I also liked this pilot. My only complaint is that the Native American girl sounded like she recorded her voice at home on inadequate equipment, and then sent the compressed audio file to them over dropbox.
@Luce Van Gorden It sounded fine to me, and her voice fits her character, maybe her microphone wasn't so good, but I really didn't notice and my earbuds have a higher and lower frequency response than most others and everything sounds like a live version quality with them, so I really don't understand about her voice being an issue.
Her voice was very whispery, but on the other hand, I do feel like if she gets character growth later on, the distressed situations she might be put in will be a reason for her to break through that voice, and because it was so lax to begin with, it’ll be super cathartic

The inflection on BW's voice is good and suits the sass of the character but yeah it's just too low volume and feels too "far away". I absolutely loved the show too, hope a streaming service picks it up or they get funding to put it straight to YT.
I've been trying to put my finger on what it was about her voice that felt "off" since the pilot first aired and I think you hit the nail on the head. The relaxed tone of her voice really fits her character, but it's just that little bit too quiet when compared to everyone else that she didn't gel as well during conversations and sometimes her voice was drowned out by the music. That's an easy fix though that can be sorted with audio mixing or just a very slight tweak on the voice actors part volume-wise while keeping the inflections the same.
Absolutely! I feel like she needed stronger direction. There is a way to have you voice monotone and quiet without losing the energy and I feel like her level just wasn’t with the rest of the cast
Character wise. The other characters could address once in awhile, maybe Rawhide teases her about it. As 'Seinfeld' did with whisperer lady. I like the sass, but having her lose that cool attitude once in a while for character dynamics and growth. Not too over the top. Subtle as a long stare or glare, and loud as one of those closed mouth screams. In a crazy show she is too cool, it upsets the balance of pace and flow.

To me the problem felt like an engineering one. It seemed like the mic wasn't set up properly or something.
Yee-Haw this is such a roundy awesome pilot and the voice and characters too. 5 years in the making and i hope this gets more episodes and like Hazbin gets picked up for a series!

The Pilot itself is charming, even I can't help that the animation and especially the character designs kind of remind me of the early Cartoon Network shows and to a degree Nickelodeon shows (mainly SpongeBob and Ren & Stimpy) that aired during the 1990's and early 2000's. On top of that, the voices of Raw Hide & Snag are voiced by the actors who voiced Buttercup and Jack Spicer (Xiaolin Showdown) respectively.
Yeah I LOVED the ren and stimpy/spongebob style expressions, it's nice to see very expressive animation, lots of it is pretty stiff these days
Between this and Hazbin/Helluva, I find myself wondering how in the sam hill random internet creators are able to get such high profile voice actors.

Voice actors don't have much mainstream Fame. As prolific as some of them are, most people don't know who they are, so they don't have the clout that would allow them to charge High rates.
@@bored_person it still amazes me that someone like Steve Blum who has been in basically everything for the last 20 years is far less known then someone like Mike Meyers who hasn't been in anything in years. I guess that's the power of being seen rather than being the person behind the voice.

Fun Fact: "Jack Spicer" (aka Danny Cooksly) has been in tv and movies for years... he was John Connors friend in Termanator 2, (for the older kids), Salute your Shorts, Tiny Toon Adventures...and for the REALLY old kids he was in the last three seasons of Different Strokes. Hes one of those actors/VA I get excited to hear from as us gingers get so little representation in Hollywood.

This show felt super nostalgic almost to the point of deja vu. I felt like I remembered some of the characters, the mayor and cactus guy in particular, even though it was my first time seeing it. Also that "yo daddy is dead tho" line killed me
I actually really like her whisper voice it kinda fits her more clinical personality.
For me the main problem was that it was sometimes difficult to hear her above the background ambiant sounds/music.

I do too, the mocking whisper really suits her Sundre character, honestly if anything I personally find E.G. Daily's Tommy Pickles voice more unfitting for her character.

