This tiktok war isn't between gen z and millennials. It's between two groups of people who have nothing better to do 😭😂
I don’t get it. Millennials were wearing baggy jeans since the mid 90s. Skinny jeans are only the last ten years. It’s not a Gen Z thing. Millennial gangsters with their pants around their knees. It’s one thing for a generation to wear clothes of several generations prior and call it their own. But to wear the same clothes the generation above you wore at the same age, and chastise them for no longer wearing such? Sad. Very unoriginal. Millennials will just go back to wearing what they did in high school. Which is sad too. Everyone lame.
@@Y2Kr4SHM4N Only the oldest Millenials willingly wore baggy jeans (or those within the hip hop trend, as you mentioned). Most of us wore non-skinny jeans as little kids, but in our preteens/adolescence/young adulthood (over the last 15 years), we chose skinny jeans. I'm not opposed to either style. Personally, I find baggy jeans unflattering, but no one should be shamed for what they like to wear.
@@Hannnahh88 Millennial here. Millennials were wearing baggy jeans until 2010. Skinny jeans didn’t even start to become a mainstream trend until long after that. More like 2013. Only millennial cuspers born in the mid 90s wouldn’t have worn baggy jeans. Baggy jeans were the fashion for twenty whopping years. 1990-2010.
@@Y2Kr4SHM4N maybe depends on your location, in my country everyone wore skinny jeans/pants and gen x and most millenials still do baggy pants were never "in style" here.
@@salsadip7453 Australia, Britain, USA. Skinny jeans were an 80s thing and didn’t even resurface as mainstream until after 2010.
Some people need to remember that being in a generation isn't a personality trait
it is, when you have nothing else in your life to be concerned with
yes omg I’m so tired of “gEn z tHiNgZ” it’s so cringe I’m embarrassed to be a part of this generation
For real
Literally. Being berated for being gen-z by millennials is so annoying. Like I get it, I was born later than you. Move on.
Skinny jeans are clearly the most flattering. If u wanna wear ugly jeans....do u.
As a millennial, when I'm wearing my "trendy" mom jeans, I'm starting to feel more and more just like a mom who is wearing jeans.
Yeah...I think the jeans only look cool on a non mom body. Speakimg as a 38 year old mom myself
you guys are beautifull, and most people admire when someone haves a good fashion sense ,what i mean is,you guys look cool, just my opinion as a teen
dont make those stupid trends make u feel that way, (i'm a gen z just to be clear born in '05) i bet that i won't stop wearing my fav type of jeans or pants, every single person like wut they like, every1 has different tastes and preferences in jeans/pants, wear wtv u want
Probably because we grew up being told mom jeans were bad so lol just perspective, really.
Bahahahhaaa 😂
The way high rise skinny jeans complimented curves was insane. Mom jeans and stuff make my legs feel a whole 2 sizes bigger 🥲 puts me off from feeling comfortable hahahah
Saame. Anything but skinny jeans makes my legs look like 2 logs. And that's not a good look
yeah it's very different for a lot of people, like for me wearing skinny jeans makes my legs look like two uncooked spaghetti noodles
@@jane-kk8ov haha you probably have long thin legs. My legs are quite short and curvy so anything with more material looks afwul. People need to learn how to respect others and their fashion choices haha
Exactly. As someone with small hips but muscular thighs, a round butt and non-existing calves, I can't imagine wearing any other type of jeans without looking much larger than I actually am. I also love how long my legs look in skinny jeans (I'm 5'9/1,75m)
TBH skinny jeans look way sexier than baggy jeans.
I’m a bit concerned about the next generation being called Generation Alpha. Anyone who goes around calling themselves an alpha is NOT good lol

I've walked past groups of teenagers while wearing skinny jeans and I've never heard a single comment or even a chuckle. They probably just figure that we're older and mind their own business for the most part.
Only about 5% of what's going on in the world is online, those teens probably haven't heard skinnies are out of style and some are still wearing it.
@@daisiesandpandas1218Skinny jeans are still in style and have always been for the past 10 years! The new style just came around the past year-year 1/2
Imo skinny jeans look way sexier on women than those baggy ones.
Because the internet doesn't reflect what happens irl
@@Mrcharles. When will men learn that women don't give a shit about what they think looks good on their bodies?
'People are afraid of getting older, so seeing children recreate the styles of their youth makes them feel older.' Right on. I was a teenager in the late 80s-early 90s, and seeing kids in 90s fashion (long floral skirts! Daisy print! Crushed velvet slip-dresses over tiny t-shirts and trousers!) makes me feel ancient! But it's simultaneously kind of heartwarming. Re skinny jeans, I was well into adulthood when they became popular and I'm totally the wrong shape to wear them. The trend hung around forEVER in Melbourne where I live, and I was so delighted to see them finally go. Well done Gen-Z, I say.
skinny jeans will come back i suppose, trends always do
@@sweetbunnybun well right now, loose baggy jeans are having their moment but it might be a while before skinny is trendy again.
I really wish more people would get onboard with the idea of dressing for your body type/essence instead of certain shapes being "right" or "wrong" or "in" or "out".
absolutely! clothing silhouettes are so personal
yeah i totally vibe with dressing for your essence, but idk how i feel about the whole “dress for your body type” thing still bc it can definitely fall into that trap of dictating what certain people are allowed to wear. like as a curvy afab person i’ve been terrified of horizontal stripes my entire life bc every single “dress for your body type” feature in a fashion magazine is always telling curvy girls & femmes what they can & can’t wear. idk it just feels like these things are always more about limiting what people with larger bodies are allowed to do. & i’ve literally never seen or heard anyone tell a man to dress for his body type. maybe my own body issues make me more sensitive towards this kind of thing, but those body issues are a direct result of the messaging from the fashion industry so.... (as well as society as a whole obvs, the industry is just a reflection of who society values. thin, white & able-bodied of course)
@@rayne333 Yes absolutely! But I think trying to look thinner/taller is still not "dressing for your body" and is the same bullshit as trends coming in and out of style super fast. Like I think it's generally important to know what your body geometry is so you can be intentional about complimenting your lines/shapes or contrasting them. Kibbe is super flawed but that system was my first introduction into the idea that the shape of clothes could make me look more like me instead of trying to find clothes that made me look thinner. Like on someone with short arms/legs proportional to their frame, short sleeves and cropped pants blend in with the body/look more natural, while long and dramatic shapes will draw focus. Either one can be what you want to wear but it can be super useful to know what will make your face the focus vs. what makes the clothes the focus. And that has much more to do with your proportions than your size
But also my strategy to avoid trends is to wear vintage/historically inspired clothes so that I am *always* out of style
@@Icefairydancer 👏👏 Well said. And same. Kibbe was my intro into how to use proportion and ratios in fashion as well but the concept is there in art and architecture. I like the approach of knowing what clothing does what on people's own body types precisely so that we can have greater control over how we want to look vs how society says we should look.
