  • Considering how Plastic Beach was supposed to be a 3 album arc involving the apocalypse... I can imagine that Plastic Beach 3 would've been the end of Gorillaz, and that the final 4 songs would've been from the prespective of the 4 band members as they face the end of the world. This? This would've been 2-D's song. His final message, not to the world, or even his own band, but to himself. A final message as he dies all alone in the ocean. A life ruined by a megalomaniacal bassist, filled with found families, friendship, music, love, heartbreak, fear, despair, and ultimately loneliness comes to an end within the nowhere zone of Point Nemo. Rachel and David Pot would never find out what happened to their beloved son, would never find his message, and would ultimately die along with the rest of Humanity, choking on plastic, as they wait for their Stuart to return. 2-D dies all alone in Point Nemo, not even on Plastic Beach, but somewhere out there in the sea. He finally perishes, and this song is his final diary entry.
