One aspect about the Beretta 1301 that I love is it's deceptively small size. When many people first see a 1301, they initially think it's an SBS (Short Barreled Shotgun) because it looks so short. Beretta has managed to make the barrel on the 1301 look shorter then it actually is. Add this to it's light weight and features, and you've got an Awesome shotgun.
INtro song name?
The reason the 1301 "looks" shorter when compared to other shotguns is it's shorter LOP, not any type of "smoke and mirrors" magic on the visual aspect of the barrel.
@@kwb377 well and also the much longer foregrip/rail that covers that barrel, the m4 has a very short LOP also however doesn't get confused as a SBS compared to the beretta
It looks like it has a shorter receiver than most shotguns, which probably helps. If you ever see an 18 inch double or single barrel, they look almost *too* short. But that's just because they have very short receivers which lends themselves to a short overall length.

After watching several videos on tactical shotguns in my pre purchase research it was this excellent video that convinced me the Beretta 1301 was the gun for me. I purchased one two weeks ago taking time to set it up with red dot, light, sling and ammo cards I finally got it to the range today and this gun is an absolute Beast ran 100% with 5 different types of ammo it was the most fun I have had in a long time. Thanks for this great video review!
The BLink action has been around for awhile, actually. I’ve used a beretta a40 for duck hunting-the a400 is the second iteration of the BLink I think- and I’ve dropped it in the mud way too many times and I’ve never had a malfunction. It’s a phenomenal system and it’s super easy to work on/clean. It’s comparable to a short stroke piston or a gas tappet system in terms of both disassembly and operation. It’s one of my favorites and I think it’s a real contender against the benelli
Only time I ever had an issue with my A-400 was the first couple hundred rounds due to cycling issues, but it was the water foul model that could shoot 3 1/2" shells and I was using it to shoot sporting clays. Long story short the issue was due to light loads in a gun that wasn't broken in yet and since then I have never had an issue with it and love my A-400.
I never had problems with a fresh a400 shooting clay round

Been watching this channel for years now. I own a 1301 and love it! While I’ve never shot an M4, I have shot many other Benelli shotguns, very fine weapons. The 1301 is perfect in my world, I’ll never get rid of it!
I'm debating between the 1301 and the M4. Leaning toward the the Beretta.
@@bluejaysfan965 I handled the M4 while deciding. It’s very cool and obviously a proven weapon. It felt too big/bulky to me. The 1301 is sleek, short, easy to wield. Plus it has the fastest trigger system there is. It’s super smooth and comfortable. It’s about $500 cheaper, though the 1301 is still expensive. I didn’t care about the price, I just bought what I liked best. Let us know what you pick up!
I had been looking for an M4 for about a year, and six months ago I finally gave up and “settled” on a 1301. Mine came from the factory with the extended magazine and QD clamp at the front. I was a little disappointed that I was having to settle until about 2 seconds into shooting it and realized just how fantastic it is. I recently (Friday) found an M4 at my usual gun shop for sale, and really didn’t have any buyers remorse. Really impressed with just how good this thing is.
Love my Beretta 1301! It’s been 100% reliable with every type of ammo and is the bella of shotguns. The Nordic tube extension is a must! The Magpul stock is much better than the pistol grip one from Mesa Tactical.

To maintain 922r compliance, make sure that the follower is also changed out. Look up what the feds consider to be okay and not. You'll see that just adding the extension can land you into hot water.

intro song name ?
Here's why you care about that bolt being faster: because it's *lighter.* And the reason why you care about it being lighter is because it will cycle grossly weak 12 gauge shots that the M4 won't. It also translates into a touch less kick against you, because the mass of the bolt is a contributing factor on a shot-to-shot basis. Also, we're not humping these on a 5-mike through dusty environments. The M4 may be battle-proven -- I'm not arguing that -- I'm arguing that in the conditions we're going to be using our shotguns, the extra 'beef' of an M4 is a detriment, not a benefit. To that end, the 1301 is winning competitions, and the M4 is rarely even used. But if you examine what wins a competition, you'll see that it has a lot do with what wins a gun-fight: _it's the _*_first_*_ to put metal on target._ ... and that's where the 1301 outshines the M4, as proven by competitions.
Good intelligent comment and absolutely accurate.
So get the 1301 over the M4 if you want subsonic shells?
People sleeping on the M2 though...
I was under the impression that what made the m4 so cool was it’s self regulating gas system that allows it to even shoot underpowered less lethal rounds without having to change how it’s gassed. I agree that the lighter carrier helps the beretta, but I don’t think it’s necessarily an issue for the m4
So basically if I want a comp shotgun, go 1301. If I want a reliable combat shotgun, go M4. Got it. And the M4 can shoot lighter loads, as well. I have both and have had no issues.
I just grabbed one today and you're the first video to pop up. I couldn't be more pleased.