This jeans debate must only exist on tiktok or in the us because skinny jeans are still going strong where I am lmfao
yeah I think it's tiktok because I can't imagine anyone being bullied for wearing skinny jeans in real life
In my country (Chile) most 17-22 yo girls still use skinny jeans, the baggy ones are for the "cool alternative" girls :p
YES JSJDBABA
Same 😅😅😅 like i wear them and lots of people that i know do too amd im gen z
It's still going strong in the U.S. It's strictly a tik tok thing I think
I don't think skinny jeans are ever really gonna go out of style. They're too flattering and have a specific function for fashion. I don't know why these people can't form their own personal styles, rather than clinging to generational ideas and what they perceive to be trendy.
I definitely do feel they are very much not in the fashion loop anymore and are “out of style” but like you said if that’s what you like than wear it. What’s in style in the online world of fashion doesn’t have to be your style. Shoot if your a regular Pinterest user like me I have found so many styles that all would be drippy to me yet they are all different, and some are even not considered “stylish”, but not one style is the right way to dress so do what ever you want.
@@izzydandrea7548 Nah skinny and high waisted jeans not going anywhere. Not sure if you were living during the low rise flare jeans phase but those were some unflattering jeans
I agree. Like you could get away with wearing black skinny jeans at an office but not ripped, baggy jeans
skinny jeans are probably the most unflattering style of pants out there, they're pretty much known for it
@@zlis4536 That's why I've never worn them, never will, and am super happy that wide leg pants are coming back in so I don't have to turn pants shopping into some kind of epic quest.
I hated the baggy jean trend in the 90s. They always looked terrible on me since I'm 5'0 feet and have a tummy. Jean shopping was a nightmare. In 1997, when I was 16 I found a pair of vintage drainpipe jeans from the 50s or 60s. They looked like today's skinny jeans and were a game changer for me. I remember that I really felt "punk" and like a fashion renegade wearing those in '97. When those pants fell apart I tried to look for skinny jeans in the shops but there was literally nothing out there in the late 90s. I was so relieved when the style was revived around 2006. (This video is absolutely correct in pinpointing that as the first year they became a readily available item).
But really you should try baggy jeans again. They're so much cuter nowadays and I love them. Skinny jeans to me are unflattering and super tight. But people wear what they wear. You shouldn't really care about it. It doesn't really matter.
@@maryaetayeb5143 Why you trying to force you style opinions on people? Let people live their lives. I'm going to assume you're not old enough to realise how obnoxious and judgemental you're being.
@@Kereru Excuse me? I'm sorry I offended you but clearly I said you wear what you wear. I just shared my opinion. That's what social media is for. If you wear skinny jeans that's cool if you wear baggy jeans also cool. I just said what I thought about skinny jeans and how they look on me. I mentioned that you shouldn't care about what people think about what you wear if you like it. So I see no issue here.
Once you reach a certain age there is no style or fashion trend. For me it was when I turned 25
@@maryaetayeb5143 baggy jeans only look good on skinny people.
I think the most offensive thing about this is the fact that none of those TikToks were funny. And how are grown adults beefing with literal children? Weird
I mean that’s a thing everywhere on the internet. It’s not new.
The cancelled one was funny to me though 😂
Honey Bea It’s more justified if you’re calling out a shitty little 13 year old calling you a slur on Twitter. But trying to stir the pot with an entire generation that’s largely composed of teenagers? For something as dumb as fashion trends? It’s odd.
I think it's funny when both sides are joking (how it should be as it's not that deep) but when they get truly offended it's pretty weird
It’s bizarre. Literally every generation though that their parents clothes aren’t fashionable and totally out. It’s nothing new.
I don't care about skinny jeans, I'm just terrified of low rise trousers coming back. You can pry high wasted trousers from my cold dead hands
I second that. Low rise made me have plumber crack.
im terrified of low rise jeans in general. if they comeback imma start having a seizure
fr a lot of these new trends are really size exclusive
I mean all those stylish tiktok kids that say they love „low rise jeans“ are literally just wearing mid waist bc its low compared to those super high waist ones
I have problematic stomach, it goes up and down like trampoline, so I don´t wear low or high waisted ones. Low waist is a danger when you try to sit and high waist is either baggy or painful. Midlle waisted are ideal (just under the stomach) and I don´t care who says what, honestly we´re in pandemic and here in Czech republic are not the shops open yet. Sorry for English..
I didn't know we hated skinny jeans 💀 I can't live without them ,yes i love baggy jeans but it took me a while to get used to them, I wear skinny jeans everyday, they're so comfortable and make me feel beautiful. I'm 16 btw
I’m 24 and I wear baggy jeans. And they are amazingly comfortable. The only downside is that they make me look frumpy, so I still wear skinny jeans. *Duality* 😗
Wear what makes you comfortable because looks are one thing but personality is another.
Baggy jeans would be fine if they weren't also high-rise. If you're thick in the stomach, high-rise is a complete nightmare.
@@Mrcharles. The problem is whether you can find what you're comfortable in. These jeans trends tend to be all-or-nothing. I can't find anything high-rise these days to save my life.
I cant imagine wearing baggy pants because I'm too skinny
I'm 43 and I find this hilarious. The only jeans/pants I ever really despised were there pleated fronts on 80's jeans. The problem I find now is the quality of clothes and fast fashion/throw away culture is really worrying.
Born in 87' here and the only fashion rule I would like people of all ages to follow is: Don't be a jerk about someone else's style. Wear what you want. If someone has something to say about it, that's on them..not you.
Also, don't hurt yourself when wearing what you love- like binding is a great alternative to top surgery but please remember to not wear a binder longer than 8 hours. It's not worth it to wear something you can't move or breathe in, cuz you can actually hurt yourself :)
Exactly what I preach to all.
I see a ton of 17/18 year olds wearing skinny jeans honestly. I think it’s just the super trendy kids online, most kids don’t have money to switch out their wardrobe and aren’t that fashion toward.
Yeah almost everyone around me is still wearing skinny jeans

As a goth person, I love and live most of my life in skinny jeans. Black velvet, black ripped ones, hopefully I get hands on some leather ones. But the point is, for me wearing a lot of droopy clothes (like long jackets, shirts, jewelry) I don’t want my jeans to be baggy as well. It feels more cohesive and clean with skinny jeans. Loved the video!
TBH skinny jeans look so sexy compared to baggy jeans. It makes a woman look more feminine.
