It's so important for every Volleyball player to know how to set as sometimes the setter plays defense so who else is going to set the ball? Olympian Volleyball Player for Team USA Rachael Adams will show you the hand positioning, some drills to improve your setting and common mistakes you want to avoid.

    • You have to know how to do all the skills when you play volleyball. That’s why sometimes setters spike etc

    • in volleyball u need to know all skills, yes the right side is usually for setters but anyone on court has to know how to set in any scenario, that’s why setters call for help sometimes so anyone else can set. I’m guessing this lady used to set a lot too bc middle helps out, and I’m a middle blocker so ik that.

    • guys, everyone learns everything in volleyball, we have rotations so setters do become a blocker eventually. I’m a middle blocker and my best friend is a setter and we did rotations so I saw her block most of the time.

    • I would expect an Olympic level setter could block, spike, and pass better than most volleyball players. If you're watching this video to actually learn how to set, you're not at a level where you can be picky and should take every bit of info from an elite athlete who has been around the game most of their life(regardless of position/specialty).

    • @@elisemansour6269 Only on certain rotation types though. Most professional teams have a certain rotation type that they use to make sure that the setter is the person who most commonly sets.

  • This year I will not be playing indoor I'm going to play beach! And I need to learn to be a better setter since there are only 2 people on the court. And in club I'm always a Libero or DS . So I was never a setter. Thank you for this video!!!!

    • As someone who regularly plays both, they are so wildly different. Even the rule sets are different in terms of receiving touches. It makes transitioning between them a bit difficult sometimes, especially since I usually play beach all summer then transition to indoor/court for winter/spring. Indoor/court is where it's at for me though.

  • Note for those actually looking at her hands when shes showing hand positioning. The thumb and index finger should have the same distance apart. Not like shown in the video where the thumbs are close to each other but index fingers spread far away
