  • Bro I'm so glad I found this channel. I'm not an EDC hobby guy, more of a requirement for my Job. I just like to see what new products are out there, what people are using, and if maybe it's something I'd like to use as well. You keep it simple, to the point, realistic, don't push products etc. You ain't a pry bar influencer (that have no practical use, a multitool does all that) but someone who doesn't put themselves above other. Keep doing you man, God bless.

  • I’ve actually had people ask me why I carry a knife, lighter and flashlight. I’ve also had friends go camping with me and they don’t bring items mentioned. It’s crazy to think people would travel 3 hours from their home to go camping and not bring simple things I EDC.

    • There's something to be said about consistency-of-pockets as well. It's just a good habit lol Before I change/shower at night my pockets get emptied, in first in last out order, on the small table with my coffee maker. In the morning they go back in my pockets in reverse order as I'm making my travel mug up. I don't have ocd so I count on routines to make my day easier. 🤘🏼✌🏽

  • Agree with your list one thing id add. Being a father i suggest a bandana, not an over priced hank a cheap bandana bought usually from a dollar store. It works for sweat, snot, blood, grease, tie hair back (girl dad). Pretty much anything a kid can get into a cheap bandana will come in handy. As well as myself, im always working on something and need to wipe my hands off.

  • Excellent video. You mentioned carrying cash in the wallet...I also carry an emergency $100 bill in my iPhone case. It has saved me a few times. Being a firefighter, I always have at least 2 flashlights with me because "2 is 1 and 1 is none" meaning if one fails you have a backup. Redundancy is key in my line of work

  • I just started watching your channel, your advice is simple even for those who never served and had to survive (I am a disabled vet). Going to the watch, I lost my secondary watch in a dog fight 3 years ago on my farm in East Texas. It was a simple G-shock digital with a leather strap. Was digging up a small stump and found the watch still working after several floods and it being buried in mud. A good watch is often overlooked (the front glass can even be used to signal in sunlight), but they last and can even tell you time without pulling out a phone.

  • Flashlight is a must!!! Literally saved me from being towed and looking like a helpless fool with my wife recently doing a road repair under my car. Oh, and if it's hands free even better.

    @johnnymossville@johnnymossville4 ай бұрын
  • Excellent EDC list, I carry most of that on my person or in the car daily. Whenever I can, I find the smallest items I can find and keep them on my key ring. Example: Swiss Army Classic SD, Olight I1R-2, pill carrier for backup medication, Apple Air Tag. It's all on the keychain and weighs about 7 ounces . When I leave the house, most of my EDC tools are right there. In addition a 3" folding pocket knife. One thing I carry on the keychain, I've never seen anyone else EDC. That's a premium 500GB or 1TB flash drive that contains backups of all my important financial and personal information, even important work files. If the house burns down and the safe doesn't hold up, I want to be able to set up shop anywhere and keep my life moving along. Of course if you're going to do this, you need a drive with a secure vault on it and the files password protected, and even go a step further and Winzip those files and password protect that with a different password.

  • EDC flashlights are so underrated. Surprised how many dudes don't carry a light and rely on their phones. I mean, to each's own but I find that's one of the most common EDC items I use. I love the Olight Arkfeld's flat design, rechargeable so I don't hesitate to use it, and I love the UV and laser. Not everyone may have use for those but I use them at work all the time. The laser is super helpful for evaluating vision in animals as they will track the laser and the UV is better than many Wood's lamps for skin and eye exams. But having a nice bright (and adjustable) white light is so helpful for finding things in crevices, seeing detailed things that just require more light, fixing things, oops I stayed out later than I thought and now it's dark, power goes out, all that stuff. Keep a high quality folder in one front pocket and a light in the other nearly 100% of the time.

    @docwest114@docwest1144 ай бұрын
    • That's conflating 2 different scenarios. I've never once been in a situation where I was out grocery shopping, eating out, or whatever and needed a flashlight. Carrying one in my pocket is just absurd and paranoid to me. I have them around my house, in kit/bags, and in my truck. If I'm going hiking, hunting, etc, it's in the pack. Carrying one in my pocket? I see no need at all unless you commute a long way for work or your job specifically requires it.

