Lyrics:
I walked through the door with you
The air was cold
But somethin bout it felt like home somehow
And I left my scarf there at your sister’s house
And you’ve still got it in your drawer even now
Oh your sweet disposition, and my wide eyed gaze
We’re singing in the car getting lost upstate
Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place
And I can picture it after all these days
And I know it’s long gone and that magic’s not here no more
And I might be ok but I’m not fine at all…
Cause there we are again on that
Little town street
You almost ran the red
Cause you were looking over at me
Wind in my hair, I was there
I remember it all too well
Photo album on the counter
Your cheeks were turning red
You used to be a little kid with glasses
in a twin-sized bed
And your mother’s telling stories bout you on
the tee ball team
You taught me bout your past
Thinkin your future was me
And you were tossing me the car keys
‘F*** the patriarchy’ keychain on the ground
We were always skipping town
And I was thinking on the drive down
Any time now, he’s gonna say it’s love
You never called it what it was
til we were dead and gone and buried
Check the pulse and come back
Swearing it’s the same, after 3 months in the grave
And then you wondered where it went to
As I reached for you but
All I felt was shame
And you held my lifeless frame
And I know it’s long gone and
There was nothing else I could do
And I forget about you long enough
To forget why I needed to…
Cause there we are again in the middle of the night
We’re dancin round the kitchen in the
refrigerator light
Down the stairs, I was there
I remember it all too well…
And there we are again
When nobody had to know
You kept me like a secret
But I kept you like an oath
Sacred prayer and we’d swear
to remember it all too well
Well maybe we got lost in translation
Maybe I asked for too much
But maybe this thing was a masterpiece
Til you tore it all up
Running scared, I was there
I remember it all too well
And you call me up again
Just to break me like a promise
So casually cruel in the name of being honest
I’m a crumpled up piece of paper lying here
Cause I remember it all, all, all
They say all’s well that ends well
But I’m in a new hell every time
You double-cross my mind
You said if we had been closer in age
Maybe it would have been fine
And that made me want to die.
The idea you had of me
Who was she?
A never-needy, ever lovely jewel
Whose shine reflects on you
Not weeping in a party bathroom
Some actress asking me what happened
You.
That’s what happened: You.
You, who charmed my dad with self-effacing jokes
Sipping coffee like you were on a late night show
But then he watched me watch the front door
all night, willing you to come
And he said, “it’s supposed to be fun…
Turning 21”
Time won’t fly
It’s like I’m paralyzed by it
I’d like to be my old self again
But I’m still trying to find it
After plaid shirt days
And nights when you made me your own
Now you mail back my things
And I walk home alone
But you keep my old scarf
From that very first week
Cause it reminds you of innocence, and it smells like me
You can’t get rid of it
Cause you remember it all too well
Cause there we are again when
I loved you so
Back before you lost the one real thing
You’ve ever known
It was rare, I was there
I remember it all too well
Wind in my hair, you were there
You remember it all
Down the stairs, you were there
You remember it all
It was rare, I was there
I remember it all too well
And I was never good at telling jokes
But the punchline goes:
“I’ll get older, but your lovers stay my age”
From when your Brooklyn broke my skin and bones
I’m a soldier who’s returning half her weight
And did the twin flame bruise paint you blue?
Just between us, did the love affair maim you too?
Cause in this city’s barren cold
I still remember the first fall of snow
And how it glistened as it fell
I remember it all too well
Just between us did the love affair maim you
All too well
Just between us, do you remember it
All too well
Just between us, I remember it all too well
Wind in my hair
I was there, I was there
Down the stairs, I was there
I was there
Sacred prayer
I was there, I was there
It was rare, you remember it
All too well

This is the song that made a 48 year old man like me a Swiftie, especially the last 2-3 minutes part of the song. It is a poetically brilliantly-penned, well-composed and melodically-mesmerizing song to listen to on any occassion. She is 1 in A Million!
She's the one and only in 8 billion

