It’s like making a magic potion at school during lunch by mixing random shit together and making someone eat it. This recipe is like a challenge to anyone brave enough to dare try

They probably mistyped or misremembered something - I mean, there’s no way that they made that and thought it was good unless they were just trying to be funny.
I can explain the vinegar and the idea behind less flour in this cupcake (even though it failed.) basically vinegar is usually added to recipes when they call for milk instead of buttermilk, acid helps activate your leavener. Less flour is always used in recipes that call for coco powder, coco powder is extremely similar to flour in terms of interacting with other ingredients, and the way it thickens batter when added to something. That’s why we usually subtract flour and replace it with coco powder but chances are, between the liquid and the sugar, there wasn’t enough coco powder and flour to even them out. Edit: Just some additional piece of knowledge since I mentioned it but didn’t explain it, sugar acts similar to a liquid when mixed with an actual liquid. If you wanna test you can mix 2 tablespoons of flour and 1 tablespoon of water in a bowl, and do the same in another bowl but add a tablespoon of sugar before adding your water! You can see a major difference between your doughs. Don’t add the sugar after you’ve mixed your water and flour together though, the gluten in your flour will only tighten as you mix, leaving a clumpy mess. It’s why you shouldn’t over-mix certain doughs or batters!

my favorite chocolate cake recipe has vinegar in it, it's also completely vegan! it's probably more similar to the one you made with extra flour, but it's actually a recipe from the great depression. the vinegar is there as the acid to activate the baking soda

Honestly that looks a lot like what "lava muffins" are supposed to be like, meaning that you have a chocolate-heavy batter with very little flour and it ends up runny and hot in the middle. Tastes delicious, but as a "real cupcake" aka cold and baked through, I can't imagine it holding up

Maybe it was supposed to be a cup of flour and half a cup of sugar? Also the vinegar isn't necessarily uncommon when baking cakes. Quite a lot of recipes ask for buttermilk or "soured milk" and soured milk is a combination of milk and either lemon juice or vinegar. Which makes a difference when you're baking.

VINEGAR?! IN CUPACAKES-
The only thing I would use vinegar for in cakes is if I didn't have buttermilk and had to make mock buttermilk by mixing a touch of vinegar into milk. People put lemon juice in cakes as a sort of acidic cut to the sugary flavor, but vinegar....Idk. Did they just think because there's baking soda they have to add vinegar because they learned to mix them in science class? Lol.
@@-desertpackrat there are cakes which call for vinegar in order to activate the baking soda. Baking soda won’t activate without any acid. It’s not dumb to think so. (Prob most common cake made with baking soda as the leavening agent would be Red Velvet). Although most baked goods call for baking powder nowadays.

Its almost the same as my mom's cupcakes she baked for us for years. A little different from the measurements (no vinegar 😆) but has the same color and consistency. Loved the slight crispy edge, fudgy but soft and cakey center like a brownie meets a cupcake and yes in some batches it was hard to get it out fron the wraper but she kinda perfected the recipe over the years where the wraper would not stick now.
