Hi fellow dog lover!🐶 My dog Billie had so many behavior problems… she was jumping, peeing inappropriately, overly aggressive, pulling on the leash… she was just crazy…🤪 Then I found this one solution that stopped all the problems!🙌 The sad fact was…The training I first tried with my dog was a complete fai...lure.😔 I went through the average cookie-cutter training programs. These programs used outdated and ‘mean’ dominance techniques. It turns out those programs had no qualifications and were developed by complete phonies.😱 So this is what I did to stop my dog’s behavior problems... In a few simple words… I discovered my dog’s hidden intelligence!🧠
Let me explain… In my years as a dog owner…this is the one big lesson I have learned. More intelligent dogs are better behaved.👍 A more intelligent dog takes commands easier…and understands what you need from them. What I found out was… No matter how clever I thought my dog was. I could still unlock my dog’s hidden intelligence quickly and easily!😄 Don’t waste a second longer putting up with your dog's behavior problem! I’ll explain everything you need to know in the link!😁

12 Things Only Sheltie Dog Owners Understand
The Shetland Sheepdog, also known as the Sheltie, was developed from small working dogs on the Shetland Islands off the coast of Scotland. Farmers used them to herd sheep and guard the home.
These dogs have been exported to Great Britain since the early 20th century, where they were used as show dogs in obedience competitions. Shelties Dog Breeds are naturally small in size and have a thick double coat that is long and luxurious.
The dogs are born either black, brown, or white and are not recognized as a breed of their own until the 20th century.
Keep watching so you discover the top 12 things only Sheltie owners know about their dogs.

    • AKC lists them as 15 to 25 pounds, not 13 to 18. I have never heard of AKC not wanting smaller dogs registered, they are registered as pups long before you know their adult. I have never heard of excessive bathing for Shelties as the hard out coat traps dirt so it can be brushed out.

  • There is so much I can say about Shelties, but one neat fact is just how well they bond with autistic children. They are so loyal & loving to their humans. I have two right now, sisters from the same litter, which I sometimes refer to as my Shetland "Shadow" dogs. When outdoors working in the woods, I periodically do a head count just to keep my eye on them. I almost immediately see one of them, then wonder where the second one is at. It usually turns out that she is standing right behind me, inches away, when I'm calling her name. They are excellent watchdogs, & definitely will alert you to anything they think you should be aware of. Outdoors, my two will lay down, with one facing away from me, keeping watch over that general area, while the second faces the complete opposite direction & likewise keeps an eye on the opposite sector. They are very vocal by nature, but if you start when they are young, they can be taught not to bark nearly as much. For treats, I give them baby carrots. For their coats, I buy Alaskan salmon fish oil, in capsules, from Costco. When I fill their food bowl, I take two of the capsules, poke a hole in the end with a push pin, & spritz the oil over the top of their food. Since their mouths can be a bit on the smaller side, I've found they really enjoy tennis balls that are designed for kids learning to play tennis. They are the same diameter as a regular tennis ball, but they are much softer & easier for them to bite down on. These are easy to identify since they have both the orange & the yellow color on the same ball. I usually pick them up at Walmart. The Chinese-made dog tennis balls are hard as rocks. I never give my dogs any Chinese manufactured dog toys or treats, out of concern of what toxic substances they just might contain. An excellent dog shampoo I found is called Crisp Coat. It is available from show dog solutions dot com, which specializes in Sheltie grooming & show accessories.

    • I'm looking into getting a Sheltie for an emotional support dog, but the problem is that excessive barking (such as with my MIL's King Charles Spaniel) can cause auditory sensory overload for me. Because of this she mentioned that a Sheltie may not be the best idea for me. But knowing they can be trained to reduce barking helps.

    • 17 is unusually old for a Sheltie and these are extremely adoptable dogs. There is very likely a close by Sheltie Rescue. You might want to get some advice from them and, perhaps, if you can, give them a small donation to help them with their work. This is what I did at 72, I also have been arranging play dates with a neighbors Jack Russell about the same age to help with my reduced activity although I have found my activity level increasing which is not a bad thing. You could have quite a few years ahead, do you really want to spend them without the company of one of these wonderful dogs?

  • My girl Fleur, meaning flower, was my shadow. The runt of the litter and grew to 12”. She was the love of my life. I was surprised that she disliked the feel of a tennis ball in her mouth. She had a little rubber mouse which was acceptable to her. Never did she chew it’s tail off. In fact, only once in her life did she do anything I wished her not to do. She dug a. Tiny hole in the lawn when about 6 months old. I filled the hole in using her little paw and said ..no and tapped her nose with my finger. That was it, no more holes. She learnt to shake hands in one day and had the most beautiful manners. She could speak by choice. My friend called Olive came to the door one day and Fleur clearly said .. hello Olive. She loved rolling her rrrrrrs and infact sounded very Scottish. I used to mix weak solution of Flex hair conditioner in a jug and finish the wash with this. Her coat never tangled and she did not seem to loose much hair. She loved Tuna from the cats bowl so tuna she was given occasionally. The breeder saw her two yrs later and could not believe how beautiful she was with an award winning coat. I miss her.

  • I love my shelties. By accident, I have 3 now (we never wanted so many but relatives died, and you don't abandon a dog, no way). All are so different in mentality, mischievous cunning little brats but I love them, with all their manipulations and tricks. We had a sheltie before these three, the cleverest loyal girl Wanda. She lived up to 16, all my growing up during school and college was with her by my side. I miss her so much. Shelties are wonderful tricksters. All mine are quite evil, loyal to my family only, distrustful of any strangers, dogs or humans. They mirror my own secluded grumpy personality perfectly, and they're my best friends.

  • They are not lousy pets. First time I ever heard that said. They bark but not as much as you make out. Unless aomeone comes to thw door but that will stop soon after. Also they are very good around kids. They don't mind their paws touched unless they're getting nails clipped but that's true for most dogs. As far as shedding they're less of a problem if they're groomed regularly. Mine get groomed professionally every 4 to 6 weeks and I rarely brush them in between except if they get stickers. They have quirks like some of mine don't like when you sneeze or vacuum or the very worse thing is fireworks but this is true for many breeds. I was a bit put off by calling them a lousy pet because they are such a joy. Oh I'm pretty sure that even though they are their own breed they were bred down from the rough collie. Also spaniel
