On Thursday, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky said his government is aware of Russian plans for future operations in Ukraine and indicated that they were working to counter Moscow's moves. Maj. Gen. James "Spider" Marks (Ret.) joins CNN's Wolf Blitzer to discuss the opportunities of Ukraine's renewed offensive as they expect the delivery of western tanks. #CNN #News
So great to see Mr Kinzinger imparting his intelligent observations to us.
If news media is predicting where the next Ukraine offensive will take place, you can be very sure that it is not where the next Ukraine offensive will take place. 😉
Or it would ?
Double bluff!
D'uh are you part of the russian secret service ???????????????????????????????
This war has taught us if something seems reasonable Ukraine has a better way of doing it
This war has barely began, we are yet to see the might of the combined Russian Forces ---the Ukrainians have been extensively utilizing the Asov and foreign regiments and the Russians have been utilizing the Wagner auxiliary forces, either way---the war is finally here, now that German panzers have once again to attempt to breakdown Russian defensive lines.... In the meantime, there is NO HOPE for negotiated peace, until Ukraine exorcizes its desire for a conventional battle or two, against the murderous kremlin autocracy.....
And SPAIN 53 tanks THAKYOU xxxxx
Hopefully soon the Kremlin Gremlin's inner circle will show him an amazing view out of a very, very tall window

Well you can toss that idea right out the window (no pun intended) as it never will happen

You do know he already rid himself of many inner circle people that he thought were not loyal to him.
@@huntergatherer7796 The only chance would be for a few low level generals to hold a "briefing" or some other kind of meeting and coordinate some form of take down. I say low level because I feel like they might be more inclined to visit the frontlines and see their troops massacred pointlessly. Regardless, it's a long shot.
Thank you, USA 🇺🇸🙏🏻

I think even though talking Crimea will be tough, geographically it be will be easier than taking the Luhansk and Donbass because the latter have a border with Russia. Crimea has that weak link, the bridge
The land bridge is no longer weak, Russia has built defence fortifications

@@Tobi-oy6um Its just an opinion dude, what, you want no one to say anything military strategy related in youtube comments? Plus if you're not a general how do you know if he is or isn't? What he's saying is correct, Russian forces (on the western side) can be isolated more easily if the land bridge is broken. I have heard largely the same comment by actual military experts.
When Ukraine eventually takes just some of northern Crimea, they can get in "HIMARS range" of that bridge, and at that point, the bridge becomes toast.

It needs to be repeated that there are several important factors that are leading to the long and slow evolution of growing readiness to provide greater military support: 1. At first they were afraid that Ukraine wouldn't hold out, so why provide weapons that will be wasted or captured by the enemy (like in Afghanistan). 2. As the Russians kept escalating and more evidence of war crimes and then genocide came out, the need to do more was recognized 3. The fact that the Ukrainians have been good at not striking at Russian civilian sites, and have been responsible with the arms provided, results in confidence that more can be safely offered.
You know nothing but pretend to be knowledgeable. You focus your attention on mindless banter.
@@patrickmcphee770 Your "contribution" to the debate has been noted. I would suggest that generals, including retired generals, are not noted for their "mindless banter". Don't you hate when you reply to a comment, then that comment disappears, and now your own response sits there, referring to nothing. Sigh, oh well.
Can you tell me what genocide is taking place? I'm all on Ukrainian side but false accusations lead to nothing more than dilution of proper and important terms. Genocide has its meaning, and it's not taking place in Ukraine.
@@dreizdreiz9203 Yes. Afghanistan is a huge tragedy. There were problems from the beginning of the invasion (which did have some legitimate aims), but that fell apart, and with the invasion of Iraq (which was based on a lie). Afghanistan was soon doomed. Yet for many years money and lives were sacrificed there. There were many good people among the Afghans (teachers, doctors, lawyers, nurses), but the ones who got out most easily were those who were in the army or government and made connections. Some of these had good intentions, many did not (joining for the power and influence or just for the military training and supplies). Many of these were the people who already had connections to tribal military/political gangs and who knew how to keep power as the tides changed. Funny how you never know how past mistakes will haunt you in the future. Now is the opportunity to make some corrections. Too bad Russia is so slow to learn from its past mistakes. Let's hope their opportunity will quickly approach.

