It’s the update I get excited about! Scanning day is something I start to anticipate way back in the autumn when we start thinking about the next breeding season. We bought new sheep in the autumn , we used our old ram Vlad , and the weather has been awful so all of those things are factors that could mean scanning is exciting and potentially unpredictable! Hope you enjoy the update from Dale farm and watch to the end where we talk through the results and give our reactions! Thanks for watching!
Wonderful! I was scratching my head, wondering why I hadn’t seen a new video.? I’ve been busy so I thought it was me. Had to search and there it was. Great News! The quads worry me! Praying you have a good outcome and successful year. Many blessings be yours. ✌🏻❤️🇺🇸🙏🏻🇬🇧
Thank you for watching Andrew !
A quote from my poem. This year we had a perfect lambing as predicted by the scanning. No more singles hard to pull, no silly lambs just sucking wool. No triplets, quads or stressed out quinns, just twins, all twins and only twins. Weather fine, grass lush and green, I then woke up! ‘Twas all a dream. An excellent scan considering the diabolical wet weather they have had to put up with, but yes it comes at a cost with the extra feed and pet lambs.
I love the poem Wendy ! Made me smile! I’ll have to write it down!! Love it
Great poem Wendy 😊
Congratulations on the potential of all your lovely lambs to come! So happy that your home girls all contributing twins.... glad you mentioned them all particularly Bambi. I always look for her when you are out with the sheep. Glad the boys did a good job of romancing the ladies. The morning picture was beautiful! Take good care of yourselves.
Hi Donna! Yes my girls have mostly got twins which is a good number for them’ I an excited now for sure! It’s been really wet again here, very muddy and I am so ready for spring and warmth !
Hi Joanna, What a lovely peaceful morning. It's just what I like, I hate noise first thing. A fantastic result with the successful ram matings. Hopefully a busy season is on it's way...🤔👍🏻
I love peaceful times too
The rams certainly proved themselves because that's a good lot of lambs on the assembly line😁. As you correctly say though Joanna, the high number of triplets and the set of quads will certainly mean work and lots of it. Well done as always with your livestock management. Take care.
Thank you Jeff, yes plenty of lambs so we will be busy! It’s exciting for sure ! I just find triplets are so much extra work and often not going to be a return on your investment but at the same time I know I will do whatever I can to give them The best chance !
You @ Nick are looking good can’t wait for the lambing to start Joanna @ Nick. Brilliant result Joanna and Nick 👍👍👍
Thank you Sandy xx
good news on the scanning its going to be a busy lambing season for you and nick take care
Thank you Alan! Yes we are excited and I bit nervous as always
wow up and out, household chores AND make up done by 07.45!!! V impressed !
I am a morning person! Usually very productive early and less productive later! 🥰
Hey yall good to see ya and good scanning and a bit of good news spring is around the corner woo-hoo. Yall doing a great job and see ya on the next video take care and God bless 🙏👍😁
Hi Michael yep definitely ready for winter to be over now it’s been a horrible winter one of the worst!
I had hoped to see Cammy from “Sheep’s The Game” doing your scam. Well done on the results. From Iowa, USA
Hi 👋 it would be fun if Cammy was in the area but we aren’t in his patch in Derbyshire ! Nairn who scans for us is a great chap tho and we always look forward to him coming !
Glad to see you two are doing ok . Thyme tea is very good for lungs and colds . Strengthen them good to just sip on . Looks cold and damp . I hope lambing goes well gor you . It feels like 🌼🌱 spring hear two mounth early . Thankyou for the vid and keeping us up to date .
Thank you Nancy I grow thyme here so I wonder if I could make my own , I’ll look up some recipes! Here it’s very wet and grey and miserable
@@DaleFarm hello yes use the fresh you don't have to dry it just chopp it up about a teaspoon or less depending how strong you like it and add hot water and steep . I like just sipping on it . Take care .
Hi Joanna and Nick. It's good to see the sun out which will be help the grass to grow but there is still lots of mud in places. Your sheep looked like soldiers strutting into the shed 4 abreast at one stage. Your rams did a great job but you didnt say if you had any that were empty. The triplets and quads will keep you guys on your toes when lambing starts, but you both are getting better at it as each year passes. You both are looking happy and well especially since the engagement. I hope the weather improves so the muddy areas will disappear and Spring is just around the corner. Chris from Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺.
