    • Afro beat is evolving to have more polished sound and tempo. simple vibey bassline, afro drums, signature afrobeat paino chords and saxophone in the background. you can't get any more afrobeat than that. it has nothing to do with RnB... listen to the blessed track and tell me if you hear any RnB. Infact the old wizkid used more synthetic-electronic sounds to mimic original afrobeat sounds... but his latest MIL album goes back to the afrobeats roots with live instruments vibes and a modern flow. listen to anoti track and tell me you don't hear fela echoing throughout that vibe.

  • I didn't want to comment about this, but here's my take on it: As a foreigner, when I listen to afrobeats, or anything that's outside my culture, I expect to see that country's cultural heritage represented within the song. Black people in general rarely get any representation and if they do, the media tries to draw attention to the negative ones. Black women, especially dark skinned ones, are completely ignored by the media. When Wizkid chooses to pick non-black models in his videos, he contributes to this campaign of constantly throwing black women under the bus, unintentionally. I get what he's trying to do: Appear to a wider audience. But that doesn't mean he has to forget about those who supported him from the beginning of his life: Black women. Like his mother, sister etc. D'Banj made an international hit and stated black women in it. 2Baba got more critical acclaim the day he recorded "African Queen ". You get the point. I am a huge fan of Wiz, but it's annoying. I am white myself and I am sick of seeing white women everywhere lol. They aren't even that cute

    • Pakurumo, ko jo da da. Choose your words more carefully. Africans also want to see and hear their culture, but not every song is for that purpose, how can it be? Do you think Naija media ignore black women? No they do not. So which media are you referring to? Do you expect Naija to control the media in Europe? Yes there is free speech, but no need to abuse it. To say, "he contributes to this campaign of constantly throwing black women under the bus" is outrageous. To say "that doesn't mean he has to forget about those who supported him from the beginning of his life: Black women. Like his mother, sister etc" is unbelievable. The hit by D'Banj was a hit for many to see a white guy dancing well in it. The artist most likely to do what people like yourself are accusing wizkid of is D'Banj. If you want to see/hear african culture, there are 1000s of videos for that purpose, this is not one of them, obviously.

      @soupereagle@soupereagle7 жыл бұрын
    • Okay, I knew somebody had to disagree. This is your opinion and I respect it. But I wasn't talking about the Nigerian media, I was talking about the media in general. Examples of the media trying to present black women as stereotypes are everywhere. Black women are still fighting for a proper representation and you know it. That's why it bugs me when I see non-black models in a song like this. And yeah, I was a bit harsh when I wrote the " mother" part. But my point was this: I see many entertainers who, immediately after they achieved fame and success internationally, pretend that black women don't even exist anymore (ie. Kanye). I don't want Ayo to become one of them and I know that he won't. Maybe D'Banj wasn't the proper example and I agree, but what I was trying to highlight is the fact that an African artist can have African women in his videos and still be successful aboard. Peace! ✌

  • Must we (black women ) have to bring other races down to feel beautiful? Y'all need to remember that the goal is to unite as women and stop trying to compare ourselves to others. We are beautiful in all shapes, colours and heights. Meanwhile thanks to wizkid for this life saving beat❤❤

    @relindisayuk@relindisayuk7 жыл бұрын
    • I think your forgetting that we are not comparing ourselves to other women. Our MEN are comparing us to other women.

      @AnyNameIsFine@AnyNameIsFine7 жыл бұрын
    • +Angolana i partly agree with you cause we women are allowing our men to "objectify" us. If you roam around social media, there is a great war among women. It might even surprise you that this competition is mostly between women of colour. We even have a trend for it. The #teamlightskin and the #teamdarkskin madness. If you read sense into my above coment you would realise that I was simply saying that we as women shouldn't allow men to define us. Growing up as lil girls we are taught to compete. I need to be prettier, taller, smarter, my hair needs to be straighter, curlier or whatever it is. I need to get a better looking guy and so on. Don't you think we need to unite as one and start operating like the men? If you don't I do. like I mean men don't have time to come on a mere video and start complaining how the guys there are dark skin or light skin. We can help lift other races of women why still moving up and on in whatsoever direction we choose to. If you look closely in what's happening in our society you will see that the men colaborate better than we do because they operate from a place of wanting dollars. They talk about contract. They talk about business. I think we need to get to that same mindset instead of teaming like skin and dark skin. I just have this thing in general about lifting other women up regardless of the colour of their eyes, how curly or how straight their hair are, what colour of their skin is or how big or tin their noses are. It's just reciprocate when we lift women in genaral up. It's just not about you, me, it's about women in general. It will be pleasing to have your view on what I just said..... no knowledge is a waste.☺

    • +BONGO CHANEL just this question. ..... What if you stop telling women what they need to look like to be accepted in our society?

      @relindisayuk@relindisayuk7 жыл бұрын
    • BONGO CHANNEL Bongo, do you know how many black women are natural nowadays? A lot, Do the brothers notice? I doubt it, because they usually think being natural is wearing an Afro hairstyle The ones who are still wearing those wigs and stuff, are the ones our men are unfortunately still effecting with their own self-hate. (I got a lighter women in my video, i made it ohhhh!) Black men are the reason we think we need to be lighter and have straight hair. The same reason some dark skin black men think that if they had lighter skin they would get more girls. I really think we need "our" mens help in this one has stupid has it sounds.

      @AnyNameIsFine@AnyNameIsFine7 жыл бұрын
    • I have to completely disagree my dear sister men do not objectify woman.Woman objectify woman the problem is woman think that they know what man want and that thing is specific to all man, Some men like dark woman some like light woman just like woman,Some woman prefer dark men some like light skin men. Woman need to stop putting everything on men and take responsibility of their actions.You do not see dark skin men going around screaming all these light skin men are finishing our woman. Woman like putting other woman down and that is just a fact it has nothing to do with men objectifying anyone. As far as comparisons go woman compare men too it is what humans do simple as that stop making it seem like its only men who compare woman. I also do not think any men has ever told a woman how to look in Oder to be accepted in society its the crap you guys read in these magazines that play into your heads.