      @Swearengen1980@Swearengen19804 ай бұрын
    • @@Swearengen1980…there is nothing paranoid about carrying something that helps you see in the dark or into dark spaces, especially when there are good lumens coming out of something that can be smaller than a tube of chapstick. I don’t panic if I don’t pocket one but it’s to easy to take along. I might not use it much but sure is nice to have when you want it.

      @jimshort9266@jimshort92664 ай бұрын
    • @@jimshort9266 But no one is referring to something the size of a tube of chapstick. Everyone features a light that is 3-4" long and definitely takes up considerable room in the pocket. EDC, on your person and not in a pouch/pack, a typical "tactical" flashlight is overkill for 99% of people. That's different situational need/potential need. Most of these people are just city slickers walking around town with a fucking flashlight.

      @Swearengen1980@Swearengen19804 ай бұрын
  • I think the way that you clarify that not everything on the list needs to be on your person, but rather in your vehicle or accessible makes me agree more.

  • Atta boy. Here we are a year later and let's see what changed for me in that time Knife: I generally prefer full size(3.5in) or larger and I'm a fan of crossbar locks Still the same choice I just have a few more options. Pen: I've settled on Zebra pens for mix of quality and lower price since I have had some stolen by coworkers currently use a modified Sarasa with an ultra fine tip ink barrel. I keep a stash of dollar store note pads around. My preferred pen is The Zebra F701 with an Ohto .3mm tip barrel Watch: I'd prefer a water resistant Timex expedition however I'm wearing a Samsung watch. Still the same Flashlight: this one I am all over the place I prefer a light with multiple modes and preferably a moonlight mode. I also prefer a clip I can attach to my hat (which is always part of my edc) for hands free operation. Then there's batteries or rechargeable with a battery option I can just drop in a new one and keep rolling if I drain a rechargeable then its out of action for however long it takes to recharge it. I still love a moonlight option and I have been liking the dual fuel thrower option that has popped up lately. Like the Weltool T1pro Multitool: currently I'm carrying a Leatherman surge that has served me well with it's 2 knife blades, scissors, pliers and bit kit. No change here yet Wallet and cash: I'm using a "ridge" like wallet to carry a few cards and a money clip for cash which I usually keep a 20 dollar bill or 2 just in case. Still the same Cordage: I keep some 550 and 1100 cord in my vehicle too. Still doing this too Lighter: This another undecided choice for me I carry and prefer a butane torch and I have a habit of buying value packs of Bic and/or Scripto (do you know the Scripto hack?) lighters that I keep a few in various jackets and in our vehicles. I like Bics for "just in case " it runs out of fuel I can still use the flint for a spark. Battery bank: much like you I have them all over the place too along with a charger cord or 2 for phones and flashlights. Unchanged Water bottle: I prefer steel water bottles because worse case I can boil said water for a variety of reasons such as purification, cooking, ect. This is still the same even though I switched to a Klean Kanteen Hat: Preferably a baseball style which has a bill stiff enough to support a small flashlight for hands free operation, provide shade for my eyes on sunny days, and as a handle to fan flames as I'm building a campfire which can happen often while I'm fishing throughout the year in Delaware. Still the same even though I have looked at a few boonie hats Gloves: I always have a pair or 2 of work gloves in my vehicles for duties such as collecting firewood, changing a tire during cold weather, and other tasks. Still adding these to the empire. This is my revised lineup. What do you think?

I always wear 5.11 jeans so I have extra pockets but don't like my pants being weighted down to expose by "Tactical underwear".....but I was laughing with you and don't really give a flying Fish what others say about our EDC choices and it is a very personal choice and ever evolving. • Great vid. I might add a bandana. Doesn’t need to be fancy, can be one you get from Walgreens for $1 (but 100% cotton, none of that poly nonsense). Clean up spills, wipe your face, blow your nose, rip it apart for a makeshift bandage, use it as an impromptu filtration mask in emergencies. A simple bandana is a super versatile piece of kit.

    • Agreed, also a makeshift potholder or container-bag. I got in the habit of carrying one overseas where the WCs didn't necessarily provide paper towels/hot air blowers to dry your hands. Also had a young lady tell me there is something a little more "finished"/classy about a guy with a handkerchief, so I'd recommend one of each (a smaller dedicated snot-rag, & a larger one guaranteed to be snot-free - this becomes an issue if you need it for a blindfold).