I'm in the same spot, goth and I like to wear mostly skinny pants and flowy and baggy toos and accessories.I like in these black skinny jeans and my she past away shirt😂
I personally wear skinny jeans cus i have To (I really dont have other options bc my mom wont let me buy New ones) and i get that with skinny jeans you can pair it with more flowy or more baggy clothing but in the other end with more baggy jeans you can wear more tight tops and i think i look a lot better with a tight top and more baggy jeans cus im pretty tall and it makes my legs look a little more vider and that also fits my body type that is a regtagle but you do you I think in some ppl the other version looks a lot better :)
As a middle aged white woman I think the whole jeans war is hilarious and anyone taking it seriously needs to get a life 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 My 70s mom bemoaned the bell bottoms coming back in the 90s and it makes me laugh that they are in again. I love the 90s/Y2K trends! Also just wear what makes you comfortable, it's not that deep. I love your deep dives!!!
I grew up in the 70s like your mom, and even when I was a kid I hated bell bottom pants, and I’ve hated every time they have come back into fashion because I think they are ugly AF. Just like leggings, high waisted “skinny jeans” had their first round of widespread popularity in the early 80s, and it’s all I’ve worn ever since. When they aren’t in fashion, I scour thrift stores for them and will even alter wider legged pants to make them fitted.
I still wear skinny jeans and I’m in Gen Z... honestly I wear all types of jeans just depends on the outfit and vibe I’m going for. This isn’t that deep 💀

THIS.
Yeah it baffles me that people can make blanket statements when how good something looks entirely depends on how you mix & match
I have millennial friends who are on trend, and gen z friends who are wearing skinny jeans. It really doesn't matter, so long as we're kind to one another. I don't like all the gatekeeping between the generations... it's just hateful, and pushes the pattern forward that many make fun of boomers for. It's no better and it's just as hateful. At the end of day, I feel like every body type looks good in different clothes, and every person feels good in different clothes. There's no shame in following or not following trends. You do you. That's the point of fashion. If I wanna look like a soccer mom from the early 2000s, I'll own it.
you know, i was thinking similar. i would imagine some of the millennial freakout is that we spent years being shit on in editorial pieces for ruining everything with an entitlement complex by older gen writers. now, you have this nonsense of some gen z folks ragging on millennials for the trends they are attached to. for people who take the label of millennial to mean something significant, that endless onslaught must feel tiring--and this also explains why the entire reaction reels are full of white folks, who may only experience this sense of 'identity attack' on superficial shit like this, esp if they're cishet too? that's problematic af but it does give context to why some folks are fucking going out of proportion and taking it so damn seriously. there's a lot of ageism and shit involved in the background here ofc, and it absolutely is pushing the same damn pattern, it's very hypocritical and it's worrisome if it bleeds out into other areas especially (ie indicating a conservative mentality forming). the problem is not the kids making fun of old trends though, that's probably an eternal thing. what are these millennials doing, tho? it's nonsense and foolish. as a millennial, high school was a long time ago, girlies. just log the fuck out if you feel too much about it, let the kids have their fun.
and you know whats crazier? Older Gen Z (1995-2005) and millennials born after 85 are close in age, have almost everything in common, and grew up with just about the same stuff and people need to deal with it. Its like older and younger siblings. If you are too young to be the younger generations parent, then you are close in age. So why fight?
@@cutiedopo17 You are exactly right on that statement. Whoever came up with the generation range needs to go back to the drawing board. I say this because older Gen. Zers have nothing in common with the younger ones. I’m sure millennials are the same way with younger millennials having nothing in common with older ones.
I’m 36 so not sure if I’m a millennial but the 90’s trends coming back in style now made my heart so excited! Because now I can actually afford the things I wanted in 6th 7th 8th 9th grade! It finally gave me the push to get the doc martins I wanted as a 12 year old. I got the clueless inspired (to me) plaid skirt etc. living my best life lol
Yeah you’re probably a millennial but there’s nothing wrong with that because at the end of the day, it’s all about personality and not appearance. From a Gen Z person.
I’m gen z and never knew skinny jeans were “outdated” I guess that’s what happens when you’re ✨poor✨
It’s okay no one is judging you, feel free to wear whatever makes you comfortable. The age of fashion trends should come to an end.
Same I’m gen z and I have skinny jeans (well they’re more like my sisters, but we share our clothes) and I do want baggy or flare jeans, but I just don’t really have the money for it. But yeah in the future I’m thinking of having skinny, flare and other types of jeans in my closet 😊
I’m gen z and love skinny jeans??? Especially the high-waisted ones their SO CUTE
@@user-pm5nr8zy7m YES 😩🤌

This honestly goes with the clothing waste problem. People are pressured into wearing trends and made fun of if you’re not wearing the trend. Then they throw away the clothes they love because it isn’t accepted by society. Let people wear what they want tbh
Exactly I was thinking this when I heard people saying “throw out your skinny jeans. Wear these instead” I thought about how they can say to throw out our clothes (that aren’t cheap) so easily. Also the price. We don’t get jeans for free. I wanna keep what I have, and then save up if I want to buy other types of jeans.
Ikr during quarantine I would gladly wear my skinny jeans to go out grocery shopping and run errands with my mom now that I went back to school I haven’t dared to even touch my skinny jeans because I feel awkward and so out of place from my friends that have all mom and baggy jeans, in which I only have about 3 pairs and that’s it so I end up wearing the same 3 jeans I have, to school just so that I don’t feel awkward 😭.
@@ariiblink people like to play into trends. Just saying, a lot of other people are also probably holding back their skinny jeans just to blend in, don’t feel too bad about it. Don’t even worry about it. And in the future skinny jeans will probably trend again anyway. Hope these fashion trends stop so that people won’t throw out their old clothes, and everyone can just wear whatever they want without feeling guilty.
@@paradisesomeday6630 Even if skinny jeans were to come back and be trendy, no one is going to force you to wear baggy clothes or tight pants because at the end of the day we are all human beings and it’s all about personality rather than appearance.
I like y2k trend only because many things I have wore in elementary school in early 2000s I can wear again and be fashionable without buying like the small bags, bandanas, colorfull jewelry and butterfly clips, some people try to mock me for my pictures in skinny jeans but like I cant afford new jeans so unless they offer to buy me new clothes I will keep ofending the world with my skinny jeans 😅
As an 'elder millennial' I just wanna say I have been super pumped about more silhouettes coming back! My ideal jean is actually a Monica Geller cut from friends 1995. But they were so hard to find and skinny jeans were the only option and I love that gen z has brought back tons of silhouettes and more just dressing how you want. I love the 90's resirgance as well! I can finally incorporate some of the stuff I wasn't allowed to wear the first time. I know a lot of people my age who are also like living their best life with looser jeans. Like I still love a good slim fit pant but more in a 60's silhouette and not the death grip that 2014 was.