Which is more reliable? If you could take 1 to war which is better?
@@wcsdiaries I haven't put them through enough torture to be able to declare a winner with reliability, they've both been essentially flawless. During the first 100 or so rounds with the m4 I ran some light Target loads as fast as I could, and it choked a couple times, but it's run everything else flawlessly. The 1301 has run everything, even light rounds during the break in period. I have full confidence in both. I do find the 1301 is easier to operate with it's superior controls - @garand was absolutely correct regarding the controls. There's nothing wrong with the m4's controls, the 1301's are just better. If better controls make the shooter more reliable, then I suppose the 1301 is arguably more reliable? I think if I'm in my home, I choose the 1301 and if I'm outdoors I grab the m4. Also, the mlok hand guard on my 1301 makes mounting accessories much easier than on the m4. Hopefully this helps.

@@wcsdiaries that's a good question, I'm not sure. I bought my 1301 with all the bells and whistles/upgrades from Langdon tactical about 6 months ago, and they're supplied directly by Beretta so I'd assume it's the most recent generation.
@@wcsdiaries also watch tfbtv review the 1301 if you have a chance. I think the consensus is that nobody is ready to say it's better than the m4, but a lot of people are comfortable calling them peers, and it's a much better value. That being said, if it's truly a defense scenario, I don't care about cost.
I'm a novice gun enthusiast and I recently purchased my first shotgun. I went with the Beretta 1301 tactical. The thing that most impressed me that I find is not noted in many of the reviews of this weapon I found online is the perfect weight balance that you get between the rear stock and front end of the gun. The M4, aside from it being heavier, felt top heavy toward the barrel in my hands. I think the even weight balance makes the recoil to weight ration so impressive for the Beretta 1304. It feels balanced in the hands while aiming as well. Reminds me of a mid engine Porsche. Just perfectly engineered without unnecessary bells and whistles.
Each episode is like what you waited for every week with your most favorite series.
Just shot my 1301 LTT yesterday for the first time and it was awesome. 6 different buck/slug loads and no issues.
I just picked a 1301 up a couple months ago and I love it. With the magazine extension Ive found that shells that dont allow you to load a full 7 in the tube you can get the shell in 90% of the way in and it shucks the 7th shell into the gate for an easy ghost load
Just curious what did it cost you? 1090 they’re almost impossible to find in stock.
Try to find different shells that are shorter length. Took me a while but found some.

Its still above 1 grand so its not exactly affordable. If you can buy this which is $1500 then there shouldnt be any problems buying the m4 which is only a couple hundred more…
@@SeudXe good point but i paid 2000 for the m4… 1500 for the beretta which gave me room for upgrades. Different budgets matter maybe??
@@fortyfiveseventy2994 if you had to choose , M4 or 1301? I’m on the fence atm
@FortyFiveSeventy It's less than 1,500 street price. Also, the A300 Ultima Patrol is another option.
MSRP on the 1301 is now $1760 oof. M4s are almost always at least $2000. I want a 1301.
Tried the competition version of this shotgun. The action is amazingly smooth. Definitely recommend it to anyone interested in a good semi auto shotgun
I wonder how exactly they manufacture it to be so smooth when interlocking with all the other parts.

Best video I’ve seen comparing the M4 & 1301!!
Thank you for very good demonstration !!!
Man the way you handle those shells is A tier😏😏 I obviously haven’t finished the vid but I know it’s gonna be a banger

Been looking forward to this one, loved the comparison and great to see the M2 in there as well, hope the M2 gets a review at some point!
what's the intro song name
That intro made the whole video... we thank you good sir 👍🏽🤌🏾👌🏽
I like what you said at the end. I am an H&K guy. And so far what I'm seeing on this 1301 is pretty good to excellent christmaship. I never got into the M4 or even the M3 way too expensive. Great video.
I've been waiting for this one for quite a while. And I would have to give the Langdon Tactical version of the Beretta 1301 the nod. I have an LT Elite 92 and am confident that LT provides an exceptional shotgun here.
The LLT version is so worth it. I did it and haven’t regretted it one but.

