  • Great video with a lot of insightful topics! One thing you didn't quite discuss was the question of what both of your opinions are on the best budget laptop. I'm looking to buy one under 1000 euros (I'm from Germany), maybe a little higher if there's a banger deal available. Any suggestions?

    • Yes. If you are able to upgrade ram yourself it's defenitely the Aorus 15 from my side which is only 999 in Germany and has an rtx 4060. Making it our cheapest 4060 laptop. And additional 8gb Ram are cheap right now! If not, you could get a LOQ 15 by Lenovo for 1049 with an 4050 or for 1150 with a 4060. I don't recommend The gigabyte G5 or the MSI Thin! But the Gigabyte G5 is undeniable cheap. Even in Germany. Starting at 700€ while beeing a dissapointing laptop overall in terms of build quality, speakers, Gpu wattage etc...

  • Hi, i am looking to buy my first gaming laptop, mostly for work since I'm a Graphic Designer but also for gaming, but my budget is pretty tight. Would buying a 3050 6GB laptop be worth it for long term (4-6 years)?

    @shiv5801@shiv58015 ай бұрын
    • Well budget is important. If it's small, you have that much options I guess. If it's mostly for work as a graphic designer I would say a 3050 6gb should be okay for a while yes. Depending on what you do and how you work a decent monitor can be important, but in my personal opinion for most designed its not THAT important to have like 100% color coverage... It helps, but you can be professional without it. Depending on what you do.

    • @@Hubwood Thanks for the reply. I currently work on my old dell laptop, which has a Radeon 520 2GB GPU, i5-8th gen and 16 gigs of RAM. Software like photoshop and illustrator run fine for basic editing and design stuff, but I am leaning towards learning 3D design. For gaming, I really haven't played any AA or AAA titles from 2013 onwards cuz my laptop can't handle them, I guess I still have a huge game list that needs to be played 😅. Don't really get much time to play bcoz of work.

  • I wish you guys talked about the elephant in the room no one seems to talk about. Obviously(including Jarrod's testing) higher core count\better specifications lead to better energy efficiency. And yet Nvidia cuts them down in 3000 and especially 4000 series. In fact making them *less* power efficient than their desktop counterpart. Limit desktop 4070 to 100 watts and it would still outperform the laptop version, simply due to having more cores. And it would absolutely destroy the 4070m in games that need more than 8GB of vRAM, as seen in Jarrod's power scaling graph in his 4070m vs 4080m comparison. The laptop 4080 needs just 65 watts to match the 100 watt 4070. Which in fact proves that Nvidia isn't cutting laptop GPUs down "because they can't cool bigger chips", but because they want to mislead their consumer and get as much money as possible while investing as little as possible. And the worst thing is like I said - nobody talks about it for whatever reason. The 4070M 100w power limit explanation also doesn't make any sense. If that were true, ALL laptop GPUs would be limited to 100w, but why do we have 175w 4080M and 4090M. Are they saying they don't care about those 2 GPUs' longevity? Why last generation 3070 and especially 3070 ti laptops reached 140 and 150w respectively and most laptops are just fine with cooling those? I'd really like to hear Nvidia's explanation to all this. Thanks for the video!

    @TabalugaDragon@TabalugaDragon5 ай бұрын
    • Well that's an interesting point, and we could have talked about this and much more (but the video is long as it is 😅). Though im pretty sure that 4080 and 4090 laptops with that high wattage get better cooling systems in general, while he also mentions the weirdness of 4090s beeing built into 14" slim gaming laptops... But at the end of the day I'm sure NVIDIAs "wish" of making money does have an impact on everything we see. Yes. Especially on laptops they can behave like they want due to the lack of a real competition by AMD or let alone Intel.

      @Hubwood@Hubwood5 ай бұрын
    • @@Hubwood well, same laptops, like Legion 5 pro cooled 150w 3070 ti, and now even those, with superior cooling systems are limited to 100 watts now with a 4070m. Those users who really care about longevity would either run laptops in balance mode(which keep GPUs at around 100w mark) or would undervolt them, or both. Nobody really needs this artificial 100w limit if that's exactly what gaming laptops' power modes are for where you press a couple keys and switch to any power mode you like.

  • Scummy Nvidia with their voltage limit. Greed has limit

    @ThepursuitofHappiness-fb8iy@ThepursuitofHappiness-fb8iy5 ай бұрын
    • yep. That explanation was ridiculous. Following their logic, they don't care about last gen 3070 and 3070 ti laptops and especially this gen's 4080 and "4090" laptops' longevity. If a laptop can't cool beyond 100 watts that's what limit the laptop manufacturer would set. Not ALL manufacturers would limit it to 100w.

    • @@ThepursuitofHappiness-fb8iy let me disagree with you there, 4080m and 4090m are pretty big improvements even without DLSS, but they cost too much as mid range options(like desktop 4070) aren't a thing on laptops.
