RIP Sean Edwards….I watch this video about every six months and it gets me every time. Brilliant driving by such a talented young man….gone, lost waaaay too young.
Me too!
Incredible driving skills. What an intense race with the blue 911. Doesn't get any better than that.
Easily one of the best driving performances I have ever seen. Legend!
For those wondering he's keeping up with full spec GT3 cars and RSR's in a Cup Car, that are two classes above him, this is simply amazing, RIP.
he´s driving a full spect gt3 car aswell
Dennis Rudson didnt know an 997 mk1 cup is an full spec gt3 car
It's in the title says 997 gt3 cup...
@@debbierigby6304 The problem is that the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car is not a full spec GT3 class car. In the 997 generation 911 Porsche actually had 5 models which had "GT3" in their name, but only one was a "GT3 spec" car. There was the road going standard GT3, a different road car called the GT3 RS, a racing version of the RS called the RSR, a Porsche cup racing version of the standard GT3 model called the GT3 cup (which Sean drove in this video) and finally an FIA GT3 spec racing version of the standard road going GT3 called the GT3 R. Confusing enough? The reason for this is that Porsche started naming their models GT3 before GT3 even became a racing class, so they're just continuing the tradition. They first used it on the 996 generation 911 I believe, which came out in 1999 whilst the GT3 class was created in 2005. So yes, Sean is actually driving a cup car, which is a lower class than FIA GT3 spec and lower class than the GT3 RSR. This stuff is even confusing for a Porsche fanboy like myself so it's understandable that you got bamboozled by it.

Man I’ve become such a huge fan of Sean Edwards sadly after he passed. I’ve watched so many of his races. He was a phenomenal driver and his loss is a loss for all of Motorsport.
Sean Edwards was an incredible driver, and this video is proof. He is patient, level headed, and aggressive when it suits him. The most impressive though, to me, is the consistency and simplicity to his driving style. He never overdrives the car. You watch some onboard videos with drivers sawing at the wheel...Not this guy.
i wish he has in Le Mans before he passed - he would be a really good driver in a Porsche in GT Pro class
I fully agree with you. Fantastic driving skills.
He passed away? OMG Such talent!
He is letting the car do the work.
True
This is extraordinary driving. I didn't know who he was, but I read all about him after watching this video. RIP Sean.
Aris Konstantinidis how did he die?
G Kess while coaching a customer , customer crashed the car at the track and he died
@@288gto7 that shit is so sad i read this after of watch the great Video !
@@288gto7 that's awful I never knew Sean before this video