Seeing Zeurel was one of the animators really took me back to some of my early youtube memories. With BW's voice, I dont so much think it was the performance as much as the recording. It sounded like they were in a closet rather than a booth with the proper echo and sound dampeners. Its got this slight hiss and echo to it, I'm gonna chalk that up to a plague situation and not having an ideal home recording set up and give them the benefit of the doubt

@@pepperedash4424 I feel like Cartoon Network is more forgiving than Nick. I mean most CN shows lasted a lot longer than any animated Nick shows during the last decade. Even OK KO had three seasons under it's belt and had enough time to make a satisfying ending. Compare that to Nick that cancelled most shows by their first season. This also included the factor of the two channels over airing their shows TTG and Spongebob. While CN had mediocre to terrible reboots, a lot of their original shows are great like Mal Mao, Craig of the Creek, and Victor & Valentino. Also, HBO Max could get this show if CN rejected it.

I'm at the beginning of creating a comic that I want to turn into an animated show, and seeing these types of animated pilots really makes me have hope that I'll one day be able to make my characters come to life. I do recommend Long Gone Gulch for those who haven't seen it yet.

Long Gone Gulch is one of the best animated pilots I have ever watched! Hopefully this will get pitched to either a TV channel like Cartoon Network or a streaming service like HBO Max.😁

Hey saber! If you like westerns like this one, i suggest checking out CliffSide. Cliffside is a fun an awesome pilot produced by liam Vickers who is known for making great stories and music. Currently cliffside has only one episode that is animated and produced by liam, a one person crew so it might not be as good as lone gone glutch, however it is still highly recommended to check out and review :)

I'm in love with this pilot. I don't think many modern shows lean on wild west themes or rubber hose style of animation, so I'm glad that this pilot had them included, feels refreshing to be honest. Also, Rawhide is a complete charm. P.S. Sabre you were close, the Mayor is a jackalope.

I thought Snag was annoying at the beginning but after his speech halfway through the episode that changed. After that he was a really nice character.😃👍
Long Gone Gulch has been a long time coming. It was started sometime in 2014-2015, but I never found the pilot. I thought it was just a lost series. Then I got the pilot recommended on KZhead last week.
As far as that native american character's voice goes, I had issues with it too. It just felt like there were complications on a technical issue with her voice. It just sounded far away and really quite compared to the rest of the characters. I don't know if it was on purpose or if there was some kind of technical glitch or bad recording setup, but it really felt out of place.
They even have the characters bleed in the animation. That automatically makes me become interested in the show, plus with everything else. I hope this show can help fill the massive void in my soul after Gravity Falls.
Raw Hide is a cool character and E.G Daley is a fun voice for her and i love the og PPG and Rugrats, and the while Western theme is so good i love it and i wish for more to come soon.
the westren cartoon reminds me of the "cliffside" pilot that was put on youtube a few years ago. really enjoyed that one and kind of sad it never picked up.
If you're still subscribed you'd know that It may pick up eventually and that He's doing a new series in the meantime. Just as Animatics though

This pilot was so good! I loved all the characters and all the dynamics just felt perfect. Plus the music was amazing! BW was my favorite character, she has this quiet, confident, sneaky, magical vibe going on that really gave her good presence I felt. I REALLY hope someone picks up this show!

This show is great! Thank you Saber for reccomending it in the 2021 Animation video. I really hope it gets picked up as a series like Vivziepop's stuff. The animation is great, the jokes are funny, and I can see the story going in interesting places in the future.

A show that I recommend is called inanimate insanity. It’s an internet show and it’s really fun and enjoyable. The first season isn’t that great but season 2 is a big step up, especially in the later episodes. It’s really fun and underrated and it needs more attention!!

This was in my recommendations after watching Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel. The algorithm seems to actually work sometimes providing stuff I would like. I like this show. The slapstick is fun, we see the motivations of the characters, it did its job as a pilot. Hopefully the series itself continues to impress.
The fact that Helluva started getting episodes gives me more hope for independent animation

@@akapple2698 Tell that to Batman the Animated series, the show had barely enough blood to fill a shot glass through its entire run and the network censors still gave them a ton of shit for even a few drops of it being visible in sparse places throughout its existance.
I also agree about the voice acting on the native american character, her whispery voice felt so off compared to the other character who have a lot of energy in their performance.
NGL when I saw this it was so unique and it was the most amazing animation that I’ve ever seen,hopefully there’s more to this in the future
