MONGOLIA #3 - WHO IS MAZALAI? SECRETS OF THE GOBI SPHINX. SINGING DUNES AND A GLACIER IN THE DESERT

We continue to move south through the Gobi Desert through the Bayankhongor and Umnugov regions (South Gobi region).
Shinezhinst village became the last at the entrance to the Zaaltai Gobi. Here we visited the local history museum and saw ancient petroglyphs in the mountains nearby.
On the way to the Herman-Tsav Canyon and in its vicinity, there was no civilization at all for several days. Despite the extreme heat, we managed to find the Gobi sphinx in the heart of the Gobi Desert.
In the Southern Gobi, in the village of Gurvantes, almost on the border with China, we were lucky enough to get to Naadam - a traditional Mongolian holiday that is celebrated throughout the country in the middle of summer.
The "singing sands" of Hongoryn-Els and the Elyn-Am cleft became the last points before the start of the "civilizational stage" of our expedition on the road to Ulaanbaatar.