beautiful beautiful driving. RIP Sean Edwards you legend
one of the best in-car videos at Nürburgring forever!
Oh yeah those are my 2 favourite videos!
i always end up coming at this one
Yesssssssss!!!!
@@schiedinator8074 pñ
Yes indeed. I thought it was another race more but not. Thank you for this wonderful hour:)
Wow, absolutely one of the best racers I've ever seen. Super aggressive but not dangerous, what talent. I pray God had mercy on him. 🙏
Sean Edwards was the best of his time and “Untouchable” at times!.
Sean Edwards was soo consistent. One of the best drivers ever. This video is one of the best (if not THE BEST) racing video on KZhead.
Wow! I did not expect to get that into this clip. Entertaining for sure to see a racer so in control and at a different level than his competition. A shame to lose talent like that. RIP Sean.
He overtook everything he came across whether they were in a faster car or talented too...but unlike Dale Earnhardt he never pushed anyone out if the way to get by. He was precise and always looking several moves ahead sizing up his next victim without losing his flow and rhythm. Truly magical command of his machine, while almost motionless in his seat...except for his rapier like flick of the shifter, always in the correct gear, never over doing any transition, or shift....and to focus that intently during the high speed chaos and for a LONG time. Simply sublime, he was truly doing what he was gifted to do...and I'm kinda proud it was in my fav marque as well. There is no substitute for the man or the machine.
10 years today. Never forgotten. 🙏❤
Boy, he was quick. He made it look like he was racing against a class below his.
He was racing against classes below his. He qualified in last of 150 or so entries - must have been a tech problem or penalty. He actually started around 115th though. The next car up the track in his class would have been around 70th. Still was very talented.
@@SPCEMN3 he is in a cup spec car, so every Porsche you see is either equal or higher spec, not lower. He is racing against fully fledged GT3 cars in a cup spec.
@@silversteve-o68 Look at title bro hes in a GT3. The blue sex bomb porsche was a gt3 aswell you could see
@@jiska111111111111111 GT3 Cup car
@@jiska111111111111111 the Porsche that races in GT3 is not this car. It's the GT3-R. This is a Cup car. Which is basically a stock production 911 GT3 slightly nodded and stripped out I believe
I enjoyed watching this man driving onboard. Briliant video
Clearly one of the best lap after lap Nurburgring videos to learn corner entry/apex/exit lessons from. Sean was an amazing driver.
I had never seen this footage. But here I am in 2019 watching this absolute monster of a driver thinking "Wow, that is just exceptional level of talent" He was one with the car and that is rare and a joy to watch. Requiescat in pace Sean!
Sean Edwards was one of those naturally gifted pilots. An aggressive driving style, but he did it in a very relaxed way, taking his time to creep up on someone to then overtake decisively and mercilessly. Such a shame he lost his life in such a stupid accident through no fault of his own.
this guy know the car inside and out, all the limits, amazing to watch haha
O my I was glued to the screen, fantastic thank you for your time and talent.
One week on from his passing, this footage defines how I choose to remember Sean which is to say, the exact the same way I first became aware of him: a driver blessed with a effortless speed, car control and an elephants memory to remember every bump, compression and camber to set the car up so he could do stuff no one else could. All signed off of course, with a quite remarkable level of composure behind the wheel (see video above), racecraft and judgement. Rest in peace Sean. We miss you.
Come back to this all the time, bro was a beast, aggressive but cool and collected
Honestly anyone who says Motorsport is boring doesn't comprehend the level of skill and professionalism it takes to be as good as Sean Edwards. Having the skill is one thing but mentally maintaining your composure for that one moment that you can pass up another driver whom races in the same class as you is a make or break trait that few have which is why I LOVE this sport so much. Not only is it dangerous to drive as fast as these pros; do but letting your frustration and impatience affect your judgement is the mentality of an amateur which is why I respect them as much as I do. RIP Sean Edwards your driving and mental fortitude will be missed in the world of Motorsport.
WHAT A DRIVER !!! Every single decision was the correct one and he picked up time everywhere, on the GP section he was incredibly fast, even passing a couple of GT3's with more BHP. RIP Sean, a great loss the the world of motorsport and to the VLN especially.
Sean was one of the greatest !!!! RIP
+Mark J what happened to him?
logbasher thats so sad to hear :(
@@DumpedClutch On 15 October 2013, Edwards was killed in a crash during a private session at Queensland Raceway in Willowbank, Queensland
I love how he goes to the outside and aims right for the apex. Awesome lines.
exactly my thought! I use it in SIM and now learned even better from watching him, Such awesome lines.
Def taking notes for GT sport 😂
I just had one of the best hours of my life. Thank you Sean Edwards, wherever you are, rest in peace.
I'm Brazilian and I watched the whole race, I went to search for more races of this pilot and I was sad to know that he died, he had a gift in the machine's out of the ordinary.

Why so many downvotes? This is legendary drive by an absolute beast. RIP Sean Edwards.
Haters, literally. The man passed away and idiots still have the nerve. They’re the ones that don’t move over when they’re slower.
Doped car and driver. What an absolutely incredible performance and driving. Class.
Best onboard on KZhead
28mins in, that pass. 👌The skill levels and reaction times are incredible. To battle like that so close for 2 laps. Utterly magnificent. The guy in the black GT3 also.

Brave impropite race for cardiacs... An Excellent Pilot and a Beautiful Machine... Loved... Congratulations to the Pilot to the whole Team... I didn't know where it was... finished the video just like that... but what I saw fantastic fai ......
28:22 that moment when he surpasses that guy... that was a great feeling
Alex Cyan who was in the other car? brilliant drive both of them!
He told him to push him to the front. Drive together in other words. It's faster that way without passing.
which guy?
I jumped to 25 minutes to enjoy the set-up and was screaming when he finally got by him the time you mentioned.
Incredible battle, would’ve loved to see the onboard from the civic when they passed on either side!
Fenomenal driving skills, perfect ballanced car, respectful driver...no tyre squeaks. Huge respect. Drive safe in heavean, Sean!
One of my fav pieces of driving footage ever - amazing driver - looking so effortless - a gem
Good driving Mr Edwards ,you are the best you drive in the right gears to keep the RPM up excellent
I rarely watch an entire youtube video till the end, this was 100% toe curling, Sean Edwards is a really talented driver. Brilliant viewing
Was a tralented driver. Sadly.
I have tears in my eyes. Both from that pure genious driving skills above any other and because of him racing in heaven. Wishing all the best to his family and friends.