"so casually cruel in the name of being honest" - this line absolutely guts me. It's a perfect descriptor of the way my spouse of many years discarded me for someone else, pretending that he'd finally 'found his truth.' He was running scared...I was there...I remember it all too well
Unrelated to this song, but from Taylor's Mine "Brace myself for the goodbye, because it's all I've ever known" hits me HARD as a child of divorce.
My spouse used almost these exact lines after 25 years.
When the original Red album came out over a decade ago, I was going through a painful breakup, and it really spoke to me and got me through. That ex and I eventually got back together, and got married. After 7 and a half years of marriage, and his countless affairs and betrayals, we just got divorced in September. I knew I would never be healed of this pain; but I thought I was doing fine and holding it together. But within minutes of listening to this song, it pulled out the darkest of grief and heartbreak from deep within me, in such an unexpected way. I dropped to my knees and sobbed with my whole body and soul. It just flowed out of me like the waters finally breaking over a dam. This song has allowed me to truly and fully mourn and grieve my loss. I keep listening to it, and I keep letting that grief out, and releasing that pain from my soul. Taylor helped me through that breakup all those years ago, and she’s helping me through the ultimate breakup now. She’s helping us all to process, grieve, and heal. It’s therapy. But, most of all, this song is a monumental gift to humanity. And she is a treasure beyond words. Thank you, Taylor. Thank you. Thank you.
Hang in there. Eventually something will take it away or smooth it out. If not, time will. ❤️
Time will heal all ur wounds and I'm sure u gonna find ur own little new "love story" 😌

I am just discovering TS and I am truly blown away. 68 years old and listening to her makes me feel the emotions of a much younger man. I grew up in the generation of Don McClean "American Pie". A really long song and famous for its notoriety and how it dominated the airwaves for one particular summer of days gone by. And her is this amazing 1o minute composition filled with emotions, longing, young love (of someone much older) disbelief, confusion, shattered, broken and it is longer than American Pie. Rolling Stones made mention of this and how Taylor Swift is a very serious and accomplished artist, who owns the rights to her own music. Bravo Taylor Swift. Not embarrassed to say I have listened to it many times, since I saw the recent Rolling Story about All Too Well!
I used to kinda like her when she sang country back in the day. I got roped back in after she released Folklore and Evermore last year.
I can relate to that !!!
Fun fact: Don McClean congratulated Taylor for breaking American Pie's record as the longest No.1 song on BB 100
Im so glad older generations enjoy Taylor Swift as much as we do. Thank you for sharing this sir :)

Somehow, “All Too Well” was able to deliver ten minutes of pure magic without losing any power. Thanks to the upbeat tempo and beautiful imagery of the past, it’s no longer sung from the perspective of the disappointed 21 year old who was left waiting at her birthday party- it’s from a woman who is confident enough to share her diary with us in way that makes you feel she’s singing your own story. I am 63 years old and from the first time I heard "All Too Well" it took me right back to a relationship I had when I was 29, 30, 31. Each time I hear it (and I always have to play it twice) I am that 29, 30, 31 y/o again. Now hearing Taylors version, this 10 minute song I am remain deeply moved & impressed. It touches me on so many levels that it is hard to describe. I can not wait to see the short film Taylor produced, wrote and directed. The first time I heard this song was when Taylor sang it at the Grammy awards and immediately I was struck by it. IT IS A CLASSIC. I'm a boomer and when I was coming up artists were creating songs on so many different levels/genres all over the spectrum. "All Too Well" is on the order of Carole King, Carly Simon, Simon & Garfunkel, Leonard Cohen, etc., classics all (damn right ok boomer). The memory of love never fades. Thank you, Taylor @/welldone

I hope this wonderful blond woman knows how much I love her and that I’ve been with her since I was channel surfing because I couldn’t find the remote and paused when I saw her sitting on a porch in a blue dress singing about riding shotgun. Feels incredible knowing that we’ve grown together and she sang me through every heartbreak, sang me into finding true love, and now knowing we’ve both found peace and have healed together. There’s nothing like it.

Although I am such a Swiftie always have been always will be
Just so glad I got out of this kind of experience when I had a relationship with this person who is 8 yrs older than me like more than 4 yrs ago. I ended it after realizing my worth since it traumatized me. Now, I am glad that I am no longer feeling any pain. I can say now that I have finally healed from that trauma and proud that I have moved on from it. I am now in a very happy relationship with whom I can call my soulmate and whom I love soo much genuinely as much as he loves me; I don't even have to try so hard, and he adores my weirdness and quirks as much as I adore him. He is for me "The One". For those going through heartbreaks and pain, you will eventually heal and come back stronger and happier. It may take weeks, months, and years, but you will. Just take time to love yourself and be with people who were always been there for you (family, friends). Eventually, when you least expect it, someone will come into your life and will be the best love of your life. Hugs