Hi Chris ! Oh it’s been awful again , rain and more rain it has got me down terribly ‘ You will see in the next instalment ! I don’t know how much longer it can continue, definitely ready and excited for spring x
Great farm keep up with the good work
Thank you Lyndon
Hi guys Glad yo see you both looking well Except for nicks man flu 😅 Well done on a great result of lambs hopefully all goes ok and yes you will be busy Enjoy the rest while you can Take care Love Kim x x
Hi Kim! The campsite has kept us busy the last 2 weekends it’s been popular but bad weather so it makes it feel hard work! I had a cold last week and a headache for. 3 days but I do feel better now just a sniffle , it’s really cold today. Been suing the slow cooker a lot x
Lovely work yous 2 nice vid and looks like lots of lambs on the way ok be safe thanks
Thank you Lee! We need some dry weather now but none forecast
Congratulations.
Xx thank you
Great to see you both back doing all the jobs on the farm..
Thank you 💪😀
I love watching the eyes come running to you!
It’s a nice feeling I never tire of!
Good results , and good luck when lambing starts
Thank you!
I can fully understand you not filming because the weather has given everyone the pip, but it's good to see you back, and the scan wasn't too bad, best wishes to you both from EA.
Thank you Colin! Yes the weather and conditions has made my mood a lot lower and it’s such a shame, as I want to enjoy what I do, but it’s very hard when it’s like this c
try and see if u could sell a few of the older triplets............. have been doing it for years .............................up till this year , hard to get a customer this year , so they are staying , ............just started lambing yesterday .............all done indoors here , fox was in the yard tonight shortly after dark , ........just to keep a eye on things .....!
Hi George , I had a dream I sold 30 sheep and regretted it! So maybe I won’t this year,!! But I do think it’s a good point , to save the effort with the triplets as it’s not always worth all the time and cost, 🙁
Good Morning Folks, it's probably a great relief to get this job done. Keep Smiling Joanna and Nick. 😊😊
Yeah it’s a relief and it’s exciting because now we can start to plan and get organised!
Always love to see the morning scenery, so peaceful. Good ewe scanning and nicks feeling better, very good. You all take care and thanks for sharing ❤
Thank you! A lovely morning is priceless especially for how it lifts the spirits I got poorly after nick but not too bad , a few days feeling rough x
Excellent video again thanks for sharing great result in the scanning
Thank you Terry
Good Scan. I don't like triplets myself but you can get them switched with the singles. Hope the weather soon dries up. You're a lovely person and i wish you the best at lambing time. I don't start until 21 March. Longer days and hopefully warmer. Your sheep are in great Condition considering the wet winter. Xxx
Yes triplets isn’t ideal for us , I hope we can do some adoptions ! It is easier To adopt it the singles are lambing on the same day , as the triplets so the lambs are more equal. Rather than adding a lamb a few days later seems less successful!
Great video again ,busy times ahead 🐑🐑
Absolutely! Hehe Need to start our running practise
Now it’s just waiting for the lambs to start arriving! The fun and not so fun times of lambing sea!
Yeah the thrills and joys and I’m sure disappointments too
Great to see you two back 😊 good results on scanning, look forward to seeing all the wee lambs
Thank you jane ! It’s been quite a miserable winter really ! Everything in a mess and the stock not looking their best in the constant wet
@@DaleFarm It has been awful let’s hope we at least get a summer this year 🤔 You’re doing a grand job x
Great scan results and it's a great job so you can divide up sheep and feed according to how many lambs they having. Hope you have a successful lambing.
Thank you, yes we will divide them up into groups this coming week x
Well done ye are a great team together, glad ye had a good result on scanning, it's always a worrying time for ye but yet again ye have mastered it take care.
Thank you! Yes need to get excited now and be ready for lamb’s arriving !
I an amazed that I know when you say the sheep names who they are and some of the history of then over the last few years
Hi Charles , I know quite a bit about the ewes and certain ones I remember more about than others! I do surprise myself sometimes with the things I remember!
We missed you. So glad to see you again. Looking forward to lambing 🐑🐑🐑
Ahhh thank you Cecilia ! It’s definitely been hard to stay positive and the weather has been mostly atrocious
We always look forward to lambing a very special time
Best of luck with all the ongoing jobs on the farm there now & take care 👍👍👍
Thank you Michael !
Good job! Glad to hear Bambi having twins hoping she can take good care of them.
