RECIPE FOR GERMAN MULLED WINE:
1 bottle of red wine
1 orange (if you can, get an organic one; if that’s not possible make sure to remove the skin)
2 cinnamon sticks
3-4 star anise
3 cloves
½ teaspoon of mixed spice
2-3 teaspoons sugar (you can also use honey)
Let everything simmer until the sugar has dissolved. It will be ready after about 10 minutes. If you prefer it more spicy, just leave it a bit longer. Enjoy!

What a charming kitchen! I love how the hob is positioned at a slanted wall, and the little patio outside is divine. The trend here in the US is for kitchens of high design but they are also so cookie-cutter: cream-color cabinets, granite or quartz countertops, etc. I much prefer a unique kitchen like yours.
So glad you like it, thanks so much! Yes, the same in Germany. People tend to get white (very modern and cool) looking kitchens that almost look dead. We simply can't do it. We always prefer a traditional (timeless style) and some colour. And we always wanted an English country kitchen :)
So agree US home interiors all look alike, all grey white and cold plain kitchens. Just love the country cottage look 🥰

I have that cookbook too because Downton Abbey is my favourite series as well. We get it in Canada and I have watched it and the movies more than several times. The people, clothing, the beautiful rooms, jewelry it has it all.

Someone mentions Vienna in the comments. I lived there for a short while. Truly beautiful. Viennese homes/apartments seemed so draw dropping gorgeous at the time. The park was breathtaking, the theatre magical. I didn't want to come home and shed lots of tears. One of the most memorable times in my early career years. How I loved this video. First I was mesmerized by the top of the dresser you were filming in front of Kirsten. The musical paper chain was so charming plus the Santa card and lighting, exceptional. The gifts were perfect, especially the steamer. And thank you, Joerg, for the Mulled wine recipe. I fell in love with Gluhwein in Zurich and then again in Basil, so much so that bought a bottle here in the U.S. and it wasn't very good. Now I'll make your version for the cooler nights in Phoenix this holiday season.
Those are great gift ideas. Your kitchen is beautiful! I absolutely LOVE the colors. It looks so cozy. Here in Chicago, we have the Christkindlemarket that just started on Friday. It's set up to look like a little village in Germany and there is always a huge line for mulled wine. They have the most beautiful things for sale from vendors that come all the way from Germany, Austria and the Ukraine every year. I buy gorgeous hand blown glass ornaments there.

About the gift ideas, I love the fact that you always give advice on unusual and very classy items, oh and I definitely have to get that steamer for myself, I've been thinking about it for quite a while as I stopped ironing years ago, I hate it now (used to love it in the past though), and a steamer like that will save my life big time! I agree! I bought a little steamer this year, and I threw away my iron. My nephew, who is 29, emailed me and said he wanted the Downton Abbey cookbook. I particularly like the floor- tiles and the cupboards, I bought a 1930s wall- clock and an art deco kettle in that shade of green for my new kitchen because I love that colour. I love your vintage chairs, and I love the shape of your kitchen, the dining and working area is very cosy. I will have to use Joerg's recipe for mulled wine. Best Wishes.

Our kitchen chairs aren't actually vintage, we got them from Laura Ashley 2 years ago but they are such classics that they will never go out of style. Kirsten I ended up decorating very country, I have a big sleigh 🛷 coffee table, an old 1920’s freezer box where they used to put big cubes of ice in the top, an old 1920’s dental cabinet where they used to put all the teeth lol! Anything old that has a story! My friend was throwing out an old 1880 oak table that seats 12 because of that we turned two little bedrooms into the dining room & our house is very tiny so I made it into a cozy pub. Also have a houser baking station with the old tin drawers for flour it’s just so cool! That’s why I love your KZhead so much! It makes me feel calm & warm! Thank you both very much for this! Oh how I enjoy your videos! You two are darling together. The kitchen colors are magnificent!!! My Mom painted our kitchen pink one year, waaaay back in the day, I'd guess around 1970 and it was stunning. Your shade reminds me of that. In fact, I had forgotten that almost all together. Wow! Love your kitchen! So pretty! Thanks so much for the gluhwein recipe! I lived in Germany (Wiesbaden) from ‘84 to ‘89 when I served in the US Air Force. One of my favorite memories is being at the Christmas markets and having gluhwein. So tasty and very warming while walking around in the winter weather! Much love to you both! ❤️ ❤️
