  • I've tried the Aeron Classic, and as much as I absolutely loved that chair, I could not for the life me get rid of the pressure points behind my knee where the pad is. It cut off circulation within 5 minutes of any position I sat. Truly heartbreaking since I had my eyes on it for a couple years. Since then, I've moved over to Steelcase. My Amia has to be the best chair I've ever had. It flips the Aeron philosophy on it's head; the chair fits you, instead of you fitting the chair. In terms of the waterfall seat flexibility, live lumbar flexibility etc. It's much easier to live with one of these Steelcase chairs IMO. That all being said, this Karman embodies (pun indented) the perfect version of the Aeron for me. Can't wait to see more about this chair in the future.

    • This describes exactly my personal experience with the Aeron chair - it clips me behind the legs and cuts off my circulation. I am not experiencing the same thing as I am testing the new Karman, which is awesome! I've sat in it for a few days straight with zero circulation issues or pressure points behind the legs. -DC

  • I got a Karman a few days ago, so far I am really loving it. My prior chair was a Mirra 2 which I liked and gave up for reasons unrelated to comfort. The only negative to the Karman is the seat depth, I am 6'1 and 220 pounds and I feel like I could use a little more thigh support. I am a fidgety sitter always changing positions, and I feel the Mirra is rigid and wanted me to sit a certain way and stay that way which I didn't really like. The Karman is very accommodating to different positions and moving around. I also like that it's simple and doesn't have a lot of doo dads and adjustments to fiddle with. I use the 20% boost recline setting. I'm still in the return period but so far I'm keeping it.

  • My biggest questions would be the heat dissipation/breathability with a hybrid mesh/cushion combo. Moreover, I'm curious to know how the mesh will stand up to the test of time

  • Ive been using this chair for about a week of full day use now and while I absolutely love the back. The seat has not been as comfortable to me, I usually end up pretty sore and excited to get out of the chair after an extended period. Did you notice anything similar with the seat or see improvements over an extended time?

  • I don't know why no one ever talks about breathability. To me that's the main benefit of mesh. My arse gets too hot sitting in any cushioned chairs for hours at a time, especially in the summer. I have an electric ventilated pad on both my home office chair and work office chair (Both have cushioned seats) to combat the heat. Without it my arse and the back of my legs sweat. I'm considering trying a mesh chair instead of having to use the ventilated pad.

  • Please compare this to the amia. I am mostly curious about the back of the knee area since the bottom does not adjust. I know the front of the amia is extremely flexible and it has the adjustment to relieve pressure on the back of your knees. Is the lumbar adequate?

    @oarproductions@oarproductions Жыл бұрын
    • We will absolutely do a video comparing this to the Amia at some point, but to answer your questions: There's definitely some flex on the Karman seat, but it's a bit different than the Amia waterfall with a padded seat. It's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison, as they sit quite differently, but I find the Karman seat very comfortable and flexible in my limited testing so far. As for the back, I find the lumbar very adequate for me, but again, it's different - it's more of a hugging the back kind of feeling, but provides great support through the lower back especially. -DC

  • Wondering what's the difference between opaque and normal mesh version and if the opaque is thicker or more layered. mesh. According the their FAQ the opaque "was created with a single layer of mesh with additional filaments".

    @ulaulalaulaulala@ulaulalaulaulala Жыл бұрын
    • Great question - our chair did not come with the Opaque mesh, so I have not seen that in person, but I will hopefully get my hands on one soon to be able to answer this and compare the mesh options.

  • does this have up down tilt on the sides/give/wobble on the seat like the gesture? (where it's tilting around the center piston)

    @wontonnoodle1510@wontonnoodle1510 Жыл бұрын
    • It definitely has a ton of give and flex in the seat in all directions, but is quite different than how the Gesture works. The entire seat plan flexes and moves on the Karman, where the Gesture seat has some flex, it's a completely different sitting experience. -DC

      @CrandallOfficeFurniture@CrandallOfficeFurniture Жыл бұрын
    • @@CrandallOfficeFurniture Thanks yeah it looks interesting and looks designed to flex, whereas on the gesture it seems like a defect where it's wobbling where the seat meets the piston which is annoying. so the karman doesnt seem to have this issue?

  • I just received an HM Embody and I'm not sure if it's a right fit for me because I like to move on my chair and not keep the same position, I also think it's not the most comfortable chair. If I value comfort, ability to sit in multiple position and to recline back, would you recommend the Karman for me? Also, is it easy to stay in a recline position on the Karman or does it ''force'' you back up? Good video, thanks !

