3 Basic Ways to Throw with a Shepherd Sling with David the Shepherd

There are 3 basic ways to throw with a shepherd sling:
1. Underhand "Beginner" Throw
Place the end with the loop around your finger and hold the knotted end between your thumb and index finger. Put an object (I like to throw marshmallows) securely in the pouch. Take aim and make sure that it’s safe to throw. Swing the sling three times underhand, let go of the knotted end, and enjoy slinging.
2. Overhead Throw
Some people call this the helicopter throw. It's very similar to the underhand throw, but instead you simply swing it above your head. Watch for people around you!
3. Overhand Throw
This is sometimes called the figure 8 throw. Instead of swinging it three times around, you drop it behind your head and then release over the top.

    • It was a miracle, you can be the greatest shot in the world but as a human being you are fallible. Take the greatest shooter in the world and get him drunk the night before and see how well he shoots.

    • I've been using a sinker mold to cast 4 ounce lead balls. I think perhaps my sling isn't the greatest quality, because it tents to lose the projectiles before they're even swung.

    • @@sethmullins8346 It’s probably the shape of your pouch. I use one long piece of leather, thin cut, tapering from the pouch to the tips on both sides, then wet the whole thing and put a projectile in the pouch and let it hang till it’s dry. Shapes the pouch without needing cuts or stitches.

      @armyman29340@armyman29340 Жыл бұрын
    • @@sethmullins8346 so things to consider are the style of pouch and your ammo. For larger ammo ive found the split style is is good and for smaller ones the pouch is better. If you make your own with lead egg/teardrop shape or the duel side conical forget the actual name looks like in about the 150 - 200 grams range. Also getting a steel ball baring and making a monkey fist out of it ...

  • Ancient Roman Legionaires were all trained to use balearic slings in addition to javelin, spear, gladius sword, shields and grappling. Traditionally there are two slings carried in sling cultures: a longer sling (for long range volleys) worn tied about the waist and a short sling (for shorter range accuracy) worn tied about the head.
