  • Africa is a Golden Continent From Somalia One Africa

    @somalianman2255@somalianman22554 жыл бұрын
    • Bro, I appreciate your sentiments for a united Africa being "One". But Africa is far too diverse with too many different languages, culture, history, ideals and aspirations. Take Somalia for instance ; it must be the the most divided country in the world, fighting each other tooth and nail. By all standards, it is regarded as a "failed state". Just how do you propose to unite an entire continent if you can't even unite and reconcile one country? Let's be realistic before being idealistic. Africa's potential is largely underutilized and unrealized. Each country must first realize it's own potential, utilize it's own resources, develop it's own people and infrastructure and succeed on it's own without aid from abroad. And then, through co-operation with their neighbors, develop a sub-region before tackling the continent as a whole. If not, then one strong nation will over power another and exploit the weaker one. An artificially united Africa will quickly be subject to immense power struggles and it will quickly be "hijacked" by unscrupulous, power hungry individuals that will dump the entire continent into crisis. Uniting Africa through sentiment alone will make it weaker, not stronger and will tear itself apart.

    • Can you be happy realizing you spent on this trip a sum which is equivalent of 5 to 10 years of a big family income in Tanzanian town? And when you visit to town the same way as you visited to the game park?

      @zmalol@zmalol2 жыл бұрын
    • @zmalol m Yes I can be happy. Or am I not supposed to enjoy life because i work hard and earn a lot of money because there might be some poor people in that area or the average person there makes less than I do. Should the train not go through there even though it might create jobs or maybe revenue for the locals? What am I allowed to actually do if I cant go on this nice train? Let me know or would you vote to shut down the train all together because not everyone can afford to ride it.

      @TheRedDevil_NC@TheRedDevil_NC2 жыл бұрын
    • @@TheRedDevil_NC I am a traveler, so I can afford what poor people can't. But I try to make it in "a sustainable" way using local transport and eating in popular eateries. I try to mingle with locals but of course I know there always will be a contrast and as you pointed out the local's income from my travels are no the same as from these rich people. Well, answering your question, I vote to lower the standard and the price of the train trip letting the rich passengers to donate the remaining amount to communities on the way they are passing through. Mr RoVos could be this way a more serious guy I think.

      @zmalol@zmalol2 жыл бұрын
    • @@zmalol I would love that idea, but I can't see Rovos give up their high-end luxury status. Bringing time and patience to travel by local ordinary trains sound a lot more appealing to me (if there are any other passenger trains there)

I've was in Zimbabwe in 1990 (before it was ruined by Mugabe) and Ghana in 1974 for the Peace Corps and have always wanted to go back for more, because Africa is a truly magical place that transported me back to humanity's original homeland. • Not only the train but the railroad itself seems to be in really good condition. As they crossed bridges, I saw no rust. The stations seemed clean, the safari jeeps new, and the streets peaceful. Amazing, really. I have to wonder how much tickets cost. Must be a small fortune.