    • This really depends on your personal preference. I have been sitting in the Karman for a couple months now and LOVE IT! Probably the most comfortable chair i've sat in. I am around comfortable chairs all day and i still choose the Karman.

  • the front seat seems a bit narrow compared to like leap, and more similar to Aeron. Wondering if this could be an issue for those who like to seat cross-legged

    @ulaulalaulaulala@ulaulalaulaulala Жыл бұрын
    • Like most mesh chairs, this probably is not going to be the best option for people who prefer to sit cross-legged. I sit with one leg crossed under the other pretty frequently, and while the Karman is not as good as my Gesture, it's worlds better than the Aeron in that department; the Aeron's hard frame hits me right on my ankle bone and I can't sit this way at all in the Aeron chair - in the Karman I can get away with it a bit, though it's definitely still not the best chair option for this specific use case.

  • How are the armrests attached? I'm wondering if they can be removed in case I don't like them (or, conversely, added after the fact if I decide I want them). I normally don't use armrests, but sometimes they're nice to have, and unfortunately they can't be folded away.

    @jc3drums916@jc3drums9166 ай бұрын

      @CrandallOfficeFurniture@CrandallOfficeFurniture Жыл бұрын
  • I've been waiting for this chair ever since it was first announced. I did not find the Aeron comfortable because of the curved edges that prevented me to sit in different ways, the mesh however was top notch. I did not expect this Karman chair to also include a seat cushion underneath the mesh seat. Does this chair suffer from heat build up? It kind of makes me doubt if it will have that cool airflow during the hot summers😅.

    @Zwimpy88@Zwimpy88 Жыл бұрын
    • Great question - I have been sitting in it for about a week now and have not noticed any heat issues - it definitely sits cooler than a standard padded seat chair so far, but will likely sit a touch warmer than something like an Aeron that is only mesh. -DC

    @ulaulalaulaulala@ulaulalaulaulala Жыл бұрын
    • Could definitely be tough to clean, it does have some sort of covering over it - I should look into what that is, and what kind of protection it provides from accumulating dust and debris - I will report back! :) -DC

  • Do you think it would be comfortable without the arm rests? Debating on saving money by not getting it (I don't have armrests on my current chair). But with the more flexible/adjustable seat I'm wondering if you'd get off balance without the armrests.

    @christianchoy3030@christianchoy303011 ай бұрын
    • Great question! i'm currently sitting in the Karman and the amount of sturdiness is feel while being in the chair is remarkable for the light weight feeling the chair has. I don't know if it would be more comfortable but I don't believe it would be less comfortable. I like arm rests when working but that's a personal preference. If you were to buy it and try it and not like it Steelcase does have their 30 day return policy.

    • @@CrandallOfficeFurniture Thanks for responding. And sorry I meant how study does it feel without armrests. Like if you took your arms off of the armrests and tried to adjust your seating position, do you feel like it would tip over or feel off balance?

    @xboxgamerz22@xboxgamerz22 Жыл бұрын
    • If you can find a Gesture for $300, that's a heck of a deal on a wonderful chair - tough to justify the price difference for almost any chair if you can find a Gesture at that price. That said, I think the Karman is priced pretty well for what it provides, especially if comparing to something like the Aeron or other higher end chairs. -DC

  • Can you estimate the shortest height user the Karman can accommodate?

    @jackboxer7537@jackboxer7537 Жыл бұрын
    • Seat height from the floor is listed at 15.875″ to 20.375″, which is right in line with most of the other chairs from Steelcase (Leap, Amia, Gesture, etc...). I can't give you an exact height, but I know we've had many happy customers that are around 5'0" in this seat height - that said, everyone is built differently, so it may be worth testing something to figure out what height seat works best for you. -DC

  • How does it handle sitting cross legged/pretzeled in this chair?

    @dawnraynor1093@dawnraynor1093 Жыл бұрын
    • Great question - I sit pretty frequently with one leg tucked under the other (which I know is not good), and so far it has handled that much better than the Aeron (the softer frame doesn't make my want to rip my leg off immediately like the Aeron's hard seat frame), though it's still not the chair I would pick if you sit cross legged frequently - something like a Gesture or Embody, or other padded seat chair would likely be a much better option in that scenario. -DC

    @zuga-3938@zuga-3938 Жыл бұрын
    • I think it's made this way because if you are sitting ergonomically, more weight should be located in that area, so it provides some additional room for compression there. It's noticeable when you are not in the chair, but once you sit down, the support feels pretty consistent from front to back. -DC
