They're tantalizing, they're scrumptious and they're so easy to stock and so convenient to just grab and eat. Perfect foods? Not at all! They're more like the perfect storm to uproot your health and dump it far away from where we ideally want it to be in order to thrive.

  • I would have put loss of uncontrollable cravings at the top of the list because losing those cravings restored my ability to eat correctly. Great vid.

  • After a major health scare, I decided to cut out all crap and alcohol from my diet. After just 1 week I felt my energy levels skyrocket, I had better mental clarity and my workouts were a lot easter. I swear beetroot has been my saviour. I even crave avocados, bake my own bread and do you know what? Making your own meals is very satisfying and therapeutic.

  • I lost 60 pounds simply by cutting booze, deep fried food, processed snacks and fast food. I still ate relatively dirty stuff like enchiladas. Heck, I even shared homemade desserts like cobblers on special occasions. The big difference at the end of the day is if I want to eat it I have to make it.

  • Absolutely 100% correct. Lacey, if the average person went through their pantry/kitchen cupboards and fridges and threw out all the processed food they have, especially the highly processed they would have not much left to eat. 😀

  • If anyone is just starting out with a healthier diet and is worried about sugar cravings then you can add a few chunks of ripe mango or a couple of chopped dates to some of your recipes. You can cook with unsweetened coconut milk or add some sweet corns. This will help you to stay away from added sugar yet satisfy your sugar cravings.

Last night I fell off the wagon lol - while making Christmas cookies - I had one too many, along with some chips. This morning I have a slight headache and my body just feels yucky. There is so much truth to what you say and I am actually glad I did that last night so that I can see the affects of crappy eating! • So in terms of 8 and 9 they pretty much go together. I have always drank soda. Like my parents would put it in my bottle. I never drank water. So about 8 yrs ago I was getting a massage from a friend who knew that I didn't drink water after. She filled a quart jar with ice, water and a whole lemon and wouldn't let me leave until it was gone. Then filled it up for me to take with me. The next day I was amazed that I wasn't dealing with the typical pain after a massage. So I decided to drink more water and I just kept doing it. I got curious about how long I could go before I caved. I still drink water and it's my main drink. If I have a soda I think how did I do this? So here is what I learned. Our bodies will crave what it knows we will give it. So in the past I never craved water, because my body knew I wouldn't drink it. So if I was very dehydrated it screamed for soda. Now I rarely crave soda. I crave water.

  • We don't use sodas or ALOT OF fruit juice from the STORE... We are aghast at the amount of sodium in canned veg. Which I do keep a full pantry of, but when cooking I do not add salt or pepper until it hits your plate and that's up to the person eating... I feel there is way too many additives ... Msg and black pepper also trigger migraines.. I will NOT buy anything with MSG in it and avoid large amounts of BLACK pepper.. I have found if I need to use pepper for flavor I switched to white pepper and I only use about 1/2 as much for the same flavor. ..ive ALSO used sweet pickles when I've had the I gotta have something sweet craving in the middle of the night or day. ..... 1 small sweet pickle and the craving is satisfied and it's like no fat and the vinegar helps with burning the few calories the sugar the pickle had in it... Helped ME...

  • In high school I started having really intense bloating and eczema and decided to put my foot down and eat right with the help of my very insightful mom. Unfortunately my eczema didn’t go away but my bloating did. I ate right for a few years but ended up developing an intense sugar addiction that ended in me eating mostly hard candy and ice cream all day every day. This month I said enough is enough and I’m cracking my sugar addiction. It’s definitely hard but I’ve been successful and I noticed the cravings are slowly but surely getting better. In addition to all of it I’ve also been growing my own food and the taste of fresh picked greens, herbs, vegetables, and fruits is like nothing else. And whenever I get tempted and eat something overly processed I realize how little flavor it has and how much better fresh real food is. I wish my closest friends and family realized this too but I hope that one day they will.

    @Rhonda_Whitt@Rhonda_Whitt2 жыл бұрын
    • I think that is really depends on your body, beliefs and goals. Some people do extremely well with being vegan, and for others, it may be too restrictive. The main issue is how processed so much of our food is. If you stick to real, whole foods majority of the time, I think you will see major changes!

    • I was vegan for many years and did not eat any processed foods. I tried to eat whole foods and I ate tons of legumes for protein. I started to develop severe eczema, shingles on my torso and other unexplained rashes. After many years of trying to figure out what was wrong with me because no doctor could figure it out, I met two twin sisters who were extremely sick on a vegan diet. They went carnivore for a year to heal their bodies and lo and behold all their health conditions disappeared and their autoimmune diseases went into remission. At that point when I met them, I was so desperate and I was willing to try anything. And so I went carnivore for 6 months and all my rashes went away within 48 hours, my skin began to glow, and all my food allergies went away as well. My husband who had developed pain on his joints and neck also found complete healing from the carnivore diet. I could never advocate the vegan diet because of how sick I was for many years. I’m also not encouraging a carnivore diet forever, but I would for a certain period of time to heal the body. We need animal protein and fat. The animal protein has amino acids that could never be found in legumes and leafy greens. It doesn’t matter how much of it you eat. Also, protein is the building blocks for everything in your body. I have never ever again had eczema once I started to eat grassfed meat and other animal proteins as well. Hope this is helpful. ❤

  • The most important reason to quit fast food, processed foods is that you'll have a stroke or heart attack and survive it. That outcome will leave you disabled and a burden on others. If we could abuse our bodies with this toxic food and just die from a massive stroke, then maybe that would be okay. But ERs are very good at bringing us back from the ledge. So, not worth the risk for me.

  • I’ve started trying to avoid “processed” foods like anything that has Lake dyes, caramel coloring (it’s astounding how many things have caramel coloring! Like some coffees, soy sauces, “healthy” cookies, etc). It’s insane how much junk and how many carcinogens are in foods in the US (be on the lookout for secret bug powders too 😖)

    • Yes. Its only bad tho if you eat loades daily. If you eat a piece toaste with sardines or avacodo on couple times per week its not too bad. Stick to 80 percent fresh food and 20 percent other food and you will feel fine.

  • Unfortunately, dairy is carcinogenic so not a good thing to consume. Meat, fish and eggs are also problematic so eating less of these would be beneficial. They are high in cholesterol, high in fat, pharmaceutical antibiotics, added hormones and micro plastics.

  • Would be nice if you got your terminology right. There is nothing wrong with processed food - frozen vegetables, yoghurt, pickles are all processed foods. But you mostly talk about ultra-processed foods, and yet mention the name only once.

    • She alludes to *minimally* processed foods as being ok (btw, yogurt is more processed with sugar and preservatives). It should have been clear to you the difference. It's a shame all you got out of the video is the opportunity to talk semantics and nit-pick.🙄
