EPIC Western DRY FLY Fishing | Idaho Series ep. 1
This past July, I made a spontaneous trip out to Idaho to fish with my buddy Scott. We were going up during prime time Salmon Fly season and we were hoping to find big fish willing to eat on top. Tag along with the series for the rest of this epic trip.

You’re doing what I wish that I was doing 40 years ago when I was your age. Keep doing it man, live that dream. Chase fish and dreams.
You are "we're" doing exactly what I WAS doing 40 years ago. Let's talk.
40 years ago my father went and fished in the exact same place and went to that same fly shop, i showed this video to him and he lit up when he saw island park pop up on the screen, and seeing that fly shop again
It’s really stupid how high quality your videos are, makes me feel like I’m watching a movie
Fish hits: Everyone in the boat: OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH DUUUDDEEEE! never gets old!
Another great video. I have a recommendation for your travels. Get some Forj Thermoplastic Tape Ribbon and keep one in the bus, in your travel bag and cut some off to keep in your river gear. You can repair almost anything with it. Could have repaired that key, rods I've seen broken and even the oars of a boat. There is another fiber tape that's water activated that you can repair major components with. You can buy it at home depot and keep it in the bus in case a major suspension component breaks. It will get you to a repair shop. Love all these videos, keep 'em coming!
I and my 3 brothers know that Laramie station very well and we cut our teeth in this very area. Now we collectively have 200 yrs of fly-fishing in several states and countries. Brings back memories!
Harvest the Bows on the south fork!!
I bet that guide was happy as hell he got yall bc you know he to fly fish very very well so he could enjoy the float and not be retying somebody's line every 5 minutes.
The Salmon Fly hatch on any river is going to be scary with a flyrod. Good lookin water.
WOW DUDE!! First of all amazing trip! Your filming and editing are an inspiration dude! You have quickly become my favorite channel by far! Keep crushin it!
The chip bag to brownie net has to be one of the best netting combos on KZhead. Another epic series!
The Key Guru was classic, cracked me up!
Corey is the MVP of the trip
Absolutely stoked for the Idaho series. I’m from Pocatello and just fished island park this weekend and saw this came out. Your videos are amazing as always. I look forward to your content. Usually the highlight of my week and a great excuse to put off homework.
How does this video not have millions of views?
absolutely stunning work man i really look forward to every video.
Great Video, looking forward to the rest of the series
My home turf! Floating the south fork is always a treat and a unique experience! Glad yall had fun and killed it.
I’m ready for the next episode guys! Let’s GOOO!
Amazing production value. Looking forward to seeing more
Always bringing the heat!
Incredible river and some top notch casts against the bank. Great video!
One of my favorite videos to date!
Dang...great video! You really do an awesome job. Fun float trip.
You just keep crushing it! Becoming one of my top 3 favorite all around sub's with a quickness.
Killer footage! Keep it up!
Awesome filmography of my favorite river. You put on the river right by my house and actually landed a fish in the backyard of my friends house! Great work as always.
Sweet film .... those trout are so aggressive and the eats were amazing ......
ALL great stories begin with "DUDE! Change of plans..."
You guys are hitting my home water!!!!!
Awesome seeing ya fish my home waters! The south fork is a gem!
Another quality piece from y’all! Keep it up, this video literally made me call into work tonight so I can go sling some bugs around instead
Great stuff again, thx
Just got back from Idaho about 3 weeks ago. Went out for 2 days with Henry’s Fork Anglers and had a great time. Can’t wait to go back
Cant freakin WAIT to see the next one! You boys are legends in the making. Stay safe out there and thanks for sharing this art with us!
You the man Lucas! Tight lines brother 👊🏻
Another perfect film. Always a blessing to get a new upload from you. 31K subs is criminal, worth well more than that. But that is what makes the push to bring that success that much more worth it. Thank god for someone like Cory! Tight lines guys and look forward to the next one.
Always appreciate you man! Thanks for the long time support. Corey came in clutch big time for this one.
Yeaaaaahhh boys! So sick.
I've never been to Idaho but it's definitely on the list... Great vid man!
Man the next episode is gunna be amazing!
Love the video! That's one of my favorite places to fish out west here! Great choice with Henry's Fork Anglers! Those guys are awesome! Congrats on your graduation too!
👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Just caught the biggest rainbow of my life at island park yesterday. Float the south fork all the time. Great vid.
Wonderful
Scottie!! The vids just keep getting better and better its a pleasure watching your videos, cant wait for ep 2. Need another Colorado series!!!
Thanks Jacob! I can't wait to get back out to CO, hopefully soon.
South Fork is an amazing fishery....was there last weekend and caught the grand slam. Big cutthroat, brown and many rainbows. Glad it's my backyard.
Glad to see you on the salmon fly hatch...can’t beat it!