Hi Roberta It’s the third time she is having twins, both occasions previously Bambi has not liked one of her lambs ! She eventually accepts it , but she had one favourite and the other one she doesn’t mother ! We hope that maybe it will be third time lucky this year and she won’t be so fussy
@@DaleFarm unfortunately it goes the same with us, although we refuse to admit it. We do love all of our children, but ultimately one child seems to stand out more so than the other.
nice one guys, the sheep are all looking well so generally things go well then, of course many things will happen during lambing which will alter the outcome to a degree. i think probably the biggest thing that determines the outcome is yes you've guessed it ......the weather at lambing time........hope it's better than last year ........it was awfull then i remember for you guys. anyway all the best.......spring is coming
Hi Gerald it’s been more horrible wet here again, beyond fed up of it! Yeah we are due some really good farming weather now
thats the first time i ever heard a scanner say that there was no rush .............!
I think he was partly joking haha
Congratulations on the new ones to come. The Boys still doing there job 👍👍👍Keep up the great work. God Bless you both ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much Stu 💪👍
What a wonderful way to live you should be very happy and don't forget to keep us up on the personals 😉🐝
🥰🥰
Late to this video Joanna and Nick. Anyhoo...GOOD results, a credit to solid anilmal husbandry skills you both have! Question...who painted that Highland cow picture hanging high in the background at the end of the video - it's very good. Be well - many blessings! Cheers...
Hi 👋 the highland cow on the wall was a gift from my sister to my dad, it’s a print not a painting, I thought it was a bit intimidating at first! 😂😂 but I’m used to it now! Thank you for your kind words x
Glad you are OK as was a little worried. Interesting Vlad performed well.
Thank you 🥰 just been a bit of a rubbish period feeling frustrated and demoralised by everything being in a mess
Good results for the farm good luck hope all goes well and smoothly 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you Paul! It should be an exciting time
Great job your doing, one day it will stop raining and that lovely spring weather will be with us I can’t wait, keep positive and March on ❤
It has to stop raining eventually doesn’t it? Well Iv been thinking that for a long time now! Hopefully some better months ahead , yes love spring
Great results and the ewes are looking well.
Thank you Alastair !
Good stuff
Thank you xx
Great scanning ,, nick was close in numbers 😅 Hard work ahead
Yeah I think we will be busy!
Looks like old Vlad still had it in him!
He did !! He kept busy old lad Vlad
Nice to have only one empty, so you are going to have a busy time with triplets and quads. Take care xx
Definitely they willl take up a fair bit of attention I imagine
Hi Joanna excellent video again thanks, great results from the scanning can't wait for the lambs bouncing about. The best time of the year when all the spring flowers 💐 come to life. I think with the weather as it's been there will be a very high percentage of farmers very worried about the winter crops, it's just always raining here in Lincolnshire at the moment. Thanks again take care and stay safe 👍 😊.
Hi Kelvin! Yes more rain , rain rain it never seems to let up!! Definitely love spring time so much!!
See those Rams have done their jobs & I really hope with all the feed you've purchased that the Lambs will be healthy & problem-free. Great to see you mentioning birds Song-Thrush & Skylarks & the Cloud Inversion so beautiful. Yes Nick's Man-Flu put the Baobab over his Oats drink the Moju & You definitely need the Protein Shakes come Lambing Season. I really missed you last few weeks & yes hopefully I'll get back to Meditating again too. I adore Dale Farm you are Mother Nature Joanna & Nick a man who edits & chooses his words doing a great job too Best Wishes xx
Hi David ! Ahh it’s good to be back, Iv made another video for Sunday as well? So watch this space !! Yes the skylarks are lovely and all the song birds !!
I had a cold after nick I felt poorly for 3 days but it didn’t slow me down too much x
Good video ,glad Nick is up and better,so you have the help needed top man Nick.O by the way we are looking to book a weekend on your camp site back end of this or next year,in a camper van,Hopefully.
Hi Elwyn, yes Nick had a cold and then I came down with it ! But okay now juus a sniffle it’s a lot colder today! But not raining so can’t complain. Been a very wet week
Joanna!! Little by little you are developing a traditional livestock farm with animals that live outdoors with lots of space... Relying on new technologies like the scanner!! Very good job and congratulations for your good management!!👌🏻💚
Thank you Daniel xx
You guys are lovely. Best wishes on lambing season. We always called are twins doubles ! Your mark is almost identical to my dads his was nearer the shoulders. God bless.