"So casually cruel in the name of being honest" has always struck me as such a beautifully and tragically accurate statement. I adore that lyric. It applies to so many things - it's universal.
I broke up with a girl in my 20’s because she was very religious and I wasn’t at all. I couldn’t see a future and kids together. I remember coming to that conclusion and breaking it off with her (after several years together) just so casually and matter of fact. I was trying to be honest but it came off casual and cruel.
@@jamesfleming1155 the unfortunate truth is that honesty can be causal cruelty. I think it comes down to your approach. Empathy is the key, but if you no longer love someone and you think you're better off apart is it worth pretending to be broken hearted about it? People usually grieve the relationship in the process of deciding to end it. So by the time they ARE ending it, they've already accepted it.
And the line directly before this one..."And you call me up again just to break me like a promise" is 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Just 3 of you? C'mon
41 years old man and not shy to say I adore this song, simply amazinggg
"All Too Well" made history as the longest number one song on Billboard's Hot 100 list... Ahhhhh I'm so proud I got to witness this masterpiece breaking records 😭😭💕💕
This song most definitely deserves all the attention and hype it has.
@@grimace147 Totally 😍😍
Same Caroline! I proudly call myself a Swiftie!
I’m the 13th like!! @anvindr LOL
Fr omg
And to think she wasn't planning on putting this on red because she felt it was too personal and that no one would like it. It is now her most beloved song to fans. I Love you Taylor Swift forever. ❤️
@Jack Wrath why don’t you focus on making content for your channel instead of hating on people
I'm NOBODY
My music is better than Taylor
@@robinskull No one cares
@Jack Wrath Your entire account is boring as well, but no one says anything. You should try it 🥰 it’s called being polite 🤭
I cry about "He watched me watch the front door all night, willing you to come and he said >it's supposed to be fun, turning 21
i listen to this song on loop while i’m on the bus on the way back home EVERYDAY and i don’t get tired of it. The ending destroys me everytime and “i’m a soldier who’s returning half her weight”
ih gua juga di transjakarta wkwk
"i'll get older but your lovers stay my age" leonardo dicaprio is shaking!!!
THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT WHEN I FIRST LISTENED TO IT LMAO
@Jack Wrath you are *Ridiculous.*
@Jack Wrath Stay under the rock where you belong.
can u explain this? i dont think i understand this part but it hits me tho
@@nadyahtg3678 Jake blamed their age difference for the reason he ended their relationship but kept dating much younger women.
No, because how can she not shed a single tear while recording/singing this when I've had countless of tear drops already when I'm just a listener.
Because she’s over Jake and happy with her new boo 😝 they say that when you can talk about something traumatic without crying, you’ve finally moved on from it.
She is a soldier.
Cause this song dont hurt her anymore
I agree that she is over Jake and happy now, but i think at 7:20 she got really emotional
Because she is over him and has a very happy and loving relationship with Joe for 5 years now i believe ❤️
I am gonna turn 21 this October, thsi songs assures me it's okay for it to not be a big deal. There's always 22
THE MOST INCREDIBLE SONG
Its been a month when this 10 minutes version released but it still feel like yesterday and I can’t get over with it.
Same and that made me interested with longer songs (10/15 minute) in this generation
HOLY SHIT A MONTH
Same!! I'm still obsessing over this!!
WHAT DO YOU MEAN A MONTH?
I listen to it at least 2-3 times a week still lol
Its length may show 10 minutes and 13 seconds but it felt like a normal length song when you listen to it, I don't know what magic this is but Taylor's talent is beyond human's capabilities.
so truee
It's just like that.
Wow you are so right. I didn't even process that it felt like a normal length until I read this comment 😅
Can't stop listening to it💖😭💖😭💖😭💖😭💖😭💖😭💖
The usual feeling for a progressive rock fan. To Swifters this is amazing. To progressive rock fans, is also amazing, but an everyday thing since the 1970s. Welcome to the club.
I love the line "you were talking about your past thinking your future was me." 😭😭
Thank you 😊
"And he said it's supposed to be fun..turning 21" My best part ❤
This 10 minutes version unleashed hidden pages in this story. It's too specific but yet, universal. We all remember it too well too, Taylor.
I can understand why she didn’t release some particular lyrics until now. They punch me in the gut over & over again, imagine how hard it would’ve been for her. To be bruised again & again by the one you believed to be your twin flame, the one you perceived as someone who thought you two would spend the future together. The way this song moved everyone back then, and still fills everyone’s eyes up, even now, even though many of us have spent the past 8 years listening to it every day. Taylor, your art will always be my ‘always’.
@Jack Wrath Literally no one cares
Who is the guy she talking about in this song?

