  • After watching the full match, this is not a split decision fight. In all 8 rounds Jake was on the back foot. Jake got a few good shots in, but Tommy always pushed back more aggressively. This fight was Unanimous Decision in favour of Tommy Fury.

    • Jake wasnt on the back foot he was centre of ring most of fight lol? Tommy was fighting off the back foot and did it excellently i dont think jake has the footwork to fight anywhere but the centre

    • @@theultimate1019 lol, Fair enough. However by back foot I was referring more to the fact that Jake wasn't the aggressor and spent a large portion of the match fighting out of a difficult position rather than putting tommy in dangerous position and controlling the fight. Tommy was never put Jake in a dangerous positions and he was able to keep Jake at bay quite comfortably. Since Tommy was able to control the large majority of the fight, this is why its Unanimous. I am not saying that Jake didn't do well as he is going up against a pro, but keep in mind Tommy is only ranked #39 in the WBC cruiserweight class, if Jake came up against a rank #10 it most likely wouldn't have even made it out of the first round.

    • @Sean ;] He landed a couple big shots, but that still isn't enough to say that the match was close, because when watching Jake throughout the fight, he was never going to win. He was far more interested in trying to land powerful single shots which still wasn't enough to take tommy down.

      @bigmathias8069@bigmathias8069 Жыл бұрын
    • @Sean ;] well only in the last round tommy went down and that was more tommy tripping over his own feet than any thing else, but that is up for debate. the rounds that jake did when was close. I would argue that Jake won the 3rd and 6th round. this still doesn't make it close though, but thats more in my opinion, but clearly the one judge voted in his favour. He clearly saw something that I didn't. Just thought I would add that it seems like I am coming across as a bit of a Jake hater, but I have nothing against him🤣. I am also definitely not a Tommy fan either.

But they're closer to the ring. And on looking at a close up of the knockdown it looked like a slip, but what if Tommy's heal lost all grip not because of off balance stance but because the head got a jolt that made Tommy's heal lose sense and spasm. At his age to be hounded online by an army of millions of Paul fans calling him a coward and a nobody for over 2 years to come and prove his worth, his raw emotion really shows a mental weight lifted that night. This is a good sign that the words said online can really affect a man to his core. he's faced a lot of pressure in his life and I'm proud that he got in there an showed his worth. Tommy had the weight of the world on his shoulders and managed to stay compose and stick to his game plan. Very impressive by him. He may not be the best boxer in the world but greater more talented boxers than him wouldve and - have - cracked under that amount of pressure. The best part of this is that based on interviews Jake and his team did around that time they were banking on Tommy cracking under the pressure - 9:30 was Tommy’s way of letting them know their plan had failed.