Nothing like it!
What an awesome video. The aerial footage was great and worked in perfectly. Awesome shots of those takes. Great job as usual.
That rod holder system looked solid. Which one was that?
Heading to Idaho Oct 2-10 hitting the SF Snake and the Henry’s Fork below Ashton.....great video ! Any and all advice welcome !
Good luck Kent!
BWO's dry but October is the time to target big browns. Big streamers, Zonkers, double bunnies, even wooly buggers will work. Use white or yellow and white.
PrivateIdaho Thank you for your reply ! I have both my streamer box and BWO box ready to go ! Also my Mahogany duns.....
Mohair leech for the browns, woolhead sculpin.
that idaho intro had me geekin
This what a top notch Fly fishing video looks like. Had to subscribe. Keep up the quality man.
Thanks brother!
Hurry up with episode 2 please!!!
Looks like an awesome trip. Shoutout to the key guru too 😂
Love the intro on this!
Y’all done did it again! 🔥🔥🔥
Agreed! Definite 🔥🔥
Frickin’ sick
Well done guys 👍 It always seems like something screws up every time I get to Idaho too!
That’s what makes a fishing trip though!
That cast @ 8:37, that...was...💰
Great video! I"m supposed to be working on my grad school work!
So sick man
Electric video boys makes me miss throwing drys
FINALLY
Great video of home area. You video does it justice.
Awesome great job
Thanks Brian!
Hello Noah ! The fly that keep coming back to me is the streamer called a Slumpbuster...in black..olive and brown...also be on the lookout for blue wing olives.....BWO mayflies...good luck !
Love what you do buttttttf HAIL SOUTHERN
Colorado is the best place to go fly-fishing.
My back yard! my dad is a guide for the South Fork Lodge and the salmon fly hatch is insane
Amazing work as always! Question: what is the internal rod storage system inside the vehicle at 4:50?
awesome video
yesyesyesyesyyesyesyesyeysyeysyesyysydysyeyyseysyeysyeyseysyeysyes Whenever Im packing for a trip into the Whites I put one of your videos on and they just make me ready. Amazing video as always man. Im hitting my native wild streams this weekend
Love to hear it dude, go slay!
@@WildFlyProductions update on the weekend trip. Absolutely smashed (10ish) natives in the White Mountains. All on a hopper or stimi 😎😎😎
This happens to subarus also make sure to tape a spare key somewhere 😂
Are you still fishing with furled leaders? Thinking about picking some up. Always pumped when you upload!
Looks like you were catching those North Idaho CutBows
Great video of the SF! I grew up in Idaho Falls and fished it in the 70's. What ramp did you guys take out at? As you can imagine, things have changed as most all ramps except Palisades were dirt back then :-)
I’ve been follow the channel for a bit and somehow wasn’t subbed anyways fire epi big browns in the second?!
I'm from there and u need to do the float below were u got out its through the canyon and it is the best float on the hole south fork especially in salmon fly season for a couple days
Great one Scotty. What the heck kinda rod holder is that in the 4Runner.? Looks bette than my bungee set up.
6:35 favorite shot so far!
You broke down across the street from the west laramie fly shop :)
Small world, I live in St Anthony and went to App State 22 years ago
Hell yeah brother! Roll Neers
Solid video! I gotta ask, what kind of rod holder was inside that car?
I noticed the fighting butt on your rods. What weights are y’all using for these trout? In Ga I’m usually using a 2wt and occasionally a 5wt but I have never fished Idaho before.
Great Video. What is the info on the rod rack you have in the back of the SUV at the end of the video. Please share info. Just what I need.
Nice fish! Got to know the brand name for the rod rack in the suv?
I would watch 10 hours of this. When are you going to move west Scotty?
that’s the question we all want an answer to isn’t it?😅
Hell ya just stay in WY and ID and we good !
What is the rod holders your friend has in his 4runner? I'd love something like that.
Any idea what boat they were using? I need something like that!
What is the internal ride holder you guys used??
What do you use for video editing and production?
What rod mount is that at 4:49?
Nothing more attractive than a man and his relationship with fishing..
whats up scottie
yooooo
If you are fishing the South Fork of the Snake, and you catch Rainbow Trout, you should BONK them. IDFG wants them out of there.
Chumming the water with Doritos will bring the browns out to play.
haha exactly
I just got back from Island Park, Idaho.... the bomb... shhh don’t tell
Not a secret 😂 I guide up there and 90 percent of clients are out-of-state people vacationing or looking at properties!
What rod holder is that inside the SUV?
Fish and chips anyone 😂
Awesome video, however always such a bummer to see rainbows being released back into the SF. Know and respect the water you’re fishing and help protect the native Cutthroats.
I think the south fork creature sounds like a silver carp, it is an invasive species of Idaho.
What was that guitar song towards the end?
