  • The 50 and 55 series tractors were the best ever made. 18 000 hours on our 4650 and it still has amazing compression with one crank. Keep them well maintained and it’s a lifetime machine

  • That over fuel start up and that cloud of smoke means that tractor is fit and healthy and capable of a lot more work. Love that engine tone. They will just keep on pulling.

At the rear it says "Vorsicht" (Attention) for example - The german words describing the functions of that driver's seat made me think someone put a german seat in there for comfort or something, but the more I look closely the more I'm getting confused. It is some kind of re-import?

    • Actually 4755 was made from 1989-1991. 1992 saw the introduction of the 60 series tractors.

  • We did a tour of the John Deere factory in Iowa back in 1995. They had models like that with front fenders and extra lights that were being produced to go over to Germany for the road crews over there to use on building roads and streets.

  • Fuel filer thing is the starter fluid. That 4755 came from overseas. It has the quick hitch, and the german writing is a give away.

  • if you use brake clean you have to use a lot right off the bat. iv done many revivals and brake clean works for sure! the other thing is when they come out to replace that tire the tire guy is going to use his crane to replace that drive tire and that pole barn is in the way. awesome video as usual boys

  • That owner must have had some really lousy CREDIT that he couldn't just put a new tire on a card and then paid it off as he earned from his farm. To let the Tractor sit all those years is inexcusable.

  • That was a one that was shipped overseas and came back or it was supposed to go overseas. You can tell by auxiliary light above the weight bracket and the air on the tractor. That’s why there is foreign writing on the seat base.

  • The reason you couldnt get it to move at first was the “engagement override” safety feature that prevents you from starting the engine in gear. Going back to park allowed you to finally move it. Yall be sure to make sure start stuff in park! Be safe

  • The trick to jumping a dead battery is attach positive to positive. Negative to a ground spot on the engine. This way the dead battery has less effect on the jump battery with drawing current away from starting. As a proud member of the 3701 BMT Squadron keep up the good work guys.

  • Also guys that tractor has two batteries. I believe it’s two twelve volt. The other one is on the other side under the step by the lower cab widow. Older ones use two six volt in series to make a twelve system. By this model they put two twelve in series so it’s still a twelve system. They basically did this to aid starting in colder regions

  • If the man just wants to get the tractor back to the farm you can un bolt the tire nock the tire of the rim then get a very large patch and put on the in side of the tire where the slice is then get a tube and put in the tire and put every thing back together and air up the tire.

  • Great video, I ran a 4955 and there is two batteries on that model. You’ll find it at the opposite side of the tractor under the step. If this helps.

    • in basically all of europe they never changed from 55 series to 60. they were still called 55. no idea why. pretty dumb if you ask me.

    • @@Hermiwalle The reason it wasn’t a 60 series in Europe was to avoid the expensive testing in Europe to get a new product introduced it was easier to leave it as a 55 series. We never got 55 series in the 50 to120 hp in Europe just straight to 6000 series

  • I'm envious! I have a 4230 which is half the size of this beast. The things a new farmer like myself could do with a machine that impressive :) Great job getting it going, JD made some amazing equipment from the 1970s through the 90s. I won't bother getting anything new with those iron beasts still around.

  • That 7.6 litre Waterloo engine always sounded wonderful I had a 4240s with the same engine but smaller intercooler. It always made short of a Kverneland 6 furrow reversible plough. We have a JD 7320 R on the farm now which has the 9 litre engine and double the horsepower but I prefer the sound of the smaller engine in the 40 series!

  • Brake cleaner works if you hold a lighter in front of it.. If you dont mind a little mess 3M spray trim adhesive works great. Its like spraying sticky spiderwed.