As someone who is a larger size (and Gen Z) with wide hips I refuse to give up on skinny jeans. Of course, I like baggier styles of Jeans and Pants for comfortability factor, but imagine having thick thighs and a big butt and a comparatively small waist and trying to find non-stretchy pants that fit. Yeah. Takes a lot longer. So, I like Skinny Jeans for that reason and also because I have short legs and it’s so much easier to roll up or even just scrunch up the hem with skinnier jeans. In general, I find it quite ridiculous that people dress exclusively for trends instead of for their body type and comfort and shame other people for doing otherwise…
fr lmaoo
I think we are going to get there but it’ll take a little longer before style becomes a thing of the past.
As a genz i literally don't care what jeans you wear or which side you part your hair. Aren't there much bigger problems in their life than to yell at people on tiktok for something as trivial as that 😭 just wear whatever suits you damn it
Yeah that’s why I’m not on Tik Tok which is a dumb cringy platform for people with no original thoughts 😁 sadly I had to hear on Facebook that some little shits had a problem with my skinny jeans when they should be doing homework. Same, I just block any videos about it on tik tok. As a person who likes harijuku, alt and a lot of other aesthetics, I literally don't care.
I think the main problem is fashion today is so youth focused, nobody wants to grow out of it. Up until the 50s and 60s there were different fashion trends for different ages, you could age out of one fashion trend, but right into another and always feel that you fit somewhere. Not today, millennials still feel young and want to be fashionable but fit nowhere.
this is a super good point! i would say it's been only in the last 10 years that "youth" fashion has blended so much with "adult" fashion... probably bc brands develop a lot of their marketing strategies to target younger audiences on social media and so they end up abandoning the older demographic... and also bc i think celebrities and influencers just get younger and younger (vs. back in the day, when stars in their 30s were still very relevant). just my hypothesis though!
You need to look at the history of what was acceptable before coming to conclusions.. things like bright coloured hair, tattoos etc are now acceptable in the work place. When i first started doing hair ten years ago, all of my ‘professional’ clients had to get streaks underneath, to hide the ‘fun’ part under their natural colour to hide it at work. Had a young girl from a private school who couldnt alter her colour mor ethan 1-2 shades different from her natural... now most clients can have visible tattoos or pink hair and its much more acceptable. Society changes. Its not just fashion but in all of life. Jeans used to be not allowed in formal work places, dinners, or some nightclubs. And the advertising/media has ALWAYS used youth trends to drive market tastes. Its been said since the 90’s (and prob even before, w/80,s mall culture) that ‘14-17’ have most influence and spend the most shopping at stores(on clothes, novelty items, etc) out of any generations. This is much before the millennial generation that this has been a known thing. So its definitely not that ‘fashion today is so youth focused’ and its not a ‘millennial’ anything lol its society for a long ass time has been youth focused. Nothing new under the sun!
I'm a GenX in my 50s and I feel that my generation was probably the first to blur the line between what would be considered "age appropriate" clothing. I wear whatever I like as long as I feel good in it and it suits me. I have jeans in all styles. My favourite at the moment is a pair of loose fitting straight leg that I think are pretty ageless but can look super trendy depending on what I wear with them. I've seen trends come and go and come back again. Fashion belongs to everyone and shouldn't be used to attack or belittle people.
Woah, isn't it ageism? I thought one fashion for everyone is right. Like whatever your age you're beautiful.
People need embrace being old. MILFS/DILFS/Hot Older People who are comfortable in their skin are cool asf.
I still remember going to middle school where my class mates would talk down on me for wearing a middle part and wide-legged jeans instead of side parts and skinny jeans, and nowadays some gen z kids really think they did something when they trash talk skinny jeans. Everyone should wear what is comfortable to them and makes them feel/look good imo and since I'm small but have an hourglass figure, mom jeans usually look horrible on me lol
I'm Gen z and I had a middle part in middle school when the side part was cool so when I got to highschool I ditched the middle part and bangs and got a side part, then all of a sudden the middle part became popular again, also I tried getting into the mom jeans trend this year but I just don't find baggy jeans comfortable and I hate the look of flared jeans on me
It's not like people really cared what part I was wearing though, I was just observing the change of fashion trends
Older gen Z (1994ish-2005) had the same middle school culture as you. I don't know why some people think gen z are freaking 12.
@@cutiedopo17 The generation range is too broad, some of us older gen zers that were born in the late nineties don’t necessarily fit in with the younger Gen zers. Whoever came up with the idea needs to go back to the drawing board.
As a ‘98 baby I couldn’t give less of a shit with this obsession of fighting over trends. Time and time again a younger generation will mock the older generation. It’s happened for centuries with younger kids separating themselves from the previous.
honestly i couldn’t care less about this whole discussion but what actually annoys me a bit is how it seems like ppl, not matter what generation they’re in, are so obsessed with being into what’s trendy to the point they basically forget any sense of personal style, like imagine spending money every year to buy an entire new wardrobe just to look exactly like everyone else,,,, that seems insane
UGH YES! finally someone who describes this perfectly 👏🏼

Mom jeans does it for me. Skinny jeans make my butt even flatter 😫
yes queen, stan fromis_9
Yes! That and what makes my thighs thinner. Flares always make me feel like my thighs look larger for some reason despite being thrilled that they are coming back. I used to wear the bootcut when it was popular in the 00s.
I'm turning 24 this year and I've definitely been feeling the weirdness of not being "new" (like, in the way teens are new). Part of me still feels like a teenager, so seeing real teenagers look and act different than my peers back then is almost unsettling. Like the world is changing and I wasn't part of that change. Thankfully, I only feel this way when specifically thinking about this debate lol. Really, I love that styles are changing I love that teenagers are doing new things. Also, I love changing up my own fashion, and it's nice that I'll always be able to follow or intentionally break trends if I'm bored.
Mm interesting, considering that the teens wearing what we discarded as dated and unfashionable as teens before choosing skinnies, I don't feel "not new", just fascinated by fashion cycles repeating themselves, because they're not wearing anything new. Another generation will rise up and say baggy jeans are dated soon 🤷
As a teen (I'm 14), I'm not really in the loop. I didn't know skinny jeans were out of style until yesterday. Don't feel too bad about it lol.
I'm 32. That feeling never goes away. I still don't feel like an adult, I feel like I did at 16. I can obviously look back and see I've changed (thank god), but I'll always feel like I haven't. There's a Decemberists song called "We All Die Young" and it really applies to this. You never let go of that core person and feeling like adolescence was just a few years ago.
Same here and I am only 21!
I guess I’m the same way and I’m 25
i found it interesting when that essayist discussed how skinny jeans were more accessible to her body type. as a chubby person, my self esteem suffered during the skinny jean era bc they were so unflattering on me. i think it's dumb to adhere to fashion trends when they're only ever made for one "ideal" body type. idc if your outfit's trendy as long as the vibes are there.
this is super interesting to me cus as a fellow chubby person, skinny jeans are really the only kind of jeans/pants in general i really feel are flattering on me haha
So long as they're high-waisted and I can breathe, I'm happy.

