Thank you for your reaction. That was his father in the audience. Dimash was only 22 at this time and really had not been away from home without family. He only had an interpreter and coach. His family was concerned that he sounded so homesick, his father took a leave of absence from his job to come support him. His father did not leave until another friend or family member could come. Dimash is so lucky to be surrounded by friends and family.

It was so fun watching you enjoy watching this. All of his performances on “Singer 2017” are just a joy. He is always incredible but it is so fun to also see the reactions of the audience and the other contestants, who must be thinking, “I have to follow this?” All of them were already professional singers and it was a competition but Dimash’s humility and sweetness seemed to win most of them over. (You saw the gift of knee pads.) He became close to Terry Lin, who they called Papa Lin and joked he was Dimash’s real father. He is the older looking man with glasses among the contestants. Also Jam Hsao, the man at the end who said, “wow”, Tia Ray, and Justin Lo. He did an incredible duet with Justin Lo at his concert in Hong Kong last December, available on fan cam. It was the first song he had sung in Cantonese rather than Mandarin and is absolutely beautiful..
Dimash is one of the very best discoveries I found in life. His voice just brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to him. I suffer from major depression and his singing makes me be able to experience happiness. I love his style and cute little gestures

That's DIMASH for sure and was he having fun; look on his face was you haven't heard anything yet and then did it each time even higher. He did not know his dad was in the audience and had been lonesome for family. Other contestants named him adopted kid brother and were friends to him. Opera2 was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017 in China. The song is in Russian. A language he also speaks fluently. The original was from the famous Russian singer named Vitas. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 21 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. So beautiful and emotional. During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰. I love this video because he still seemed so innocent. Just a boy and he didn't seem as serious as he sometimes is these days. He still looked carefree. This tv show is called "Singer" and it's a Chinese competition show that Dimash participated in 2017. It's the same show (different year though) that Polina was on from your Cuckoo reaction. Many scenes from this video are audience members but also his competitor's sitting backstage waiting to go on. Can you imagine what's going on in their thoughts? 😂

Just for you, you should go back and look for a longer tape from this same performance. The proud man in the audience was his dad, who didn't want him to know he was there for fear of making him more nervous. Dimash was getting homesick, so the moment he spotted his dad was really touching. The announcer introduced his dad to the audience. This song is basically a novelty song. The lyrics talk about how loud the wind was outside his house, banging the doors and windows. Then he sings the part of the wind.

You might want to check out the original singer of Opera 2 , Vita’s. I personally prefer Dimash’s cover version. The Singer show did not get copyright permission for Dimash to sing this so Vitas’ people forbade Dimash from singing this ever again. I think it really was because Dimash modulates 2 semi-tones hhigher than Vitas does! 😆. Vitas has toured in China so The Singer audience knew this song.
P.s. There a longer version of this performance onYT that has English subtitles of all comments and the lyrics to the song. Dimash been alone at the show and was very homesick so his dad flew there and surprised Dimash after he finishes this song. Their whole conversation also has subtitles. Hope you can find it. 🤗👍👍

Dimash can't sing this song. The original singer Vitas has prohibited him from singing it. Apparently, Dimash did a better job at singing this song; he never thought there would be someone that would rival him. Lol.
