If I was forced to be food, I'd hope my captor would feed me to something like a T-Rex or a hippo and not a bunch of house cats. • The myth: "piranha can strip a cow down to bones in minutes." The reality: "it takes them days to eat a small fish."

    @bluedistortions@bluedistortionsАй бұрын
    • Hi there! I find your mention of your 'myth' quit interesting to think. That such an event could potentially happen, certain conditions need to be met. If, by chance, a cow accidentally ended up in a river where a large group of piranhas numbering in the hundreds or it can up to thousands was present, there's a possibility they could strip it down. However, it's worth noting that the "minutes" timeframe might be exaggerated. The size of the cow and how the piranhas interact with it would affect the actual duration. Let's assume that the cow has an average surface area of 10 square meters (for simplicity), and each piranha can bite and remove a small patch of skin measuring 1 square centimeter in a single bite. To cover the entire surface area of the cow. we would need 10,000 patches of skin to be bitten off (10 square meters = 10,000 square centimeters). for each piranha can remove one patch of skin per bite, we would need 10,000 piranhas biting simultaneously to completely strip the cow's skin. Thanks for the comment and happy watching! ❤

    • Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns about the video. I appreciate your perspective on animal welfare, and I'd like to take a moment to explain the purpose behind my video. The video is intended for educational purposes to showcase the natural feeding behavior of piranhas. It's important to note that the feeding scenarios in the video are designed to replicate the natural feeding habits of piranhas in their native habitats. While it might seem unfair or cruel to some viewers, it's important to understand that in the wild, piranhas are predatory fish and they rely on hunting and feeding on fish and other prey. This behavior is a crucial part of their natural ecosystem. No matter you see it in a tank or the river, still they using an instinct following their natural response about seeing prey, and also if you were asking in the nature catfish has a chance to losing away, then we got nothing to learn. As a responsible content creator, I prioritize the well-being of the animals involved. The catfish used in the video was bred and raised for this purpose and consumption.

  • Personally, I don't enjoy watching a fish getting eaten that has no chance. If you'd have created some caves for the catfish to hide in perhaps it would have been more fair as the Catfish would have hid in them and would come out at night to feed. I once had 4 piranhas in a 100 gallon tank that grew to be quite large. I used to buy a hundred feeder goldfish at a time and dump them in. They would get eaten in one bite and their scale would fall like snow as they were swallowed up. I always felt sorry for them. At least their death was quick. My teenage stepsons enjoyed watching them get eaten much like you. They pissed me off when one day I came home from work and caught them feeding my Angelfish to them. It is not that I mind one fish eating another. I just prefer to create a habitat where there actually is a fair chance. Goldfish actually are very intelligent and I found that out of 100 there were always 2 or three that learned to avoid the pirana and would actually start to grow bigger. I would always take them out and grant them citizenship in another aquarium as they had survived the Roman arena. I had the whole center of my hundred-gallon tank piled up with coral, rocks, and driftwood so that there were hundreds of crevasses and caves for hiding places and I turned loose some convict fish in the Pirana tank, They are very territorial cave dwellers and would actually come out of their caves and attack the piranas from behind and swim back into their caves quickly and usually escape the piranas but not always. It wasn't long before every crevice and cave was full of baby convicts of varying sizes and they had so many babies that there was a constant food source for both the piranas and the convicts. It was survival of the fittest but at least they had a fare chance and the interaction was incredibly interesting to watch. I had some very big common Plecostomus in the tank also and the pirana never bothered them as they are heavily armored.

  • Yeah now that is absolutely not humane should not make the catfish suffer when you yourself is in charge, psychopathic behaviour. Its not the biggest difference to feed already unalived fish and so on. The whole idea of captivated animals is cruel and still very much needed for education and in this case own pleasure 🤷‍♀️

    • @@VenomEnorm Bro most of what piranha eat in the wild are carcasses, crustaceans, insects, small fish and occasional fruit. It's rare they ever consume live prey items, that's actually a huge myth propagated primarily by media. This is blatant cruelty for views, under the guise of "enrichment" or "naturalistic behaviour.". If you're going to be responsible about keeping exotics and feeding live, then make it as painless as you can for the feeder animal. Just because they're meant for food, doesn't mean they can't feel pain and deserve to suffer for it.