High-waisted, straight or wide leg fit *chef's kiss*
Hell yeah!
A lot of this debate genuinely DOES seem to stem from ageism and a fear of getting “older” and not being considered “cool” anymore. Even though some millennials keep saying they don’t care what Gen Z says is trendy, based on how some of them respond, it really seems like they do and it makes me feel bad. Being reminded of your age/mortality in a society that associates youth to beauty/popularity, is really shitty. It’s like a societal issue we’re seeing play out through fashion trends.
Pretty much man. It’s less about jeans and more about who gets to sit at the cool kid table and who doesn’t.
Exactly. Millennials wore baggy jeans in the 90s and early 00s, but now some of them get behind skinny jeans (that completely out of fashion currently) only because they need a reason to get mad at Gen Z. - Zillenial.
@@mashajacaranda807 right! Like, are we pretending we didn’t laugh at older people’s style sometimes? I know I did
Yeah I just deal with my feelings of trauma around ageing by talking to my therapist instead of being mean to kids. It's extremely embarrassing how obviously people are hurt by teens being like "adults aren't cool" - that's what kids are supposed to do! I feel real cringe about that millennial with the weird comedy song insisting how much she doesn't care. You wrote a song about it, that's almost the epitome of showing you care just after poetry. I do feel like this partly stems from millennials not feeling able to grow up because of the societal conditions we grew up in, many of us having no access to work so staying in education for years or piecing together part time jobs meant for "kids", no way to get on the property ladder, many still living with parents, the ideals of the generation before that signified adulthood just basically being impossible for us. So we still feel like we're the kids. Then actual kids are popping up reminding us we aren't and many are just feeling kind of spun off course by the reminder. I think also we were the first generation to really grow up with the internet and we feel like we own it in a way, so with an app like tiktok being very gen z heavy many millennials maybe feel a bit kicked off their turf, and the jeans thing is just insult to injury or whatever.
@@AM-kr4pv that’s what I was thinking. Millennials are still often treated as kids by some in the older generations. So being treated like a kid, but losing one of the only good things about being “the youth”, that is- dictating fashion, well that sucks. It’s like we’ve got nothing. I know some zoomers make fun of millennials using the word “adulting”, but we use it to show that we don’t really feel like adults, because most of us can’t afford to meet the “proper adult rites of passage”- like getting married and buying a house. So we feel like we aren’t proper adults, and that phrase is a way to point that out. I will say though that I think this little faux generational war needs to stop. Because Gens Y & Z need to work together to try to make the earth even slightly liveable for ourselves and future generations. I just see this as something so incredibly unimportant that is coming between us, when we really need to be pulling together. Does it matter that I’m not cool or trendy anymore? No. My fashion is already 100+ years out of date, so I don’t really care. But I do care about politics the environment. Let the young people have their time dictating the fashion (we already had ours), and just get on with the important stuff.
For me, it's something entirely different: 90s/Gen Z fashion often reminds me of a very awkward time in my life... Sweaty, greasy tweens trying to "style" themselves and failing because... well... we didn't have the same resources kids do now. And for some of us, we were stuck doing the best we could at the clearance rack of JCPenney where it was just not affordable enough to make shirts long enough to cover our chubby tween torsos. So we slapped on the smiley face patches and butterfly clips and hoped it distracted from our lackluster (poor kid) fashion and brace faces.
Born in 93 and I wear skinny jeans because I’m curvier and finding baggier jeans to fit my butt and thighs is a process. Also, I’ve got a 50s aesthetic and the tapered silhouette that skinny jeans give me goes with my vibe. I was also an emo kid in my teens, so maybe it’s just ingrained into my style at this point 😂
I always get confused when Americans talk about skinny jeans and barely getting into them and out bc they're so tight.... Like for me skinny jeans are just the type that goes against the leg shape and doesn't flare anywhere,... It doesn't have to cut your circulation people
The problem is that some people wear them a size too small, because they hate the idea of feeling "fat". That, and it also just depends on the quality of the jeans.
@@elizrebezilmadommdo1662 I feel like this was a more of a thing when they were low-cut, because if they weren’t tight on the hips they’d fall down.
Yes, i mean in Brazil people use skinny jeans all the time (It's normally the school's uniform) and it's actually comfortable , another type of pants, people use more for hang out, because it's more expensive lol, but in daily life it's more common see people using skinny jeans.
Right? Like, people been wearing too-tight jeans in flare and bell bottom style since the 60's and 70's. The jean style has nothing to do with it
@@Sleipnirseight That's very true. I've tried bootcut jeans that felt tight and skinny jeans that felt comfortable. It really just depends.

Literally
Also being short I remember these flared jeans always laying awkwardly on top of my shoes so I was glad that with skinny jeans you could just roll them up a bit and call it a day.
I think it’s funny the way people treat trends. I was only in high school three years ago and I was bullied for not wearing skinny jeans. Called dyke and other homophobic slurs. I wore baggy clothes as a transmasculine person who was deeply uncomfortable in my emerging feminine figure and hiding it lessened my dysphoria. It’s just ridiculous to me that three years later the younger kids in my generation are glamorizing the clothes I was bullied for in school only a couple years ago. Now that puberty is over and I’m more comfortable in my body I can finally wear skinny jeans and they’re shaming people on the Internet for it. I just 😤 let people wear clothes it’s not that deep for goodness sake.
EXACTLY
Everyone is bullied in high school... for anything and everything.
As a larger woman, skinny jeans were the first time I wore jeans and felt comfortable in a majority of the outfits, environments, and places I went. Baggy jeans just made me feel dowdy, so seeing them come back, I'm reminded of times when I had no idea what clothes could do for my self esteem and ability to project my inner feelings. Wear what you want, but in general, remember that a lot of people wear what they feel good in, on trend or not.
Agreed. Bootcut Jean's worked back when I was in high school and wore a size 8. Now at a size 18 skinny Jean's are SO flattering on me and larger baggier jeans look frumpy and unfinished.
One might think because my top part is bigger that baggy jeans or bootcut would flatter me and balance out my lower half but because I have no waist if I wear something like that I just look like a huge rectangle and skinny jeans at least give me the illusion of a waist so I've just been wearing them for years and years now. People can wear what they want honestly but just because something is "trendy" does not mean it would flatter every body type.