Geez!!! It's like he was on RS when everyone else was on RH!!! Awesome drive. RIP. 🙏
Das war einer der Allerbesten den die Nordschleife je gesehen hat....Bei diesem Lauf war ich am Flugplatz dabei, an die abgestreute Ölspur erinnere ich mich noch gut.
That's a man on a mission right there ! Amazing to watch !
I watch race car videos almost every night and honestly this guy is one of the best I seen driving ( level senna).
I spent some time with Sean and the MOMO crew one time at Mosport, he was a real class act, RIP young man!
The legend that today is a Star❤🥺
Incredible to watch! So smooth. Never hesitates. Retains absolute concentration and fights till the bitter end.
Big talent. RIP, brother.
The way that car turns in by itself after he puts it at a bit of an angle is incredibly satisfying.
Man, this kids is a pro! I salute Sean Edwards 👋🏻😀!

Yes! He was a natural racer!
Porsches are the best track cars. There's no way. Greetings Vascaínas, Manaus-AM, Brazil.
this is absolutely mesmerising. flawless driving. so cool, collected and patient. I watched the whole hour and 3 odd minutes and it flew by. and in that hour of driving he only showed his "displeasure" once at 58:52 when the other car changed position on track too late. I think a lot of F1 drivers could learn a lot from this guy. hats off
Epic driving. Ultra smooth, deliberate, relaxed, he hangs back and wide and never seems to get greedy for the apex. He's courteous, patient, and so damn fast. You in that car is a very inspiring thing for us hacks.
From 15:15 that is the most impressive racing ive ever seen. My palms were sweating. Amazing!!
totally insane driving. Always awesome.
23:06 rev limit moment. Great upload thanks so much.
If only he was driving that time in 2013, we'd still see this amazing man racing by now.
RIP Sean the racing world will always miss you.
One of my all time favorite, go-to, feel good videos on you tube👍👍👍👍
The only thing that could make this better is seeing which gear he is in👍🏾 awesome!
What a talented driver. What a terrible loss .
Wow. What a drive! From reading the comments I learned he died a couple of years later. I don't recall seeing him race before but his performance here was amazing. I'm sorry to hear about his death. My condolences to his friends and family. R.I.P., Sean Edwards.
RIP Master, I appreciate this video. Thank you

Great driver, excellent racing. Allthough the vid is a few years old already, I am enjoying every second of it.
Великий гонщик!!! Он и машина одно целое!!! Царство небесное Профессор вождения....
Everytime i watch him racing other cars like that i'm just amazed, the relax looks he has its so sad we lost him and i hope he is doing what he loved to do in heaven. RIP Sean edwards.
He was one of my idols... He had Grate tempo and could keep it up for a long time keeping it on the edge with out stepping over as you se in this video... Lots of driver dropping the tempo for a while in endurence racing due to getting tierd in the head after lots of laps but not this guy he was like a machine just kept on going the whole race at the egde... Grate driver sad he passed away so early...
RIP Sean Edwards :( An awesome talent who will be sorely missed by the motorsport world and never forgotten.
It's amazing. I lost track of time while watching
Excellent driving, video footage and car.
That gearbox is getting put through its paces, damn....
I watched this several times. Gret driver, car and camera angles. Missing was a speed - tach camera view.
Mesmerising driving skills. Shocked at the time of his untimely passing. Such a talent at one with the car. Not seen this video, having followed him when he was racing before but just make’s me remember his superb skill as a driver.
This is the most realistic version of you actually being behind the wheel that I have ever seen my adrenaline was totally pumping as I'm turning my phone like a steering wheel freaking awesome...please make more😃

Wow. This is my new training video for Iracing. lol. Great driving.
+CCL71 precisely. I've been watching this channel's VLN videos for several years now. hundreds of laps. Had never attempted the Nurburgring before in any sim but when I hooked up the combined course in iracing other day, was immediately comfortable. It's easy if you leave yourself a little breathing room.
That's just it though, anyone can drive fast, it's those tenths that separate the men from the boys.
What an honour to watch such magnificent driving. RIP at 26 What a tragedy for Sean and all of us to not see his career grow any further. Every Race driver should study this clip. He nails every inch of The Ring. Not many can say that.
Amazing. So lange Zeit auf der absolut letzten Rille zu fahren und so viele Plätze gut zu machen, das ist beeindruckend. RESPEKT
