WE’RE JASON AND NIKKI WYNN. A couple of modern-day documentarians, perpetual travelers, and seekers of tall tales.
We’ve been chasing our curiosity around the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Why? Because curiosity is the key to unlocking life. It pushes us outside our comfort zone, softens our assumptions, and helps us embrace the great unknown. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us.
Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. Self-reliance and living a sustainable lifestyle are a must. It's all about managing our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so.
We've lived off the grid for over 10 years now in everything from a Van to RV to a Sailboat. And over time we have learned a lot about renewable energy, creating safe drinking water, and managing our waste.
Our journey is ever-evolving but the mission remains the same: #CultivateCuriosity

  • I had a dream of sailing around the world when I reached 40, which for a number of reasons never quite materialized. Now at the age of 81, I get to sail around the world, and,more importantly,mess around in boats, with you guys. Many thanks.

    • Agreed. 71 and love experiencing this dream through other eyes. I never had this dream, but it seems so cool. I grew up poor and just getting a career, owning a home and getting retirement squared away was the big obsession. I wish I had spent more time creating experiences, but I just didn't have this frame of mind. With KZhead I am seeing so much more of the world than I ever knew was possible.

  • Great job on the video. My wife and I sailed around the world in the 90's, in an old 35 ft sloop. No fridge, no hot water, no air conditioning, didn't have any long range radio or ham radio, no computers or phones, no water maker, a sextant and mountains of paper charts. I've never felt as alive as the years I spent on the deck of that boat. What we noticed when we spent time in ports, is that people with all the technology spent a great deal of time repairing it, while we were on the beach drinking beer or exploring the local area. If I was to do it again, and had a couple million burning a hole in my pocket, I would definitely give this boat a close look, but I'm still a minimalist at heart. Ropes and pulleys rarely break down, and the focus can be on the voyage as opposed to the boat. That said, my wife would love this boat.

  • Hey guys the 5 knots sounds like a safety feature for the new engine and transmission. Call the manufacturer and check if there is an hour's mark when the engine and transmission unlock.

    @derrickcox6299@derrickcox6299Ай бұрын
    • There’s no such thing as an “Engine unlock”. Some motors are detuned, boat motors are not. Detuned motors require EFI mapping updates. The problem is the pitch of his prop.

      @stonehorn4641@stonehorn4641Ай бұрын
    • @@stonehorn4641 This is a standard feature on BRP vehicles. Im currently going through the 5 hr engine break-in on a new PWC. It limits maximum RPM. Once you exceed the 5 hr period the ECU allows for full RPM. It does not require reprogramming. It's all done by the ECU via factory programming. This may not be the case with the boat in question. But, to say "there's no such thing" is just not correct.

    • There are a few very nice boat on YT. This catamaran is 1 but Yaba a traditional 2-master will be nice as well. traditional just like Magic Carpet 2. Then there is that Wharram traditional catemaran that is being refitted in Amsterdam and All these boats are totally different but i like them all.

  • Beautiful boat. I think I recall you saying that HH had not given you any significant discount in return for promoting their business through your channel, but based on the quality of the build and design, and the good impression the HH owners and employees have made on camera over the last few months, I think their business and reputation is going to get a massive boost. I would not hesitate in buying an HH based on what I have seen.

  • You guys make it feel like the audience is right there with you on the boat which I don't get as much from most other youtubers. Something about your genuinness and the cozy settings on the boat you had a hand in designing makes that happen. I walk around the adobe cabin I am in and I feel like I am on your boat! after I watch a few episodes. I like it bc/ i get that 'great escape' feeling without going anywhere. I do plan a journey for August tho meeting a sailing buddy in Thailand. But watching your adventures through my long difficult winter in the mountains was a beautiful escape every time. Thanx so much! Maybe I'll meet you some day in the Marqueses and sleep in the guest hull! with the AC ;)

  • Good for you two. This is wonderful. These adventures will be with you for a lifetime. It’s seems scary to go to sea on a small boat - but you have it sorted. I also think it’s great that you are doing this at a young age - now that I’m older - whilst I have the means, I am not physically capable of doing such a thing. Thank you so much for making these videos- as it takes me along - at least in my mind. Cheers, good luck and smooth sailing!

  • My mother felt the same way about her kitchen as you feel about yours. She also had a u shaped layout, with a small peninsula separating her domain, the food preparation area, from the kitchen table where her 6 children devoured her offerings with not nearly as much appreciation as we should have shown. On the side of the fridge was a small sign - "Welcome to my kitchen. Now get out." As we grew up, we also grew to appreciate her skills, and we have all tried to follow in her footsteps. Love the boat, love the kitchen, enjoy!

    @rayopeongo@rayopeongo2 ай бұрын
    • We had a “galley kitchen” in our last house, which was basically two parallel counters about four feet apart. I really liked it because everything you needed was right there together and you could work very efficiently. Only issue was in that particular house the door to the house was on one end and the rest of the house on the other, so everyone had to walk through the kitchen to go anywhere which was a real pain and annoyance when cooking. In our new house we have a huge, beautiful kitchen. Everyone loves it. But I hate it because everything is so spread out and I feel like I’m running a marathon to cook. No longer are the fridge, sink and stove within a step or two of each other. Now they’re yards apart. I know, first world problem. But I do miss my boat style kitchen!!

  • You and HH seem to have thought of everything to give a couple a really well found usable boat. The fuel polishing system will give you such peace of mind when taking on fuel from a dodgy source. And of course maintain the fuel over the months when you store it so that you don't end up with the dreaded diesel bug

  • Seems like a really well thought out self reliant sailing home. I think it is beautiful. I love the form follows function of a really well thought out space. So many boat tours are of charter vessels built to sleep as many people as possible. This is perfect for primarily two with the option of a couple as guests or a bunch of people for an evening. But most important, I think it would be a great place for two to call home while experiencing the world. I look forward to seeing the deep dive on all of it as you use it. Also would be interested to know approximately how much this set up costs all in with the tender as built.

There is one thing that my father said, who just recently passed away, that has always left me wonder, "everything you do, whether you get drunk, whether you travel, whether you change job, etc. do it because you love it, because it is meaningful to your life, because it makes you happy... just don't do it because you want to escape from something..." I think it is very true for you, perhaps that is why you look so happy and self-realized.

Overall, I absolutely love all of the thoughtful design features....what a fantastic yacht - congratulations you two and thanks for a well-done tour.