Thank you for putting words to something I’ve been feeling. In an effort to try some of the new trendy pants….I’ve had a revisit to my teenage years… crying in the dressing room because everything I try on either doesn’t fit or makes me look like a whale. I’m so confident in my skinny jeans, but I’d love to be on top of the new trends as well. Sigh 😒
It's so ironic to me to see all these comments of "non-skinny" people loving their skinny jeans because they made them feel better about their body and etc, because I'm not super fat but all my bodyfat is in my hips and legs and I've never owned any because I have never found a pair of skinny jeans that would fit me. Maybe it's a cultural thing from where I live (not US), but no matter which size of pants I get to try, their ankle and calf region size are always super tiny, the only thing that they enlarge is the waist part (and I actually have quite a small waist, comparing to everything else below it, so it made even less sense in my particular case). I couldn't even try them on properly, they never got past half my thighs. I'm glad to hear it worked out great for you all, though. Also, my pants don't last enough to save them for the next time they'll be on trend... Should I be getting higher quality clothes? 🤔
I’m just hoping and praying to god that low raise jeans don’t come back. Low raise jeans are the Bain of a fat girls existence.
I haven't worn jeans (or any pants other than sweatpants, leggings, and pajamas) since March 2020..
The real lesson was the jeans we didn't wear along the way.
😭😭factssss
You know i just realised I haven't either. I bought two pair of jeans in 2020 but of course, spent the year in pajamas and leggings.
I barely wore jeans they were never comfortable to me lol
The legend
loooooved your thoughts on aging. i would so love to hear more about cultural expectations surrounding aging, since i’m sure it’s not like this all over the world. also it’s so refreshing to hear these carefully researched historical perspectives. i think so much of our problems today is that we forget that literally everything has happened before. every struggle we face has historical precedents that can give us so much perspective that allows us to not be so catastrophic about everything
It´s kind of funny cause I hated skinny jeans when they first came out, but over time I was won over (also: you couldn't find any other type of jeans in the shops), I filled my closet with skinny skins and now I am being told I have to change again and ... that liking skinny skins is a a generational trait, and I am unfashionable for having them when actually... I was kind of reluctantly forced into them! My point.. live long enough and you see fashions change 3-4 times, go away and come back again. Just don't attach meaning and coolness to your fashion choices, in 10 years everything we wear now will be viewed as cringe. Try to wear what you actually like and not blidntly succumb to trends.. its difficult but in the long run it is the most sustainable route.
As a plus sized women, I'm really glad you mentioned the impact skinny jeans had on fat women. Something I've noticed for a while is that trends tend to trickle down to us, and when skinny jeans were first emerging, we couldn't have them because no one wants to make trendy clothing for us. We were stuck with boot cut jeans that were considered unfashionable when skinny jeans became popular, and we were only able to get skinny jeans that fit us after a few years. Now the trend is stiff/rigid denim with a looser silhouette, but if you look at a lot of plus size options for jeans, most of them still veer toward a more body-hugging silhouette. I'm sure we'll get to enjoy the trend eventually, but there's something to be said about a certain kind of person being seen as desirable and how available trends are to those people.
The other thing to consider is that when you're not using stretchy fabric, your patterns need to be that much more accurate to the form they'll be worn on. And mass-market fashion doesn't exactly have a great track record on sizing up cutting patterns well beyond a size 10. Not to mention anyone beyond an American size 4 can have their fat and muscle in a lot of different places and volumes.
How about that weird whiskering they used to do around the crotch/front thigh area of jeans. Like, I'm already battling the camel toe. I don't need my jeans to accentuate it with faded denim lines.
Also, not daring to wear skinny jeans when they first came into style, because the name brought us way to many fatphobic sayings like "skinny jeans don't make skinny legs" and 'fashion tips' stating that skinny jeans just aren't made for fat people. I only wore tights and dresses for years because skinny jeans were the only style of jeans available and I was too insecure to wear them in fear of being made fun of (was a older teenager/young adult then). And now it's the opposite way, that we are told to keep wearing skinny jeans, because we would look bigger in wide leg jeans and that's somehow bad? Fuck that noise!
Sooo true, when skinny jeans first started becoming popular but plus sized jeans didn't cater to it, I used to pin my boot cut pants to look like they were skinny jeans LOL
The irony of now almost all plus size jeans being skinny jeans when I just want some damn high waisted mom jeans.. :')
Your point about "mom-jeans" originally being a derogatory term is definitely spot-on, 13-year-old-me was RELENTLESSLY bullied for not wearing skinny jeans in 2008. It was definitely influenced by ageism, but another big part of it was classism; my family couldn't afford store-bought clothes at that point, so I mostly wore hand-me-downs (sometimes literal mom-jeans because they were my mon's old jeans lmao), donated, or second-hand-clothing. I couldn't help but roll my eyes when 6-7 years later, those very same bullies started wearing jeans that looked _exactly_ like those they bullied me for, and they all started thrifting after it became super trendy (instead of something people looked down on), too. I know it sounds like a tired platitude at this point, but I'll always wear what makes me happy, no matter if it's fashionable or not. I 'm interested in fashion, I _enjoy_ fashion, but I won't stop wearing something just because it's no longer trendy.
True that, I didn't give a shit about what other people thought about my clothes either, I wore what I had and what I liked and didn't care at all what my classmates thought about it (I actually wore a pair of my dads old shorts an entire summer cause I absolutely loved the color of blue they were). I guess us poor kids learned early on what others don't realize until much later in life, it's my life and other peoples opinions really don't matter.
So well said! And same, skinny jeans didn't fit my body, and in my country I couldn't get plus size skinny jeans so I continued wearing mum jeans/cargo pants lmao and I was happy but it still kinda sucked. I think having a personal style you're happy and comfortable with is healthier than trying to force yourself to follow the trends of the time
you're so right about the classism 😭 the whole trend cycle thing is elitist and wasteful honestly style >>> trendiness
Exactly!!!!
SO true. man i remember being in middle school in like 2013 and wearing ratty hand me down tees half my age and my mom's old jeans and bellbottoms from the 80s. wish i'd known myself better at the time, at least i wouldve been more comfortable
I was convinced jeans were just uncomfortable pants because I used skinny jeans for my whole youth until one time I bought a pair of regular jeans and felt like I just opened a lifelong secret
I love skinny jeans, I also love baggier mom jeans. I think being a true fashionista involves loving and rocking trends from all decades.
As a millennial Chicago gurl I think it’s all silly. I wear skinnies and wide legs . Depends on my outfit. Everyone needs to calm down. Plus when it’s negative 11 degrees out with 3 ft of snow on the ground my skinnies tuck very nicely into my snow boots. So even if they’re considered ugly they will be a winter must have for life

I honestly do not care about skinny jeans or mom jeans. It's great that now we have a lot more variety in shops and everyone can wear whatever they want. Not low-rise jeans tho. Death to low rise jeans.
This whole situation is crazy to me because nobody outside of tiktok cares. I've seen people bringing the emo/scene aesthetic back and gen zs seem to be into paris hilton so I wouldn't be surprised if skinny jeans come back soon with how quickly trends change
Absolutely. I rather wear what I want and what looks good on me.
