I do trimmer first then straight edge razor for my own beard. Recently started using the straight edge and it helps with a clean lineup. Every barber I go to does the same thing too, without me even asking.

Razor is always better but if doing by yourself trimmer is the better option. Easier to use with less practice and no chance of nicking yourself

Razor cuts clean and better a trimmer can't give that close finish ever.

If you have good full beard hair, as in your hairs follicles are close together and not too much space in between, the trimmers simpler. If your hairs are spaced further apart to where you see skin in between as it slowly grows, a straight edge barber razor will be your best friend.

Trimmers 1st but before 2005 I would've chose razors. Now a days it's lower maintenance using trimmers, less is best if u have a full connecting beard without gaps. Razors some times can leave dark scars almost as bad as a over zero gapped trimmers if ur not extra careful with razors.

Uhhh, if you’re like me and want a “rough-around-the-edges” trim up, I personally just use the clippers. If you want a clean ass lineup, then the razor for sure.

I find that most trimmers don't give you that nice line up on your beard. The trimmers are easier to use I must say.
