Matthew McConaughey is an Academy Award-winning actor you know from films like ‘Magic Mike,’ ‘Dallas Buyers Club,’ ‘Interstellar,’ ‘Dazed and Confused,’ ‘The Wedding Planner,’ ‘How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days,’ and countless others. He is also a producer, a college professor, and an author. His latest project is a memoir titled ‘Greenlights,’ available now. How will this Texas Longhorn play defense against the spicy peppers in this hot sauce lineup? Find out how this highwayman fares against the wings of death while answering questions about his writing process, what makes romantic comedies work, how helpful New Yorkers really are, losing a lawsuit against a skin cream company while in high school, and Hank the Cowdog. Will this spiritual life philosopher known for his many McConaughey-isms get through the gauntlet of spice? Alright, alright, alright!

    • @@haghendowdy4750 That would make perfect sense, but the fact is Sean didn't spend a lifetime eating spicy foods. In fact, he's stated in interviews that he wasn't even particularly fond of spicy foods before Hot Ones started. So he's relatively new to it all, which makes it all the more amazing!

    • @@jakemitchell1671 but hot ones has been going on for at least 4 years- that's a pretty sizeable amount of time to get used to something- no hate to Sean just saying the body will adapt incredibly well when given a long enough exposure to a stimuli

    • @@haghendowdy4750 Fair point, and I agree that we adjust quickly with repeated exposure, BUT....I still contend what he does is incredibly special, and very, very few people could pull it off. Not only does he deal with the same "stimuli" as his guests, but he NEVER loses his composure, while continuing to ask compelling questions. While I see your basic point, I think you're WAY too eager to sweep his contribution under the rug and imply that it's no big deal. I believe it's extraordinary. We may have to respectfully agree to disagree on this one :))

  • Sean's greatest asset is his ability to adapt. In the first episodes, he played thr cocky card, he didn't ask great questions, and it didn't work so well. He then dropped the cockiness for the "brother next door" persona and dove deep into his research and asked better questions, and he tightened up his follow up questions to bring more out of the guest. Sean is now up there with the upper echelon interviewers like Graham Norton, Charlie Rose, etc. Sean deserves the best.

Sean asks in such a way they answer much deeper than most people would answer in a different environment, the wings help with that

Everyone puts up fronts for various reasons, basically it's a celebrity's main job to maintain a public persona that shows themselves in a favorable light. Never know who they really are unless you know them personally, aside from that you can only base your opinion of them on what you see, hear and read. For me, I have enjoyed a lot of the roles he has done. Can't say much for him as a person, seems alright enough from this and other interviews I've seen. • Matthew McConaughey and Jeff Goldblum should sit down and have an interview. Those two men are the most unbothered, unproblematic, dude-iest of dudes in the world

  • These interviews need to go down in history as some of the best. Each time the star being interviewed relaxes and enjoys their time with Sean, the questions are unique, the answers are real and you see a side of a star as a person, not as a pedestal item. I hope these continue for a long time to come.

  • Matthew McConaughey seems like a man who truly put in the work to find the formula to a good life.. not taking it too seriously, learn from it, be around good people, give back, and work hard! Seems like a really good guy and I’d be honored to meet him one day! Can’t wait to read his book!

  • Matthew's Energy is something transcending you can't fake; he's genuine and continues to stay grounded; in that "roaming the world, chill" kinda guy, while still continuing to be open and sharing not only of himself, but others and just lettin' it ride.

  • My favorite thing about him is he fell into acting, but when he said, "you'd be a lot cooler if you did" in Dazed, I was forever hooked and in love with this dude. I've always been like a moth to a bulb when his name appears on a marquee. He's also a guru. Forever fan. Buying your book right now!!! Stay cool and breezy, brother.

  • Awesome Hot Ones! I’ve been watching you guys for awhile now and I have to say this is one of my favourites. So nice to see people share cool stories and have some fun and enjoy rule 62. Thank you for continuing on through these times and finding the “honey pots” as Matthew says. Nice to learn about his book coming out. I’ll definitely save and share this gold. Much love, and I’m looking forward to more.