Love my 1301. Light to heavy loads it eats everything. The bolt release on the second gen is good to go. The magpul stock is a must. Aridus And GG&G both make good stock adaptors.
intro song name?
Everybody complained about the first gen bolt release but I actually like it because I can unload the magazine at lightning speed. I've never accidentally pressed the rear of the bolt release and had them all fly out during competition, but I guess some people have. I only shoot clays though, maybe if you're running and gunning and crawling around, then it could be a problem.
Great review. Convinced me to buy one today!
Great video as always! I'd love to see a comparison between the Gen 1 and 2 versions of the 1301. I recently found out about the Gens and haven't seen many visual representations of them.
Great vid and super informative. I have the 1301 LE model, one m4 and another 1014. The 1301 out the box is awesome. It light, maneuverable and very nice and easy to deploy. I’m running it with a Holosun 510 green version and this thing is on point and the time on target is quick and very accurate at 50 yards shooting slugs. It’s been my experience that it heats up faster than the Benellis. Overall the 1301 is a great blaster, don’t know it combat pedigree. The benelli is combat proven and a superb weapon system that will serve you for many years. My 26 years in the Marine Corps has engraved the 1014 in my heart. Still the 1301 is no slouch.
ok song name at start?
I have been considering a home defense shotgun for some time, and the 1301 answers the main issue I had with the M4 (cost) while matching it everywhere else.
Awesome review! I love my 1301T
Dude you sold at the thumb nail!!! Love it
Fun-fact: The Langdon Tactical Beretta 1301 with gray Magpul furniture was featured in Chris Prat's most recent movie, The Tomorrow War. Why am I saying this? Because that movie is what introduced me to this shotgun. And since then I have wanted one. Dang it Garandthumb, now I can't get one of these for a long time, because you made a great video on it. Lol.
The entire movie was great, but the weapons choices had me yelling at my TV. That said, the 12ga is the only weapon that made sense
Beretta 1301 Tactical is in Chris Pratt’s new show ‘Terminal List’
I had a nightmare with my 1301. Out of the box, the barrel was not aligned correctly in the barrel extension such that the front sight post was off to the side and the the mag tube and barrel were not parallel. The gas block being twisted was my biggest concern as the piston would not ride properly on the mag tube, causing it to wear faster. Beretta said it had to go back for warranty repair so I ship it off to them. Eight months and lots of phone calls later, they tell me it needs a new barrel…well Duh, I could have told them that. Next problem is that barrels are on back order. Four months later, yeah, that’s right, a year after shipping it back, I get it back, open the box, and the alignment is even worse than with the original barrel (that I had asked to get back since it had the original serial number, but they kept it). Back on the phone and this time they agree to let me keep the gun and just send me a new barrel. A month or so later I get another barrel, slap it in, and the sight post is welded to the end of the barrel off center…at least the gas block is aligned correctly so I don’t feel bad shooting it. Back on the phone with Beretta again and another barrel is on the way. I get the next barrel a month later, throw it in, and finally everything is aligned correctly. Never mind that the end of the sight post looks like it was struck with a chisel several times and some dimpling on the inner surface of the post that looks like someone put a bar in there to twist it. At least everything is straight now. Anyways, four barrels and 14 months later, my 1301 is fixed as much as it’s going to get. So check your 1301 for proper alignment. Take off the fore-end, flip the gun over, and look to make sure the mag tube is parallel with the barrel, and check that your front sight post is vertical. I went to Scheel’s in Sparks, NV where they had at least a dozen 1301s on racks such that anyone could pick them up and inspect. Out of the dozen there, at least half had a front sight post that was not vertical. I couldn’t tell without taking the fore-end off, but I imagine several of those also had the gas block twisted to the side such that the barrel and mag tube were not parallel.
Stay away Beretta 1301 Tactical , people overrated ??? see Update: Beretta 1301 Tactical (Beretta customer service is crap).
Great review!
Excellent video as always..What watch are you rocking, Mike?!
Love the Langdon Tactical...It seriously just runs and runs, super fast action.
The Langdon Tactical is truly amazing. In function, quality, and it’s unique. Never mind being the fastest cycling auto loader.
Enter Gen-12 from Genesis Arms.
@@kilgor5793let me guess, that's what you have.
@@kilgor5793 crazy that they ca charge that much for a box mag fed shotgun. They kinda suck.
Excellent review👀🤩...Thanks very much...👍
Excellent performance Mike, Langdon 1301 arrives Monday! Learn a bit to run and will be an experience. Thanks for the Intel & gouge
