If the problem was Liverpool fans, it would have been Liverpool who were banned. Instead it was the tragic straw that broke the camel’s back. Nonetheless, if you do want to blame Liverpool, you have to question why so many other British clubs have gone on to win trophies and succeed in Europe whilst Everton have continued to sink and stink.

The other 4 Traditional big club's will find it very difficult now to break into that elite section of the prem. Spurs flirt with it but have no bottle Everton..... well that's what this video is about. Villa and my team Leeds are nowhere near being able to compete. Only other big club in with a chance of breaking into that elite section are Newcastle due to their new found wealth however their geographical position may stop them attracting top top players and their wags. We need new members on this board who know how to run a club/business and help the club generate profit from multiple areas. Even when we where playing in Europe under moyes year in and year out the board were getting deals which offered the club basically pennies.

Hopefully it will turn out well on sunday, but I´m far from sure. Relegation could be catastrophic. Staying in the PL - well, probably a new season like the last two. It´s hard to be a fan of the club, but this is what dedication is made of. Bad times, even though it´s more than just a phase. We want to see Everton in the top of the league again. Until then I´m dreaming of the great 1984-1985 season, hoping for something close to that will happen again before my time will end. Everton in my heart. BR from Copenhagen.

He has hung around like a ghost in Hogwarts and been top man in charge of the worst period in Everton's history. The switch of managers and the players they signed left us with a patchwork of who knows what...with no plan. The rot is deep... Thelwell seems to have a plan... Kenwright to go. Thelwell to stay. Moshiri to sell. That should be 2023's top 3 priorities. I would caveat that Moshiri has made our stadium dream real. We have to be grateful for that. UTFT

  • The way I see it: *Everton never properly replaced Lukaku, Stones, Deulofeu & Richarlison. *Everton didn't spend anywhere near what was actually needed (£1-2 Billion) to build a Top 4 Squad from scratch, while the money that was actually spent on Transfers was spent on players that where simply not good enough to play for a Top 6 club. *Everton has almost no CBs that could Defend over the past 6 years, all the while having only 1 Striker (Calvert-Lewin, whose has injury issues of late) that could actually finish since Lukaku left. It's no surprise then that Everton (like many a Mid-Table club on bad firm) is currently fighting a Relegation Battle. Regardless, the best advice I could give is to sell the Everton to Liverpool FC. Mainly because the former cannot seriously claim to be even the 2nd best club in Merseyside and that Liverpool itself can only really sustain 1 World Class Club.

Things like selling players for more than you bought them, that’s tough and there’s only a handful of “stepping stone” clubs that operate in that way. Everton over the last decade or so should be buying players in their prime (Theo Walcott) because Everton were a club expected to compete for top 6 success.

  • Good vid, but I think you understate the issue with the constant management churn; not only have the club kept on changing personnel but there’s been no consistency. The profile of manager keep changing, whether it’s promising young coaches (Lampard, Silva), experienced guys who have won the lot (Ancellotti, Benitez), or rescue experts (Allardyce). Each manager’s style of play varies, so their signings won’t necessarily fit their successors’ plans; Big Fat Sam was brought in as a short-term fix but was still allowed to spend a small fortune; and on it goes. Related to that is the indecision about management structure, with no certainty as to whether to have a director of football (and who it should be). Similarly, Benitez was halfway out the door when he was allowed to sack a load of back room staff - why?! And finally, the nature of the actual appointment processes has been shambolic. Ancellotti was still in a job when Silva was sacked, so the club’s best appointment was thanks to dumb luck when he became available. Giving the job to Lampard wasn’t wholly bonkers - but why wait until the very end of the transfer window? The club openly coveted Martinez, but why would he abandon his final chance to manage Belgium at a World Cup? In short, Everton wouldn’t have been any worse of on the pitch (and would be several hundred million more in the bank) if they’d just given a couple of those managers a bit more time. It barely matters which of those managers they should have backed - the side have consistently deteriorated anyway.

From FFP rules, money spent on sackings alone, board member corruption (4th highest paid board in the prem), and as you touched on, very, VERY poor recruitment from our (newly appointed position) of sporting director. It's all just been a shambles. It's a shame as, and I know all fan bases say this, we're one of the most dedicated fan bases out there. Just look at the videos from the end of last season and before the palace game. We've been sorely let down from the top and there's nothing we can do. • Bringing in a highly regarded Director of Football like Marcel Brands and not allowing him to do his job properly has set us back no end. Moshiri and Kenwright interfering and insisting on certain players has made that interference worse. At least with Thelwell in place you can see a plan, although where Maupay and McNeil fit into that plan is anyone's guess - I wonder if Thelwell or Lampard even wanted them?

  • With respect, this video doesn't make the main point explicitly. Everton's issue is that they're sitting on a pot of gold, which they're not allowed to spend. In their attempt to avoid violating FFP rules, Everton's net spend has been approximately zero since January of 2021. While the rest of the PL continues to invest, we've spent nothing this season & nothing last season. Together with an unusually high number of injuries, that's why we've struggled in 21/22 and 22/23.

  • The need to go big and get a striker. On paper, Everton have a good foundation, and before the World Cup, looked like they were starting to figure out. The goalkeeper/ defense combination of Pickford+ Coady/ Tarkowski should mean that they won’t concede many, and their goal difference should be okay. I don’t think they will go down, but if they want to push on forward they need a good striker.

  • Our net spend over the last 6 years has been about 200m with most of that in the first 3 years. That's not that much when compared to other premier league clubs. And our net spend over the last 3 years has been very little and when you combine that with the fact that we haven't developed any players it's not hard to see why we are where we are.

  • Decent video. Showing the net spend and lack of sales is shocking. But the biggest problem with Moshiri is that he's not a football man and insists on picking coaches, who then sign players without regard to how their styles mesh. We have a striker that needs service and 2 creative players

  • Everton fan here. 100% on the board. When he came to the club, Moshiri said he wanted "A big name on the touchline" so he went for Koeman. That was the start of our problems there. You talk about a lack of forward thinking in the player signings and it was the same at manager level. Picking a manager with a long term plan (Koeman had one eye on the Barca job) and putting a good recruitment team behind him from the start should have been the way. Instead the backroom teams are an old boys club of ex-players we've given a job to. Our youth acadamy produces barely anyone of note despite the great facilities we have (Barkley, Tom Davies & Anthony Gordon in 10 years) and we seem to think hiring a manager to coach a team with players made up from 5 or 6 previous managers who aren't performing then firing the manager the second things go inevitable wrong is the way to go. Moshiri needs to get rid of the entire senior management/board-room, Kenright, Barret-Baxendale et-al need moving on. Bring in a competent team with good knowledge of how to run an actual football club from top to bottom, youth level to first team and provide that support to the DOF and Manager going forward. I'm not hopeful he has the balls to do it though.

  • So, let's get some things straight... Im 13 and I have been a everton fan for all my life... 1) I think Lampard needs time since it has been proven that changing managers every year hasn't been successful 2) DON'T HESITATE TO SELL PLAYERS... e. g. Davies, Keane bla bla bla 3) I think Moshiri should realise that our scouting network has been atrocious... Just think that Man city signed Julian Alvare for just 15 million... We spent 15 million on Dwight Mc Neil 4 ] Buy more free agents 5) Invest in a solid solid striker, not a injury prone player, someone capable of scoring goals for fun. So more many things Finally, Burnley were the team that deserved to stay...
