  • My mother taught me to make cobbler. She used to talk about “cup, cup, cup” for her recipe. A cup of flour, cup sugar, cup of milk and a stick of butter. Thank you Paula for bringing back wonderful memories of time with my mother❤️

    • Cindy Stutts, I am so sick of the big seeds in the blackberries these days. My aunt and uncle had blackberries near their property and they were plentiful and weren't full of big seeds that you couldn't chew and that stuck in between your teeth. It's about genetic modification of our food. I am going to stick with blueberries, pitted cherries, strawberries and pumpkin pie filling for my pies and cobblers. I want to try your mom's recipe very soon, when I run out of leftover peach cobbler. Stay well.

  • Hi Paula, Thank you soooo much for being on KZhead! The past 14 years I have learned a great deal from you. I'm from Nevada, but my mom and my aunt (both have passed away) cooked similar to the way to you do, I was taught early on to cook and to bake. For 40 years I have baked breads and biscuits (I do prefer your biscuit recipe over my family's recipe), my son had lived in the south for a bit, at the time he thought there would be a big difference in the way he grew up and the southern way, he called me and said "Mom! are you sure you weren't from the south? because you raised me southern style." It made my heart happy. During this time of our Nation's crisis, home cooking brings such comfort to those around us. Thank you for being an encouragement and a reminder to continue making "best dishes." I love this Cobbler Recipe!

  • One of my favorite things in the entire world is peach pie. Every year for many years, my wife would make a peach pie for my birthday. But she died two years ago, and I'm no good a making pies (unfortunately). But last year, I got a bunch or fresh peaches and I knew I couldn't eat all of them before they went bad. So what to do with all those peaches? Well, I have one of your cookbooks, and the recipe for peach cobbler is just about what was on your show today. So I tried making a peach cobbler for my birthday, using the fresh peaches and your recipe. I have to tell you that it came out perfectly. It didn't even run over the edge of the pan, and it was one of the best things I had all last year. Your recipe is fantastic.

  • I have made peach cobbler every way under the sun in order to find the recipe my husband use to enjoy from his grandma. When he was four years old, his momma passed away in a car accident and so he had to go live with the relatives until his father was able to provide the nurturing and time for a youngster. During that time, his grandma made the best food as he could remember having. Since that time, he can not remember his mother, (perhaps because of the trauma of losing her so young) but he CAN remember this particular peach cobbler. Ms Paula, I finally found it!!! It is what you call Lady and Son's Peach Cobbler!!! He just about cried when he tasted it that it scared me at the time. It represents everything a mother should be when served on the warm side with a smidgen of half and half over the top. I used the canned peaches, but see that I need to try the frozen peaches, too. While he still can't remember her, he does remember the emptiness was filled with peach cobbler that week that she was gone, but not just any peach cobbler: it has to be the cobbler that tastes like 'comfort' and love.

I made it yesterday with Georgia peaches; only this time three of my four family members are gluten free. It turned out great with the gluten free flour blend I used! Just the way it did 12 years ago with regular wheat flour!! Both states have amazing peaches!