Thank you John! I think I remember you saying that about the mark before !
Yeah singles / doubles would also work as a good term to use !
Congratulations, and did I see Nick with long pants on 0MG. 😂
Yeah a rare occasion!
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO JOANNA , PLEASE STAY SAFE AND WELL , XXX . 🐑🐏
Thank you Ernest !
Great informative video...good luck and have a good spring...now have a cup and rest up !!! Take Care....and your Calendar you sent is great !! Jim & Sandy. Iowa USA
Hi guys. Yes we will need to be fighting fit for spring! Always love a cup of tea.
well done to both of you
Thank you james
Poor old Nick. Must still feeling crook as he had long trousers on. 😂
Hehe a rare occasion
Not a bad result 👍 not sure his you’d reduce the triplet number next year though 🤔🤷♂️. Think I’d mother a few of them onto the singles to save the feed bill😬. I noticed the morning chorus just starting this week and the rain has reduced! Wish I could say the same for the mud😆🤦♂️x
We have had a lot of rain here ! Yuck I would prefer less triplets but mules are notorious for multiple births !
Nick is a git er done guy!!
😊
💪💪
Someone as naturally beautiful as you doesn’t need makeup Joanna
That’s a very nice observation, sometimes it’s nice to do things that make you feel nice
A few pet lambs to feed 😂😂
Probably! Will try and do some adoptions!
I enjoyed the update Joanna. Hope Nick is feeling better, I noticed he was well wrapped up for the scanning which is unusual for that man. I had a bit of a bad do myself for a few weeks cold and shivering then a lot of coughing. You both look comfortable in your ridgeline. Can’t think of two better ambassadors for the line and if it didn’t do the job you would certainly say. All those cold wet mornings and enhanced feed , investment in good tips all help but still a cost which Joe Public does not always appreciate. Now look after Nick, get your nurses uniform on and bolas him once a week 😂😂
Hi 👋 well update after the video was filmed I started with a cold and spent a few days feeling a bit rubbish but it didn’t stop me from doing what needed to be done!
Colds and flu can be horrible things I hope you are feeling better now!! It’s always more severe for men than women of course too 😀
Women so much tougher what can I say. Hope you are both feeling well now. The ridgeline jackets look like the full length zip up ones and are you sporting the trousers as well? You really needed that gear over the winter and hopefully we will progress into warmer dryer spring just in time for the lambing season x.
Good video.
Thank you very much
Hi Joanna and Nick. Great time of the year because of all the expectations and good to see ya back. I'll ask the vicar later on if he knows any shaved cat jokes. Many smiles from down south 🌻🌻🌻
Hi Colin! I wonder if you have had all the awful rain this week that we have had! When will it end !!!
@@DaleFarm Hi Joanna. The past two days have been like being in the film 'Blade Runner' totally drenched through, grrrrr. However, spring isn't far away with all the flowers winking at us when we are out and about. It's within touching distance, Joanna, have an extra slice of cake with your cocoa later on :-))) Many smiles from down south. 🌻🌻🌻
Fantastic results, really pleased for u both, looking forward to lambing season, when does it start?
Thank you! Hopefully it will be a good season. around April 1st we start!
Great video Joanna that’s great results in the scanning 💪👌
Thank you Gary xx
Very good numbers really. Was it only 4 barren? Tups and ewes must have been in good condition. I remember a time before scanning when you had to wait and see and hope for the best. Thanks for the video. All the best 🇬🇧.
3 empty ewes, out of 93, not bad!
Yeah that would be a surprise
Great scam good husbandry always pays off ewes looking good Well done
Thank you very much 😀😀🥰🥰
Man flu , it’s those shorts to blame 🙂
😂 They're the reason I brushed it off so quickly 😂
Hehe nick is right! Didn’t keep him down for long !
Spring is still a month away.....
Spring will be here when it’s ready!
how many open ???? sounds like lambing time will be super busy hugssssss
What's this phrase mean Tammy? Like how many empty? 3 😊
3 empty Tammy xxx
What percentage does that work out for the flock 200%seems to be the perfect score.
Somewhere around 210 I think John
A bit over 200 yes !
What crops you grow in that soil and temperature
When is the wedding? Have you set a date yet?
No plans , we have something really big coming up to get over first x
First
Thanks !
Come on Jo,don't tease Nick by letting him talk on camera. Its not his thing.X.
He doesn’t mind doing a bit! I like to talk! 🤣
