GOING off-grid is something many dream of, but one former Londoner has actually followed through on his dream of living in a self-built house in the woods. Kris Harbour, 31, gave up his job, house, a flat he owned, and a busy social life to move onto a plot of land in the welsh countryside, which he bought on Ebay. Once there, using recycled, natural, and found materials, he began building his own round cobwood house from scratch, in which he now lives full-time. Kris told Barcroft Media: “The idea of working for two thirds of your life and having very little time to socialise and do hobbies, it just doesn’t sit right. • It does seem that his first GF wasn't going to be able to live like he is living, now , he has met the right gal for him. I have been to Wales, UK but, I didn't get to see enough of it. I had about 7-8 days to see all of the UK, and we took a ferry to Ireland, and THAT was just a few hours in Dublin. IF I could redo that trip I would skip Dublin and see more of England and Wales. Dublin was NOT really seeing Ireland, it was a city full of bars and some stores. The Ferry ride just ate up time. Wales was very nice and all the green hills, so many hills, very beautiful. We stopped at "Cucumber park" which I THINK was in Wales, there were "bluebells' in bloom, it was in March. There was a lake or pond with Swans. Anyway, I know that not just anyone can build this home and put all of the water and electric power together. The home owner MUST have some knowledge about building and doing all the things he has done to bring it all together. I wish that I could make a smaller version of this in my yard, but, I wouldn't know how to do ANYTHING, even remotely like that. My greenhouse is my "she shed". So, maybe the home builder could clue us in on how he was able to pull this off? That woodland setting is just so nice and many folks would pay TOP dollar for a home like that. Well, some "posh" people would pay top dollar for a "vacation spot" like that. Many celebs would just eat up the fact that it is eco friendly too. Maybe this dude should do this as a job or extra cash thing for celebs, I KNOW, it will only work in the right place, with water and natural resources. I bet some hioty tioty celebs would LOVE to have this built for them. Again, this guy HAS to have experience in building sheds at LEAST, and LIKELY more like Houses and electrical things. IF he just read things and simply built things by what he read, he is a freakin genius.

With his new life, came new vibration and energy, and it, of course, clashed with the old vibration and energy. He adapted, but she couldn't. Once things settled, the universe filled the void that was left by his previous girlfriend by sending along someone who better resonated with his new energy.

    • Unfortunately not everyone. There will still be greedy dangerous folk who believe their existence means more than yours. What you have should be theirs even if it costs your life. Their miserableness that hides behind the psychopathic mentality "if you're gone then I'll be happier." Though they're to far "programmed" to realize they'll never truly be happy even if they're the last person/people on earth. The radical type that believe they're a descendant of an ancient ape or far distant star fart. Never realizing their Creator, the One True Living GOD is the reason for true happiness, from a single spoken sentence, "universe". It would be cool to escape the "real world" at a chance to experience all of this beautiful creation. Though a time is coming where there will be no where to hide. Hopefully later than sooner but it's looking less and less likely with every new generation. The loss of GOD being not only shared but shown to the next generation. Although, the things to come when it's all said and done, the hope in Christ when he says "Faithful servant, job well done." 🇺🇸✝️ *GOD Bless 🙏 You ALL* ✝️🇺🇸

  • My uncle did this. He was studying law in Lima, Peru's capital and then left to the jungle to escape the craziness of the world. He built a house on top of a mountain next to a river, built a pool, a garden with animals. Got married with his wife, adopted her kid and lived happily for over 20 years. Going to his house in the summers as a kid are some of the best memories I have as a child. Simple living with meaningful work. He was the town's judge and he was respected and loved by everyone. Unfortunately he passed away last year due to alcoholism. Apparently he had managed to leave most of his demons in the city but after being sober for years, he started drinking again after the passing of his brother (my younger uncle). His legacy will be in my memories until my final days and my appreciation for nature is one of the greatest gifts anyone has given me. Rest in peace uncle uncle Sal.

  • I once heard complete silence in the world. It was Autumn in Alaska and I went to a far off road in the middle of nowhere up the base of a mountain. There was no snow and it wasn't too cold, but all the insects and birds and other animals were gone by then, migrated or hibernated or somesuch. I heard nothing but my own breath and heart beat. I heard no distant cars driving, I heard no far off noisy conversations or dogs barking, I didn't even hear wind. It was just silent and forever. I looked out and saw no people or houses, not even any roads, just orange and brown trees for miles. It was the most peaceful I have ever felt in my life. It made me genuinely cry, because I didn't think any place could be that quiet in the world. As a person with extreme introversion and social anxiety, it's what I always wanted from the very bottom of my heart. I love humans, but being constantly concerned about what people think about me is an incredibly exhausting and sad life. For the first time I felt like I could just be zen and with myself. I don't know why I'm writing this here, I just wanted to let other people know that it exists I guess. Many people here seem to dislike their city lives. I don't want to say "move to Alaska" because then places like that truly won't exist, but do make a genuine effort to go camping somewhere unpopular if you can. The fresh air is incredibly fragrant, and the silence is just... Magic.

The difference tho is that the work you do is all about the choices you make for your own life; improvements, additions-- plus the on-going upkeep of the hydro-electric, the solar and the wood. BUT If you love your job, it's not really 'work'.