You go on Twitter or Instagram and see ppl in their 20s and 30s beeing either nostalgic about their emo phase back in the 00s or shit on themselfs and how embarrassing they looked and then you go out and casually see a group of emos hanging out on a park bench like.. do people forgett that free will is a thing? Wear what you like and don't shit on yourself so much
I think once you're 30 you can stop worrying what teenagers think of you. It's their job to find you uncool and it's your job to find a definition of cool that makes you feel confident. Whatever looks good on you is cool. Style is cool. Fashion is someone else trying to tell you what's cool and that's important when your 14 but you can grow out of that shit.
I'm 34 and I love how the older I've gotten I care less and less about what other people think about me, not only regarding fashion. It's liberating and I wish I felt like this all my life.
Most people don't have personal taste or preferences, this is why they follow trends and need external sources telling them what fits together. Doesn't matter if they are teenagers or adults. Coming up with a personal style and fitting different items and colors is a skill like photography or painting. Some people see it innately and don't have to learn, but most do.
Should be even younger ; 25 at least but I agree with your sentiment.
well said. I'm soon to be 28 and I really don't see why I should be considered cool in the eyes of my students. I'd be worried if they would think I'm cool because I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to be cool to them. But I do have some students who told me they thought I was cool for things I thought would make me weird in their eyes. So that's nice.
I agree. 😂 I think most Gen Zers are pretty stylish, especially compared to teenagers and people in their 20s of my generation, but I’m still going to wear what I want.
I *just* got into wearing "skinny" jeans more in like the last 5-ish years... I hated how skinny jeans made my feet look enormous, so I held onto my bootcut/flare styles for the longesttt time lmao. And *now* it's changing again!?!?! 🤦🏼♀️ You've gotta be kidding me 😭😭 FML lmao
This was a really great video! This topic of comparing generations in general and understanding where the differences come from is so interesting to me
I recently heard another KZheadr who sometimes does fashion related stuff say, that she thinks we're slowly moving into a time of "everything is trendy" where we embrace all kinds of fashion from different time periods at the same time. and i really hope that it's going to happen, because i frequently see people like you rocking vintage fashion, but also people wearing 70s, 80s and 90s inspired outfits and I love it. it's just less restricting
I hope that happens because than maybe these “micro trend” would end.
🙏❤ praying that trends slow down and let people enjoy it for years to come
Wait this might be the answer to stop mass clothing production 😳 if a large amount of people want to dress like it’s 10+ years ago, second hand might suffocate first hand fast fashion
Just saw a video by Karolina Żebrowska mentioning something like that as well
do you happen to have a link to the video/channel?
Notice too that it seems like most generational war topics revolve around pitting women and teen girls against each other. I don't hear about guys commenting on each other's fashion much. This all just seems like another ploy to make women and girls constantly feel like they're competing, rather than coming together to support one another and focusing on issues that matter.
YES! It's just white women infighting and it's a genuine waste of energy for both parties
to play devil’s advocate, guys don’t really care all that much about fashion in comparison to women so that’s why there aren’t many guys (if any) actually coming into the war. This is just a war started by insecure white women of their own volition.
@@craneisthename i have seen that men tend to argue that younger generations are too "feminine'', ''queer'' or ''unmanly'', thus there is a war between older and younger men just in a different form

I feel like here in the UK, skinny jeans are still super popular. Most affordable high street stores sell mostly skinny/straight-legged jeans as these are pretty much standard. You can get baggier ones but you'd have to go somewhere a bit more upmarket to find them most of the time, or at a vintage store.
here in Poland also skinny jeans are super popular. The baggy one are usually wore by streetwear kids or lgbtq kids
Thanks so much for making this video! I really appreciate all the research you did and how you shared your sources to back up your points. This was a great video! :)))
Trends are really annoying, because instead of just wearing what we like, we feel pressured to show that we "know" what's in trend rather than just enjoy fashion for what it is, an extension of ourself which allows us to express our style

We should really channel that “anger” towards retailers. People have different bodies, preferences and style. Stop making one type of silhouette. And that way people can wear what they want instead of having to steer trends in the direction of what works for them otherwise they’ll spend 5 ish years wearing something they don’t like because hats all that is available for purchase.
This!
That's true. I'm all about the high waisted baggier fits but I'm scared if I don't snatch them up now they'll disappear into the fast fashion abyss or I'll only be able to find them out of my price range. Clothes should be functional first and foremost.
Exactly, even though there's demand for certain things and they target those specific things, brands still get to choose what they produce. And they make a lot of cheap sh*t tbh.... 😆
Yes! Retailers started marketing towards teens back in the 1960s (the teens in question would have been boomers, and the Silent Gen were in charge at the time). "Trendy" has been equated with "adolescent" since then, and different age groups have not really dressed the same since then. It's always been up to the individual whether or not to follow certain trends. I personally like some of the Gen Z trends so I'll be trying them out, others are not for me so I'll skip them, just like I skipped the "pregnant look" shirts in 2007.
I love your videos and your style. I'm turning 40 this year and you know what, aging is part of life. It's fine. Love your sentiment, "When it comes to jeans, wear what you want to wear"💕
It’s so crazy how your perception can change about a certain thing over time. When skinny jeans became popular again I was about 12-13 years old. I thought they were so ugly, I hated them. I eventually fell into the trend, partly because that’s all that was sold at the malls, lol. But fast forward to now, I’m 26 and I’m having a hard time letting my skinny jeans go. I like the flares and bootcut jeans, but skinnies are always my go to, lol.

I'm a millenial and I don't even wear skinny jeans anymore...because I got bored of them. But I also think that skinny jeans are not a trend but more of a classic item at this point.
Same. I also don't think they flatter most body types except "skinny-but-not-too-skinny". Though from other comments I see that others think the opposite, that it's the only flattering thing on curvy or overweight bodies.
Why do people have enough money to change their jeans according to trends? I’m gen z and I wear skinny jeans bc I‘ve bought them some time ago and can’t just buy a whole new set that is not skinny jeans 😐
Trendsetters are usually upper middle class is why. These are the same kids who got new fine liners every year and carried a fjallraven a few years ago. Maybe even had a few of them.
@@stringcheese6833 yeah that makes perfect sense. The fjallraven backpacks and Stabilo Finliners were definitely what the girls who‘d make fun of me for not conforming to trends had back then
i wanna buy mom jeans but i cant find any that aren't expensive + i need to wear them irl because I hate online shopping for jeans but all the fitting rooms are closed due to corona so im stuck with these skinny jeans that do not flatter me at all :(
For real, staying on trend, really just encourages consumerism.
