so no dirty dishes! You can also add rotisserie chicken or canned beans for protein on days when you don't have time to cook those things from scratch. Those two "hacks" make the work week so much smoother and saves you money. That way all you have to worry about is dinner. If you don't feel like cooking often, do something like make a big batch of chili for cheap on Sunday and then you'll have dinner for the week and it freezes great if you get sick of it. (I really recommend any of the chili recipes from The Food Lab by Kenji Lopez Alt, who also has a cooking KZhead channel) Hope that helps!

  • Thank you so much for addressing how expensive really healthy eating is. I've been trying to eat more anti-inflammatory foods per my doctor's recommendation to potentially treat some of my medical issues, and what I've found is that so much of this stuff is more expensive in about four different ways: the higher sticker prices, the smaller quantities, the less filling ingredients, and the quicker expiration times. Easily less than half of what I eat fits my doctor-recommended diet because I simply can't afford more.

    @M2ofEMMM@M2ofEMMM Жыл бұрын
    • I think there are some foods and food groups that most people in nutritional science can confidently say are altogether unhealthy, but you could probably find one pro- and one anti- advocate for every known “healthy” food there is. Nutrition science is very much divided. As much as I have come to know nutrition, the word “healthy” is not helpful. You need a goal to determine your eating, and it sounds like you’ve done that. Fat loss? Longevity? Thyroid health? Inflammation? Fertility? A food choice for fat loss might be one to avoid for thyroid health even as both may be considered healthy in commonplace nutrition. Then it gets complicated, and it paralyses people’s decision making. What are people to do, other than eat “healthy” foods that their doctor advises, that happen to be expensive? I don’t blame them and I don’t know the solution.

    • Don't sleep on frozen produce! It's harvested at peak ripeness, doesn't go bad as easily, and is usually cheaper than fresh produce. Also, buying dried beans is like 5x cheaper than canned and contain no sodium. Soak them overnight in your fridge, and they'll cook way faster. Plus the aqua fava (bean juice) can be rinsed away if beans upset your stomach, or (even better) if it doesn't upset your stomach it works in a bunch of vegan recipes for things like replacements for egg whites and it's free if you're already buying beans. Just be mindful of your B12 if you cut out or reduce animal products and/or if you drink a lot of alcohol; you may need a supplement

Then they kissed and they hugged and the kiss was awesome and the hug was awesome. There was so much love in this kiss - but it was never really about her and it was never really about him. It was about the people who were there to cheer them on. She'd always been there for him. He'd always been there for her, when he needed it. It was time to leave. They left the house packed into a car going to San Fran. It took them two days to get there. It took them another two days to find their apartment. It took them two days to find the bathroom. And It took them two days to find the shower. There was lots of weird things happening there. There were things about the beach, the people, the people were sick and tired of the beach, the waterfalls, the wind, the winds. The beach was like a ghost town, filled with nothing but weird stuff. People were playing games and joking with ghouls.

She thought at first it was a result of the dieting, but really she just had a problem digesting sugar. Now she can eat whatever she likes, just without much sugar, and there’s no pain. I think a lot of people turn to diets as a universal cure, but actually we have pretty specific problems that can be solved with less extreme measures. A lot of diets can be pretty unhealthy. • With regards to the water bottle, the website states that Tom drinks 5 bottles of water on "active days", implying that he's either playing football or training, both of which would drain the water from your stomach/bladder (from sweat, being absorbed into the blood and muscles and regulating body temperature) a lot quicker than if you sit around a lot of the time like I assume Drew does. Hence, Drew needing to piss a lot.

The harder you work, the more you sweat. The more you sweat, the less you will have to urinate. Im an arborist by trade here in Las Vegas. Each summer I end up easily drinking well over a gallon of water during an 8hr workday and won't have to urinate once.
