  • The knee trick was the key to getting the new tore onto the rim. I spent the better part of an hour goofing around, trying to somehow hold the rim secure, and finally giving up and checking KZhead. After sifting through a bunch of useless videos, I found this one, skipped to the part I wanted to see, then it took less than a minute to get the tire on. Thank you!

Did one last night on a old L 120 and struggled to break bead. Ended up using tire iron as a chisel with a hammer to break bead. After that it was pretty gravy. Your slide hammer is bad azz. I have videos of it purring away on my channel. Trying to decide if I want hdap or versa turf tires...but it looks like the versa ones don't come in 20/10-8. And I don't know if it's a good idea or not to mix different treads front and rear although the majority of the traction is going to be at the rear. Fronts were ok. Held air.

    • Anonymous98 Most 10 psi rear and 12 to 14 psi front. Check side wall on tire. The main idea is to keep the front equal and rear equal so the mower deck will cut evenly if the deck is properly adjusted.

      @JohnsonsSmallEngines@JohnsonsSmallEngines4 жыл бұрын
  • If you have too big a gap between the rim and the new tire and are having trouble pressurizing it, a ratchet strap (or cord of some type) cinched around the tread will help push the bead toward the rim and make it easier. Sometimes you can just stand the tire up and push down on the tread while pressurizing, but that doesn't work as well.

    @texomatinker414@texomatinker4143 жыл бұрын
    • Yes but remember that if you over pressurize the tire when using a ratchet strap you can hurt yourself when you release the ratchet strap so be very careful!!

  • Great video. I just put tubes in both of my X300 rear tires. What do you use to grease the rear axles? I picked this mower up used and the previous owner apparently never did. Dry as a bone and nearly seized. I want to try and bring it back before it gets worse.

    @lp8243@lp82434 жыл бұрын
    • LP the x300 series tractors are hydrostatic driven in the rear and there is no grease points. The transmission has hydraulic oil in it that keeps everything lubricated including the rear axle. It’s all in one. If your trying to push the machine when it isn’t running? There is a hydro release lever you pull out that is located near the hitch hole in the back of the tractor. To the right of the hole.

      @JohnsonsSmallEngines@JohnsonsSmallEngines4 жыл бұрын
    • Johnson's Small Engines thank you for the quick reply. The wheels were just really difficult to get off when I was putting tubes in the tires. They were almost rusted on. Any recommendations on how to fix that issue so that they don’t become permanently seized? Enjoy all of your videos, keep ‘em coming!

      @lp8243@lp82434 жыл бұрын
    • LP ooooo! Ok, gotya. Just put never seize on shafts after you clean them up before putting the tires back on axles. That will keep corrosion down.

    @oe542@oe5422 жыл бұрын
    • I sure did, LOL. I was born that way so it was easy to deal with everything, plus I have changed thousands of tires. The trick is getting the tire bead in as close to the center of the rim before prying the other bead off of the rim and as I say "baby steps" small bites will make it also easier.

  • Just replaced a flat. Whoever put the tire on the rim used red loctite to bond the wheel to the rim. I had to cut the tire off and spend an hour breaking the seal with a blowtorch and elbow grease. If I weren't so stubbornness, I'd have gone back to Tractor Supply and just swapped the tire for one already mounted on a rim.

  • I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. kzhead.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

  • Are you using OEM tire or something else? Can you recommend a generic? I have a flat on my John Deere. I have never changed a tire and I'm not even sure if I can but I will give it a shot. This is my first ride on mower and I didnt even know we should be putting grease on. What kind of grease? 🤔 Also where are you located? Maybe you can help me out 😆 I know the John Deere dealer is going to charge me ridiculous prices to do anything. A couple years ago they were going to charge me $350 to do something to my Honda push mower that I did in 5 minutes for free after watching a KZhead video.

    • If you have a flat tire just install a inner tube. Here is a link to how to install a inner tube. kzhead.info/sun/lc9sqtumhqJnoYk/bejne.html.

  • I could not get the golf cart tire on I am not as good and you have 1 arm Damm I suck 😒 you are awesome

    @robertehlers4330@robertehlers4330 Жыл бұрын
    • You don’t suck. Ask your local golf cart dealer. The golf cart tires are very high ply and very hard to get on. You should take it to somebody that can help with that tire.

  • Can you use a tube inside a older tire?

    @AR-wc3mw@AR-wc3mw3 жыл бұрын
    • Yes, absolutely. We here at my shop do it all the time. just make sure to check the inside wall of the tire to make sure there are no obstructions that may pop the new inner tube.