  • Pretty much all agreed. I think 1st aid is really important too. I can't tell you how many times I've been the hero because I had a few acetaminophen or ibuprofen or benadryl or bandaids and alcohol wipes on me. (I'm an emt, so I carry a lot more in a small kit with me in my bag) Not sure what I'd nix to keep with the 10 theme, though. Probably a pen. But depending on the multitool, a pen could be included. (Thinking SAK) Pen is useful more often, but nothing is better than being able to address someone bleeding or in pain imo.

  • I've only just started carrying a flashlight as an[primary] edc in the last 5 years and I've no idea how in my 50 years in this planet I never did before. Whether working or personal time on any given day I may use it more than wherever pocket knife on me. Also, I've not worn a watch, smart or otherwise, in decades but I've been looking into getting a couple analogs. Won't be wearing one at work often as my hands are usually in tight spaces and a watch could hang me up bad. No smart watch for me. Great list, bud.

Still to this day my stuff in that backpack evolves as i grow. A phone and a Tri Fold wallet working on the watch thing have an atomic solar / battery powered G shock watch, but looking at a Analog Orient watch. I like what you are talking about my friend need to get up on my paracord or I am looking at survival cord witch is really nice. Love the Flashlight that I carry use it more than my Knife that I carry. My Big knife on my pack is the Gerber LMF infantry and on the other side is a Leatherman Wave Plus. I think i have a pretty good start. I really liked the video God Bless my friend and have a good one.

  • 16:26 duuuude, the usb-C rechargeable AA battery is so good! I bought this flashlight (definitely because I needed it, not because I was caught up in influencer hype.. 👀) a year ago and I was pretty pleasantly surprised how good it was. That, plus the olight open pro (again, definitely a need and certainly not caught up in influencer hype 😬) and I can’t recommend that one as much for the price, but it is by far my most used flashlight. Fits perfect in the pencil holder looking section on my jacket’s chest pocket, and the light is on the clip so I have hands free light without sticking my other olight on my hat. It’s also the smoothest ballpoint pen I own, though it’s a little heavy/thick for taking notes in school

  • I am the daughter of a line of military men so this was what I was taught since I was a child. I do carry a larger multitool because I use it so frequently doing work on farms however. That emergency cash in my wallet has made a tow truck driver come, get me out of the ditch, and then he said he won't report anything if I am not making a claim on my insurance and we parted ways. I also always have a hankey as they are invaluable for runny noses to horse training. I assure you it has a use in my pocket.

  • I really enjoyed the video and totally agree with your message. I wear a WAZOO Cache Belt and it's able to let me carry, effortlessly, without thought, most of the items that you mentioned. My key chain has the rest. I've been carrying a Victorinox Swiss Champ for almost 50 years and I can't begin to count the number of times it saved me a long trip back to my tool cart as I worked for 42 years as an Industrial Maintenance Tech in a HUGE manufacturing plant. I like the way you phrased this thesis as "to get shit done" and not as an end of times zombie attack sort of scenario. I just can't imagine leaving the house without most of the gear you mentioned. My oldest and dearest friends frequently ask me, "OK, how many knives you carryin' today" or they'll say "I know you got at least 3 flashlights on ya, so can I borrow one for a minute?" and don't get me started on the ribbings I've taken over my SAKs over the years. My usual comeback is to hand them the tweezers and magnifying glass and tell them to go take a piss!

  • Another point to the lighter, you can use it to heat up a flathead screwdriver or a last resort, your knife tip. Had a piece of fender guard come off my car on the highway just dangling there, heat up the screwdriver, punched a hole through the guard and the plastic bumper and run a zip tie to hold it down.

  • Great video. I highly recommend adding that bandana. So many everyday and survival uses for something that takes up so little space… and it never looks out of place. Send that Leatherman Juice into the company… under warranty (which I. believe is 25 years), they will replace those scales and tune up the whole unit. I think you’ll pay shipping and be without it for a week or 2 but, it’s worth it.

  • If you grind down the tip of a knife blade, you can add a flat screwdriver to your pocket. Now, this will upset many "knife folks" but I figure some might appreciate it. I had one I got at a garage sale as a kid that someone had accidentally busted the tip off. I used it for slot screws and philips head screws. It also still cut as the blade was still a blade. It just didn't do a great job of stabbing...