What an amazing songwriter. I got chills listening to this song. So emotional. She has a rare gift.
True
I know now, why she is so popular. This is a timeless masterpiece which tugs at the heart strings. She's brilliant. ♥️
Imagine being gaslighted enough to write a 10 minutes song (or maybe the original lyrics were more) just to remind yourself that you are not crazy, it's not all in your head, you remember what happened to you, and you "remember it all too well". I love you, Blondie.
Imagine being so obsessed you write a 10 minute song over a 3 month relationship
@@lissa4750 well if you can sum 3 months up in a 10 minutes song, you are talented, not obsessed.
everyone blames her and calls her crazy for being hurt, but never blame the one that hurt her.
@@imjustbored2867 exactly, the heartbreak of the song is not obsession, she just knows her way with words and that's something so admirable, i think we all have have heartbreak and pain in our life but the difference is taylor uses music to express it.
@@naylee2813 like it's her story, she is free to tell it. And she never sugar-coats anything, if she's the bad guy, she will admit it... Just like getaway car
It's impossible not to get addicted to this, been listening MULTIPLE TIMES EVERYDAY since the release, I'm ADDICTED. Thank you Taylor❤
same here, I'm addicted
Me too
for real, same
Same here l
IM ADDICTED TOO
this is the best song ever
I will never go back to that person who tear my heart. This song says it all.
I’m convinced this is the BEST song ever made.
oh it definitely is, i'm blown away by how amazing it is, and it still feels unreal.
Yes, into this song she put her most personal feelings 😔, she'll probably remember the pain even in the future years of her carrers like an open scar. Thanks Taylor
YES ! it is.
Well i'm pretty sure of that
🧣
This isn’t just a song. It’s a masterpiece you get to experience.
We won't tear it all up 😭
Masterpiece? Girl.....must be a gymnast with all that stretching you’re doing
The best ten minutes of my day...
if the world ends in 10 minutes, this is the only right song to play
I understand why the original version came out the way it did. It was a more put together, tight storytelling. catchy and gut wrenching. Here she really gave us the whole story like reading her actual diary. Got I love this, that she did that for us. Us swifties are so lucky to have her and that she cares about us so much
This is exactly how I feel too. I will appreciate both of the versions for different reasons. Both are wonderful in their own ways.
Yes the original was very fitting and packed nicely and this is more like suiting an mv? Which she's giving
I feel the opposite lol. The original version was tattooed on my mind, but this 10 mins version makes me re-edit this song in my mind, I just feel like this version is overly-detailed. But I still appreciate them both ❤️ although the original was more powerful vocally.
She only wants your money lol just kidding. She's the best!!
do you really believe she wrote the ten minute version for you , A Swiftie ? She did it for two main reasons - 1- she is re recording all of her catalogue to break free from the company that owns the rights to the original music , part of that entails alter and or adding new lyrics and 2- she probably had some additional insights about her relationship that prompted the song . be careful with adoration , it can result in a trap of unconscious bias resulting in poor decision making
the first tear finally slid down my cheek when the lyrics were "And he said, “it’s supposed to be fun… Turning 21” 😢
Why what happened
@@manhwamaniac3525 i think its in response to The Moment I Knew
Omg same
😅😢😢
Joan Baez, Taylor Swift, Carole King, Tracy Chapman…in no particular order…are all excellent songwriters ❤
I love them all but come one Taylor swift first...😊
It's april 2024 do u still listen to this? Hit like if you do.
❤❤ im here i love Taylor Swift this song too WOW beautiful
It's April 2024 and I'm listening to this for the first time. I've never been a fan of her voice, but her words and her spirit and her passion, her work ethic, her humanity, and her ability to turn every negative thing that happens into a glimmering mountain of gold are beyond amazing. I've realized that you can dislike her voice and still be a swiftie.
Taylor is a creative genius. The biggest thing that separates her from most artists is she LOVES and LIVES for what she does. What an inspiration.
and that is the mark of a true artist ❤Also hi! I sang a cover of "All Too Well", check it out?
ik, is like so fullfilling to listen to her music, is so rich
I mean I agree with the genius part but I'm pretty sure almost every artist loves n lives their craft apart from the mumble rappers today
Most of us know this story well because we’ve lived it…when taylor sings about it, It’s almost as if she was right there with me when it was happening.. 💔
How come a 10 minute song will never be boring? 🥰
🥺
Funny
the magic of Miss Swift ( or Mrs. Swift )
