Been meaning to build these for a while! Just in time for summer and the bushfire season. Thanks for watching :)
Follow up video where I answer your questions etc here - • Firefighting Trailer B...
Every campground host should have one of these. Especially during fire season.
Very handy to have!!
Best video I’ve seen for a fire fighting unit. Cheers.
Much appreciated mate!
Great project, use the metal sheet on the IBC to give another person a clue which way to set the valves for pumping water and for drawing water up. Pictures work best in a stress situation.
That is exactly what i need to do to my similar fire trailer...... i live in Portugal now so writing in English wont be any good if i have a Portuguese guy with me
If you want to prevent water slosh, cheap baffling is use softball woofle balls, fill it up.
Having just completed my own setup last month its worth time and money spent putting together best advice is fully camlock all your hose connections for quick attach and detach when you aren't using them I used a t piece with 2 valves for supply line to pump from tank and also a secondary one for suction also used the release outlet as my filler hose that goes right into the tank outlet on right side t piece connected to the tank outlet
Very nice build, that's going on my to do list! Don't forget to vent the top cap, that pump will collapse the ibc tote easily. Lol
Thanks, yep you are absolutely right. I always leave the fill cap loose for that reason. It also has a 10mm hole in the centre of the cap anyway.
nice job .i find when hauling liquid having tank baffles is a lifesaver . Baffle balls are great but not cheap . Slotted drain coil (called Big O in in my neck of the woods ) is a very cost effective solution (easy to find bunnings has it )very cheap or even free if old scrap or damaged . That way you dont slosh if you have to move with less than a full tank especially on something lite like a quad . thats what i am using in my ibc .
Yep, would definitely help but probably not worth it just for a property fire unit! Thanks mate
Nice work!
Thanks!
Best description of a build I have seen, not long winded and not treating watchers like dick heads. Good onya mate
Cheers mate!
You're a very good fabricator sir. I'm building a fire pumper setup for my pickup but want to do a trailer build like this for me 4 wheeler as well.
Thanks mate, good luck with your build!
Great video. No need for the top hose going into the IBC as you can fill the tank up from the bottom existing outlet.
Thanks! Although I'm not sure how I would fill from the bottom outlet when that is my suction point?
well done!
Thanks!
please equalize your music with your volume.. its very annoying having to lower and raise volume all the time good build thanks for the idea
Yep, cheers for the feedback. Noted! Pretty new to this editing thing so will try to improve on every video :)
The reel hose and nozzle combo look real good, what brand are they?
They are all different brands mate, just second hand ones that have come off commercial buildings as I believe they have to be changed every 10 years or so.
nice compact build mate!, what thickness RHS did you use for the chassis 3mm or 5mm?
Cheers! 2.5mm galv RHS mate. If I was building a road registered one I would go the 3mm.
Cheers for the reply mate
That’s awesome
Thanks!!
Very nice build. Thanks for sharing. Been meaning to build something like this myself using an old water tote. Couple of questions for you.... Is that a 1000 litre tote? When it's full, could you pull it with the quad? I guess because of the trailer tire height and when hooked up to the quad there is a definite front slope towards the hitch. Would that not put too much weight on the hitch when full? What size are the rear tires/rims. What is the weight rating on those axles? Thanks again for this video. I'm a little ways from you in Canada here.
Thanks mate! Correct, they are 1000 litre "totes" we call them IBC's here in Aus :) Yep, quad can pull it ok when full. I use low range 4x4 though so I don't over work the CVT. Keep in mind I definitely wouldn't be going up or down any steep inclines when full, it would weigh 3 times the quad and rider so it would end in tears pretty quickly. Ball weight isn't too bad when full, I can actually pick the hitch end up quite easily which is what I wanted to be able to hook it up quickly in an emergency. Keep in mind when its full if you are going uphill it will be negative ball weight and downhill you will get more ball weight. Obviously this has all to do with the axle position. I used 45mm square axles which are rated to 1500kg Wheels are factory VDJ 76 and 79 Landcruiser items, 16 inch. Can't remember tyre size off the top of my head and I can't be bothered running down to the sheds lol. If I was to ever replace the tyres I think I would go with a slightly smaller profile. I was just using what I had. The 3rd one I made with the ford rims sat a bit nicer as it was lower to the ground. Thanks a lot for the comment mate, you live in a lovely part of the world! I need to get over there one day soon :)
couple of suggestions. 1. Check your audio before releasing a video...constantly having to adjust my volume. Not cool. 2. A lot of great work for a mediocre volume and pressure...get a higher HP engine and bigger hose. 3. Nice work...great video except for volume auditing. Thumbs up mate.
Lol the bed leg got me 😂
Does the job perfect!
Great build. I would be interested in a schematic for the water flow if you could share it. Thanks.
Don't have any schematics sorry mate
Could you make a video on a pond siphoned into the IBC container?
I think i will do a follow up video on the fire trailer as it has been super popular and a lot of people have questions about it :)
Great build video. What length axle did you use?
Thanks! 1120mm from memory mate
So I stumbled onto the parts order paperwork today... Axle was 1480mm tip to tip. Cheers
Pulling that loaded behind an atv would require a lot of care. That much weight behind could jacknife real easy
Great video mate. Were they 60” axles?
Thanks mate, they were 1480mm tip to tip so about 58"
What was the length of the axle there? Thanks mate.
Hmmm i have 1120mm in my head but don't quote me on that! Was a fair while ago
@@aheindustries thanks mate 👍
I had a look at some of the trailer component companies and they offer a few spring weight. What did you put on these?
1250kg rated springs mate
Where do you get all the components for the build? Keen to have a go at one
All the plumbing parts and pump come from my local irrigation/water shop. The steel and trailer parts are pretty self-explanatory I would assume! IBC, Fire Reel and wheels from sellers on Marketplace etc
can i get a paets list for the fire fighter please? i am very impressed
If I build another few I will itemise the parts for you!
Just wondering if you are a firefighter any where
No I'm not, just a washed up truckie lol
Can you tell me the total amount of money you have into one of these units?
What is the hose size are you using an what is the psi from the pump?
1 inch to fire hose, 2 inch recirc hose and 2.5 inch from IBC outlet. Not sure about PSI sorry
What kind of pump this?
This particular one was an ebay unit.
Most annoying and unbalanced loud music I’ve ever heard.
Everyone has to learn....... Thanks for the kind comment!
The loud, annoying music has got to go! Or speak louder.
Yep, rookie editor here... still learning mate
@@aheindustries The content of the video was good. I found it very informative. I was trying to listen to it in my truck and kept having to adjust the volume. Keep up the good work sir! Kudos from the USA! 🇺🇸
Hey I was wondering what quad do you pull that with ?
Its a CF Moto 400 4x4. Does the job ok!