Adam Kinzinger will always be a very Honorable person in my mind regardless of his future occupation or career. RS. Canada
From the US, I agree.
I think Ukrainian are smart people, see how they learn to use M-777 and HIMARS quickly, so they will do the same for Patriot and Abrams. In normal situation, training will take 3 months but crunch time will do in 3 weeks plus, after trained, still they could be "coaching" remotely via video sharing, similar to what Russian did with SAM during Vietnam war to NVA air defense, no one knew even if they operated together back then. I hope the tanks will be in battles fronts in few weeks, not months.
6-12 months meanwhile Russia will have more Than enough time to come up with a counteroffensive 😂
3 weeks no way
Are these tanks the M1A2 or the older versions??
M1A2.
@@Getman0001 Yes, but probably with some features not included, such the depleted uranium mesh that is embedded within the armor panels of the latest made models (as well as in updated armor panels on many older M1 tanks. From what I understand these tanks are more of a long term commitment to Ukrainian security, rather than a solution for any upcoming spring offensive, as the ones supplied are still being manufactured from scratch, not ones already in the US inventory. In the short term, Leopard’s are far more suitable from a logistical point of view, since the M1 requires copious mounts of jetful for its turbine engine, while the Leopard run on good old diesel, and there are plenty of nearby countries with repair and maintenance facilities the Ukrainians can draw upon. 20 years ago, the US would have had facilities to maintain M1 tanks in Germany, but the last US tanks were withdrawn from that country in 2003.
@@fordhouse8b i think theyre from US storages
@@Getman0001 I looked it up, and you are partially right. They are not from US military stores, but directly from General Dynamics Land Systems. The company no longer build any M1s 'from scratch’ but have a number of what is describes as “seed vehicles,” already made, which are completed to the particular desired specification once an order has come in. Exactly how much of the parts make up one of these “seed vehicles” is unclear to me, but apparently they take a fairly long time to complete, long enough that delivery is not going to happen for some time.

That's not so. Russia and German tanks far superior. They were designed with this theatre in mind.
It's hard to see an effectiveness for massed tank units in this battle space. The supply column will be very long, slow and visible. They can probably survive and achieve more with mobile infantry vehicles backed up by motorized large bore artillery firing from 25-35 kms from the front lines. The Bradleys, Strikers, Marders, BMTs are probably what's going to count if the tactics are good. Perhaps a few tanks thrown in here and there for local specific support of dismounted troops. For a 25km-wide breakthrough you'd probably need 250 mobile artillery (155, 102, etc) and 250 IFV upfront, maybe 50 tanks at the outset. So maybe 40,000 troops, with 1 rotation of another 40,000, and 15,000 replacemets to sustain a month of fighting, with another 40,000 logistics support within 5-50 km from the front lines. So that's something in the order of 150,000 troops concentrated on a 25 km front -- which will widen to 35km after 10 km advance, and 45km after 20 km advance. It's a huge enterprise to keep all this combined large guns, mobile infantry moving forward, rotating, covering flanks, and being supplied. Effectively, after an advance of 50 km these troops will be defending the perimeter of three sides of a square measuring 150 km. That's a huge area. Then you can probably throw tanks forward if fixed resistance is crumbling.
Ok general
Did you already win this battle in your mom's basement with plastic soldiers?
Doing that with no air support and with against a force with more artillery over open ground with extremely difficult logistics and weather, though any attack like this will need to be in spring or late spring.
unbelievable what your own country is willing to do for Ukraine instead of their own.
this is stupid. they are still sanctioning ? why not fully sanction from the start ? and ukraine is getting decimated. Either help them fully or get out of the way. At least there would be something left like infrastructure and energy.

In Ukraine I'm usually spot on.
How do you believe media when it's a one side story
My guess is that not "it took a while for them to find out that Ukraine needs this stuff", but that they long ago decided Ukraine needs *all* the different stuff for combined warfare (planes, tanks, artillery, armoured vehicles, etc), and will get them all when the Ukrainian forces have finished training on all components. The Ukrainians have been training on F-16's for 8 months now, so I think we'll very soon see F-16's in addition to the new tanks, artillery systems etc. They'll get it all at once to really pack a punch.

Training and logistic support will be critical. If the roll out of these weapons in Ukraine is unsuccessful (ie, Russians win against them), Putin will not be stymied, he will be emboldened and the Chinese may be drawn closer to supporting Russia in the effort as well as N Koreans and Iran. A lot at stake with this new escalation of equipment. I also worry if it may be a bit late to the field, especially if Putin launches an offensive in next month (which I think he will). The overall situation looks as if Russians bombing Ukrainians back into the stone age, which will eventually be effective if Ukraine cannot achieve tactical advantage in next 3-6 months. Very critical period in next 3 months for ultimate outcome and potential for Ukrainian defeat.
That's one unlikely scenario.
No way he can prevail against a better armed and trained Ukraine. There will be blood but Russia is within months torn apart. Crimea must be taken.
China will do little, no advantage for Nth Korea in helping other than selling some faulty weapons, Putin will press hard now, doing all he can before tanks arrive, I believe. It’ll be a tough period to hang in for the good guys. They’ll do it with despicable civilian death, however. We’ll all feel better end of spring, early summer.
What will happen is that an Abrams or two will fall into Russian hands and that baby will be on a train to China where it will be reverse engineered.
