When I was a teen I was riding my horse in the mountains near my home. A Mountain Lion charged and tried to attack my horse and I. My Siberian Husky attacked the Lion saving me and my horse. My dog lost her leg in the fight. She lived many years eating steak. She was a hero. I owe my life to her. ❤ Sauki was her name.
My Siberian husky "Sheba" was the most loyal dog I have ever had. I had her for 12 years. She is missed every day
I had a German Shepherd for only three months, during the eighties, the man who own her before me beat the hell out of her for no reason. To the point that she was quicked she had a broken leg and the bastard never took her to the doctor. They kept her out side. I was in a bad marriage. When I got her I was the only one who ever gave her any love. I would kiss her and tell her that she was special, she was a German Shepherd. I had her for only three weeks when my soon to be x drew his fist to hit me for no reason. Kelly Girl my baby went after him she was scared that she would get a beating. I hug her and kissed her and said good girl. My soon to be x started sleeping in the other bedroom. A month later I Notice that Kelly Girl was breathing strange. I took her to the doctor and he called me later saying that she had heart worm s and he wanted 2000.00$ to treat her and he didn't or could garantee if she would live. He said because her leg was broken the GS organization would not treat her. He said he was put her down. When I think of her it breaks my heart. I was the only one who ever gave her any love. If I had my time to do over I gotten her and left my husband. Oh God I miss her so much. I want another GS. I will always remember her

I had a Rottweiler mix dog. So I was walking and suddenly these dogs started attacking me, but my dog came and started nipping at those dogs. He sacrificed himself for my safety. I have a crippled hand and a crippled leg, I could’ve died that day. But my boy Stetson came along to distract them, he passed away that same day due to the fight. I’m still heartbroken about it, and I’m very grateful for what he’s done for me. My little warrior❤️

I had a Rottweiler called Denzel boy who was so brave and protecting and everlasting love for my family. He passed away on 2nd April 2020. We are still not able to forget him. Let his soul rest in peace.
I am SOOOO pleased that Akita made #1. They are fearless and extremely protective. Nikki and I were hiking up in the Sierras when we came across a bear on the hiking trail as we rounded a bend. Did she blow it by barking? Nope. (That's another thing; they're very quiet). She politely stood still and stared at the bear, never showing an oz. of fear. The bear let us pass. Akitas love little children, everyone should know, and they're exceptionally smart. Nikki wouldn't fetch, though. She was way too dignified to play ball.

When I was 10 I was attacked by a dog, the attack already started before my doberman ran out the house and tried to break me free. I have some scars on my face and arms, but my doberman Storm does too. Everything would’ve been so much worse without him ❤️

Doberman is my favorite breed. My Doberman "Daisy" only lived 5 months before she succumbed to hereditary kidney disease. She didn't die protecting me but she was absolutely fearless facing death. Always happy and active until her eyes closed forever. She handled it better than me. Miss her

Yeah that couldn’t be more untrue. Not that they won’t love you very much, dogs can be very intelligent and know a dangerous situation when it happens. Some will stand with you and others will flee and expect you to protect them. They also have the fight or flight mentality. I am surprised not to see chow or Bull Mastiff on the list. They may not be in the top 10.

I have a rescued male black GSD that has saved me from being attacked. He is fearless and does not hesitate to react to bad situations. I can go anywhere and be safe as long as my boy is with me. He does give warnings first which gives people a chance to second think their intentions. You have to think quickly though, he doesn't have a lot of patience, lol. Most people get pretty scared and make the right decision and back off.
When I was a little boy and all the way through high school we always had St. Bernard’s and I thought that they would forever be my favorite dogs. But about 10 years ago my youngest daughter brought home a Great Pyrenees puppy that someone gave her and I was hooked. My wife and I now have 4 of them and they are not only excellent guard dogs of our many different types of livestock but the most loving and loyal dogs I’ve ever been around. They are definitely part of the family and a great joy to have around

@TheDoonzman There is always fear in a human. No matter how tough they think they might be, there is always fear. With a dog you dont get that. The dog knows that it loves you and wants to protect you. Thats not the only things that go on with a human.
@TheDoonzman Aside from the firearm. Dogs can do everything you listed. I have not been in the military. I am from a Spec Ops family. My knowledge comes from stories they tell and things ive seen personally with my dog. I also was not talking about an active combat situation nor combat veterans. A working dog is far more effective than the average person you would find on the street. You wouldnt have clicked this video if you dont see some truth in what I said. Thank you for your service!

I will always remember this guy, it was seen on tv (nyc) His house was on fire and his dog was trapped inside. Firefighters was just standing outside unable to do anything. But he come back to house from work begging firefighters to let him go inside to rescue his dog. They wouldn't. So my hero grabbed (wrestle) big ask from firefighter ,run inside the house and after some time (like eternity) trow big black dog through the window and jump himself out. It was lackilly only second floor.