@@michelle6700 Jeans are SO overpriced it drives me crazy
I swear to god if the 2010s come back in style I will literally live out the rest of my life in a cave
Same, I had to live through the fedora and finger mustache era once. I can’t do it again 😅
a nightmare that you just have to brace yourself for.
party rockers in the house tonight
Ah, your outfit (well, this top part) is so beautiful!
Personally, I love skinny jeans. I’m 5’1’’ and plus-sized, so most other cuts of pants make me look like a box. I feel comfortable in them and with my body type, I feel I look the best in them. Just wear what you like, y’all!
I relate to this a lot! I always found that being short and having big thighs meant flared jeans always made my legs even bigger and me more self conscious
I get that. But for me they make me SO incredibly claustrophobic. I get like sensory overload with the tight fabric clinging to my skin. I LIVE for the recent supper baggy jeans trend because I can finally wear jeans without feeling like I want to claw them off haha. They’re also much more practical for skateboarding and days spent doing long walks. But to be honest I don’t know why people are getting so deep about jeans, just wear what works for you :)
wear whatever you want always, but honestly millennials lost when that girl started RAPPING to defend eminem. that was the end
Yeah. If you support somebody who said a racial slur and depicts black girls as stupid gold diggers, you've already lost. And to be honest, the rapping was just awful and cringeworthy.
Exactly that’s not very Hufflepuff of them
@@276acc7 Don't forget about the homophobia too 🤦♂️
@@user-us7py1cy2k OMG💀💀💀
Yeah like even eminem would make fun of her
I'm a millennial and I remember squeezing myself into skinny jeans just because it was "the" jean to wear. But I never actually liked it because the were so freaking uncomfortable! I have thicker calves and wider hips, looser jeans make me feel confident. It's essentially about feeling good in the clothes you wear.
At the end of the day it is just a pair of pants. Wear what makes you happy or comfortable and live your life! :)
you have such unique content!! and i adore it even tho it so isn’t my type!
I really don't care about skinny jeans but if anyone DARES to bring back low rise jeans and that's all you can buy i WILL throw a fit. I have a legit fashion trauma over having my buttcrack exposed all the time it was HELL (and yes, i wore a belt and it didnt help bc low rise jeans are the devil)
Seriously though low rise jeans made me miserable for years!!!!
so glad once i got to high school they stopped being popular middle school was Hell bc of low rise jeans (this is a hyperbole i was bullied in middle school)
seriously, why was my middle school butt out in public?
lol my thoughts exactly, I'm indifferent about skinny jeans BUT I hate low rise with a fiery passion.
As a guy I still have flashback to the time when I wore my baggy jeans low and my boxers higher XD.
i just dont want low waist jeans to be back, i will cryy
Same they suck only extremely skinny people look even half decent in them
@UC4iKS5y2fKhreqzN6m14Vlg huh? I’m sorry but they kinda suck
a good thing about trends is that you dont have to follow them, keep wearing your high waist jeans if you want!
They are backkk

After rewatching this analysis I thought it would be super fun to analyze the trends, differences & similarities in the alt sub cultures 💞
I love this take. Thanks for your work 😍😍😍
I still have one pair of solid-fitting, high waist black jeans that I guess would be considered skinny! (Though my legs can breathe, thank god) other than that, lately I wear straight leg jeans, mom or boyfriend jeans, and some wide leg pants. Absolutely here for bell bottoms and flares too, I usually just have to get those hemmed
Omg I watch you so it’s fun to see you watch other people I watch!
your flared leggings vs yoga pants video walked, so that Mina Le's video about skinny jeans could run 😄
I'm so short that when I hem bell bottoms they just look like straight leg jeans lmao
Ugh yes!! But hemming bell bottoms usually just turns them into bootcut jeans for me hahaha 😩
Also, if you have a rectangular body, high waisted flared or bell bottom pants with a belt, will make you look like a GOD. They fit us soooooo well

@@freddiereborn9354 It does work better in Spanish. Usually translations suffer but that one is much better.
I love that we have so many styles to choose from now, I hope we stop shaming others to validate our personalities 🖤
I agree with you on that. Trends tend to hurt people rather than unite them, it’s time we move away from trends and start something else.
Not me bullying my mom in 2005 to throw out her skinny jeans to get flared jeans because I was embarrassed by how untrendy she looked. Sorry mom! Love you, you look great in whatever you choose to wear!
When I was a teen, people (mostly guys) were literally beaten, r*ped, and murdered for dressing emo, so this whole debate bugs me for that reason alone. For the love of God, can we please stop caring about what other people wear and just focus on being comfortable in our own clothes
If that's you in the picture, please know that you are absolutely gourgous! I wish I could do my makeup like that :)
Literally. This whole debate is so fucking pointless.
damn girl, where do you live?
@@aleksstan7009 That's what I was wondering, I know kids got bullied heavily for being emo but the rest is....wow, holy hell didn't know about that.
@@aleksstan7009 if this is at all surprising to you, you must be a normie
I still can’t process that the early 2000’s is around 20 years ago
Yeah. It's a lot to take in
same
I was 3... I can't process that
me neither. 90s is old now??? 2000 i was 12.
I love your videos! they are so well researched and informative
Love your take on the topic! Definitely laughed out loud
As a millennial, I remember being afraid to embrace skinny jeans... until I appreciated how easy it was to wear tall boots and tuck my pants in. TBH baggy jeans bring back painful memories of wet jean bottoms while walking home on snowy days but I consider each style to be weather-dependent.
YES, the ripped wet bottoms of flared jeans were horrible! Also they had to be a very particular length to not stumble over, but also sit on your shoe and not swing back and forth while walking.
Exactly what I came here to say. I also remember getting my 32 inch jncos stuck in my bike chain on a school trip and having to scrub sidewalk salt off my pants every winter and it pissed me off like you wouldn't believe.
Holy shit you totally just brought me back, I forgot the horrors of wet/ripped jean bottoms. Hopefully kids have found a way around that, it was rather miserable having your pants fall apart so quickly
This is exactly why I like skinny jeans as well! :)
Same. Wet bootcut jeans all the time. Skinny jeans in boots means staying so dry all winter. I don't think I can go back.
i'm firmly on the straight leg/wide leg train! mom/boyfriend/skinny jeans are simply... not for me anymore 😇
We love it when the girlies watch eachothers’ contents!
Agree! Basically why don't people just look for what best compliments their body instead of keeps pointing fingers at one another.
i have a pair of ultra wide leg which honestly make me look too bottom heavy since my torso is short, so i prefer mid-rise straight leg or flares if i'm lucky enough to find petite ones. but anything that hugs my butt is 👌
I just find them uncomfortable, in the morning for school I just like to put leggings on then go back to sleep
omg queens
your personality makes me feel so warm I can't explain
Your skin is PERFECT, especially where your nose and eyebrows and forehead connect, what a glow and beauty you have Mina!!!
