  • The lack of drama is what drew me to want to watch the show more and more. Get rid of your writers get rid of the stupid jokes get rid of the drama. Car guys don't want to see drama they want to see cars being built they want to see the tips and tricks and techniques not the drama and the whining and the jokes

  • I had the pleasure of Meeting Dave at a car show in PA last summer. He was just as you would imagine. Very pleasant, engaging and an overall gentleman. I told him that what really drew me to the show other than the incredible cars was the lack of "drama" and the fact that they don't try and tell you they do a car in seven days, they keep it real. He told me that was what he wanted from the start. He said that the network, while trying to develop the show wanted him to do x amount of cars in an impossible amount of time. I cannot remember how many in how long but I remember he said that there was no way he would do that and that it was impossible with the type of quality he demands. If that was what they wanted he would not do the show. As we now know, the network relented and we have benefited.

  • I was soooo glad there wasn't the "drama" like that of other reality shows....OCC comes to mind. The cars and trucks that Dave and crew would produce were nothing short of JEWELERY!

      @jimmieroan9881@jimmieroan98813 ай бұрын
    • Believe it or not... probably 97% of car shops are drama-free zones. They really have to look hard to find characters like Boyd Coddington (RIP and no offense) and Paul "'Roid-Rage" Teutul Senior to "up" the drama factor. This is getting pretty obvious today because there are so many drama-free car/motorcycle shows. Foose may have been silly, but the lack of drama was great, but their attempts at making deadlines seem important was stupid. One time Foose's producers missed an edit and one of the people on the show said something like "we are just about at the end of week 3" when the build was supposed to be happening much more quickly than that, I forget if it was 1 or 2 weeks for that build. It's getting harder and harder for drama-queen owners to keep the doors open. With artificial drama being my #1 "hate" item re. car and motorcycle shows, my #2 "hate" is fake and unrealistic deadlines. Real businesses that are run that way year after year have either massive employee "churn" or they fail completely and go out of business.

Just last week I got my picture with him and Kev Dogg at the Mecum Auction in Florida. They attracted the largest crowd of anybody there. Both are super nice people. I wonder if the shows that have more “Drama” are more appealing to a wider audience, including women? I don’t have the ratings, but there must be some reason for all the goofy shows that have the phoney arguments and drama. I hate it, like most guys do. I like great design ideas, and watching real craftsmen at work. One complaint, Dave’s shop Manager, the “comedian” has ceased to be funny, years ago. JMHO.

I had an auto body repair shop for 35 years and the work is not that easy doing restorations. The collision work was not as bad except for timelines to please the insurance companies. You have to protect your body from so many hazards also. I am sitting here using oxygen because COPD caused partially from the sanding dust and painting, cigarettes and the 5 years in a coal mine. My knees are shot from working on concrete for so long also. You have to make good money to compensate. Dave is past all that since he has good employees to do the work. He has created such awesome stuff in his shop.

    • Agree, I would love to know what the customers end up paying for these masterpieces. That’s would put some reality into a reality tv show.

    • Funny you say that as I was thinking when I first started watching him years ago, I dreamed of getting him to improve a car of mine one day because he seemed to be on the edge of attainable for me. Now he has grown to where that sure has gone out the window.

  • I absolutely love Dave Kindig's creative vision and his flair for pushing car design way outside of the box, I can't believe he's in his 60's that blew my mind. Is he actually Michael J Fox's twin brother, remove the goatee and change the hair. Your estimate of $3 million is way too low, he now has his own car being the reimgined CS# carbon fiber bodied 63 Corvette that he has now built 10 of with many more orders to come.

  • The lack of BS drama is one of the reasons I love watching this show! It hasn't been corrupted with stupid drama. Listen producers.... We watch because of the cars... Not the drama- which is a crutch to a poor show. If you need drama then your show is probably crap anyway.

  • Why does a show have to have drama? It's about real craftsmen making some amazing cars, what's wrong with that?