I adopted a 1-2yr old Rottweiler from a shelter. He had been abused and starved. He was rescued in the raid of a drug house. It's believed they were "training" him to be mean. Shortly after I adopted him I found out I was pregnant. I had concerns mostly that he would step on the baby. He loved my baby as if it were his own. Kept her out of trouble and extremely gentle with her. He was however always on guard for his family. Never vicious. He knew when to guard and did so in imposing way. He would put on a very serious face and stance and come close to me either beside or directly in front of me. No growling or attacking. But he made damn sure to let the other person know they were NOT coming close to his family. The rest of the time he was a goofy lovable giant with everyone including strangers. He could sense when he needed to be on guard. And shielded me from bad people. Love and miss Zeus always.
I grew up with the Akita,AKC confirmation.. My 5 children grew up with the Akita also, now my grandsugars are.. They are loyal to a fault and love their families, especially their children.. Can't imagine our family without our Akitas..💞

Akitas are very intelligent and very stubborn . Train early as a 6 month old . Females are easier to train but they are tough none the less .
I've had one male,and one female Akita.The female was really really easy to train. She was clean as a cat, and potty trained within two weeks. I started training her around 12 weeks.Very easy, and got along with others well. The only thing to avoid is taking,or letting another pet mess with her food bowl.Plus don't let children pull or ruff house the dog especially strangers.The male was much more stubborn, and didn't like strangers in the house, or other pets. If another dog bit my dog which happend only twice it would be almost impossible to stop it from trashing that dog. Otherwise their tolerant and playful if not disrespected. Very confident,and loyal,at 110lbs. So it helps if you're consistent,and stern when needed.

German Shepherd,Akita, German Rottweiler and Bull Mastiff to name a few are all guard and attack dogs by hereditary nature!! I only speak from first hand experience of dogs I've owned and had to pull off of people who have asked to be mauled by my dogs!! None of which were trained to do so!! Just the other day my Shepherd put a Cane Corso in his place for attempting to dominate. He was the same age as my dog!! So there's no excuse for his submission to my dog!! Some dogs regardless of the breed need to be taught and some don't... To each his own!!! It's not the size of the dog in the fight,It's the size of the fight in the dog!!! Bay Area mentality, and mutha fuckn' reality!!!!!! No if, ands or butts, about it!!!!

I once had two 120-pound Rhodesian Ridgebacks Fearless breed
I have 2 75lb female Ridgebacks. They are super protective. One is 21 months old and the other is only 9 months old. She's going to be bigger than the older one. My 2 girls will alert us whenever someone comes to the door, or even when another dog walks by the house. My older girl, Lulu, whenever we are walking is always on the alert. Lola is younger and more plodding along, but Lulu will swivel her head back and forth just keeping an eye out. We were away a few weeks ago and were out for a morning walk and a guy came out of his house and was walking along the other side of the street. She kept looking back and over at him. We crossed over to the side he was on, but ahead of him and she kept watching. Every step we took she kept looking back at him. He actually turned down the way we were going and she let out a little growl, until I told her it was Ok. He didn't hear her because he was too far away. But she is always aware of her surroundings.
Yes the females are smaller. But they are lightning quick. They are the Manny Pacquiao's of the dog world. Unbelievable to watch in real time! So so fast, and a real nasty disposition when pushed too far...
My 3 children were playing in the back yard when a man came into the fence with them. Our ridgeback jumped through the window to get to them. As far as I'm concerned, the rhodesian ridgeback will always be our family's guard dog.

I have been a Rottweiler owner for over 30 years. Best friends I have ever had. My kids and now grandchildren have grown up with them. Dangerous, yea right. They are big babies who love their family. People need training more then the dog.

I have an 11 month old long coat gsd and about 10 minutes ago there was what looked like a homeless man knocking at my door and he barked so loud with so much power it scared me. He was even snarling and scratching a the door with his hair standing up on his back. So the fact that German shepherd is number 6 is absolutely comical like you said

My Rottie protected me from a drunk guy who tried to enter my home. He was a friend of my husband. I didn't realize he was a threat until I answered the door. I told him to leave. . He was pushing in the door , we both heard my rottie behind me.. His low belly growl startled both of us. He stopped pushing on the door long enough for me to shut the door... That was the first time I'd heard him growl. I will forever be grateful to my boy for protecting me. He was a wonderful, loving big baby. , But He did his job when he knew I was in danger. I love my boy unconditionally and will always love him.
I love my sister's Pomeranian. Ever vigilant and a door-bell. He is not big but super intelligent and a fighter. He once even engaged with a German Shepard sensing aggression towards my sister. Thankfully the other dog's owner was also nearby, and both the dogs emerged unharmed.

Surprisely i didn't see the Cane Corso. They have a velcro disposition like the Doberman. They bond extremely close with their owners and will protect u. Their courage is unmatched.

My Akita at night will sleep where she can see my grandmas bedroom door the side door and front door all at the same time just guarding the whole house while you sleep. Hands down one of the best dogs I've ever had super loyal and always on duty.
